Antifeminist movement...

Spinflight · 21/08/2018 13:52

Seems to be gathering pace, faster than any other movement that I can recall..

Red Pill, MRAs, blogs and youtube channels seem to be springing up aplenty.

Can we put all of this down to misogyny or admit some failings of feminist thought?

1st rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.

thebewilderness · 21/08/2018 21:32

In the vague direction of the spirit of the OP - does anyone else find it difficult to differentiate between TRA and MRA rhetoric?

You cannot tell the difference between the MRAs and TRAs because there is none.

The correct way to eat Weetabix is to give them a good soaking with milk, wait for a few seconds to soak in, then drink the milk out of the bowl. Nice soft moist Weetabix that hold their shape and never get soggy. Works a treat with crunchy nut cornflakes as well, although I always find I’m hungry again before swallowing the last spoonful with them.
The problem with feminist thought is that we can’t find any unity where breakfast cereals are concerned.

TornFromTheInside · 21/08/2018 22:14

The correct way to eat Weetabix is sideways.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/08/2018 22:20

When DD was small, I used to buy the little crispy chocolate chip weetabix 'for her'Blush

terryleather · 21/08/2018 22:29

Cereal is only acceptable when ice cold milk is added, not too much, and consumed before any sogginess occurs.

Once again sogginess, banana or hot milk shall be considered literal violence and I shall be informing the police and the mayor!

OrdinaryGirl · 21/08/2018 23:06

[frantically googles 'Weetabix feminism Mumsnet. Is none the wiser.]

FloralBunting · 21/08/2018 23:21

OrdinaryGirl, the problem you have there is that the Weetabix Feminism has arisen like folklore, through myriad now deleted threads largely started by jolly MRAs. It's genesis is lost to the mists of time, long obscured by the ongoing hilarity of the deletion message.

It's a bit all the worldwide creation myths. There's some common ideas, but only a very few really know the truth - and they have usually been up very late for the midnight misogynist, only to find their recipes and breakfast food abominations disappeared by the advent of the morning mods.

TornFromTheInside · 21/08/2018 23:25

I think the OP's popped his Kellogs

Twunk · 21/08/2018 23:32

I’m a feminist and I have occasional failures of thought...usually along the lines of “what did I come in here for?” And “what happens if I press that button?........... oh.”

This morning I had 2 chocolate digestives for breakfast. I’m not ashamed.

FloralBunting · 21/08/2018 23:35

I had nothing left in the house, grocery-wise, today, so I had a corn on the cob for breakfast this morning at 8.20.

That's got an oblique connection to breakfast cereal, right?

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 21/08/2018 23:37

FloralBunting Your making me hungry now.

BertrandRussell · 21/08/2018 23:43

Tonight my ds persuaded me, using his white male privilege and much mansplaining, to try his favourite thing- vanilla ice cream with chopped salted peanuts on. Holy Patriarchy, it’s good.

Twunk · 21/08/2018 23:49

Bertrand that sounds like...the best thing ever. Damn the patriarchy and its appealing pudding ideas.

thebewilderness · 21/08/2018 23:51

I loved tin roof sundae ice cream and you cannot get it anywhere here.
It was lovely vanilla with chocolate and caramel ribbons with peanuts.
I looked at all the stores for it and the closest that carries it is too far so I bought an ice cream maker for the Kitchen aid mixer so I can make it myself! So there ice cream stores!

OlennasWimple · 21/08/2018 23:51

The OP seems very quiet Hmm

It sounds good but doesn't it need chocolate too in some form?

BertrandRussell · 21/08/2018 23:56

No need of chocolate at all- that would be a very different thing and I wouldn’t like it. But I imagine that it would be the sort of thing that people who like that sort of thing like.

BertrandRussell · 21/08/2018 23:57

We are going to try it with salted cashews at the weekend. I will report back.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 22/08/2018 00:01

You can get chopped nuts on vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce or toffee sauce around here. And it’s the nuts.

terryleather · 22/08/2018 00:04

Totally acceptable as long as you didn't dunk them in hot milk.

terryleather · 22/08/2018 00:07

This sounds utterly divine!

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2018 00:13

But are they salted nuts? That’s the secret of the Patriarchy Sundae. The salt.

Twunk · 22/08/2018 00:13

Terry of course not! I’m not a monster!
