www.channel4.com/info/press/news/channel-4-appoints-sue-pascoe-as-advisor-on-inclusion-x

Sue Pascoe, who 4 years ago was Graham, and who said "that while a man, he was the embodiment of the all-action, red-bloodied alpha male."
Of course, by 2015, this evolved to "'It's funny, I'm 55, I am very hormonal, I am going through puberty again which means that I am just getting to my teenage girl years - so watch out world."

Perhaps those teenage girl years have been outgrown now that Pascoe is 58. Here's hoping.

I'm not convinced this will result in a better proportion of those of us who are female being represented though.

Wouldn't it be nice if some of the recent 'inclusivity' appointments actually included women? By which I mean, the old fashioned ACTUALLY underrepresented, female type human.

cross posts!

Yorkshire MESMAC twitter describes itself, "Yorkshire's largest LGBT+ Sexual and Mental Health charity" so it came up in my search.

hackmum · 09/08/2018 15:54

When I asked the question, I was guessing it was Mesmac but wasn't sure.

Melamin: from a Times article:

A charity dealing with abuse survivors and promoting gay sexual health faces claims of sexual misconduct in the first recent charity sex scandal where the alleged victims are in the UK.

Leeds city council said it has referred two complaints about the Yorkshire-based organisation Men who Enjoy Sex With Men — Action in the Community (Yorkshire Mesmac) to police.

The Charity Commission also said it was in “ongoing engagement” with Mesmac, which has received more than £5m from councils, government and the police. The commission said it had “serious concern” after one of Mesmac’s former trustees was jailed for child sex offences committed during his time in post, including paying a boy, 15, for sex.

Brian Mynott, a Yorkshire-based therapist who works with abused young…

(That's as much as I can read without a subscription.)

Do they get to check two boxes on their diversity checklist when they hire a TW, is that what this is about?

We've hired a woman, yep, ooh and LGBT.. oh and look she ain't taking maternity is she!

I was a bit puzzled by Channel 4's description of Mesmac as a charity in the North East, when it's in Yorkshire.

The conspiracy theorist in me says it's because the inclusion people at Channel 4 thought they could get away with hiding it because mumsnet posters would be too thick to use Google or Twitter ….

Datun · 09/08/2018 16:01

Why is this thread turning to Swiss cheese?

Threads about AGP are being pounced on by TRAs.

Wasn't Jess Bradley's organisation, ATH, also meeting at MESMAC? And wasn't that the place where the coathooks in the foyer were in the shape of penises? And where young men who had been sexually abused were offered therapy? ( I believe that was all reported at the time).

Isn't that just what you'd want to see as you hung up your coat?

Ffs.

So, just to recap: Sue Pascoe, a middle-aged white man from a wealthy background, a highly-paid career, a former Master of Foxhounds and an active member of the Conservative Party, has been appointed by Channel 4 as an inclusion adviser.

They are seriously taking the piss, aren't they?

It's fucking unbelievable, isn't it!!!!

And don't forget, they now feel like a giddy teenage girl.

Honestly how can ANYONE not see what cases like this really are? It’s baffling. Almost no one I know in real life would ever acknowledge that this person is anything other than stunning and brave and a great person for the job of inclusion advisor. Could it be that we are the crazy ones?

JuneOsbourne · 09/08/2018 16:04

Wonder if Pascoe is still into guns and foxhunting now they're a woman. Some pomo liberal handmaidens' heads are about to explode.

You would hope, but no, most will excuse literally anything if a TW does it.

You win the award for the best Oscar Wilde's sarcasm post. Brilliant and incisive. Yeh!

OldCrone · 09/08/2018 16:07

Mesmac. Under people on this page, Susan Pascoe is listed as a trustee.

Get new friends? (Sorry!)

Seriously - I think 80% or more of the people in the country won't give it a second thought - won't even bother reading an article about it - and if they did, they would think unkind thoughts about Pascoe's appearance. I honestly do think that the "silent majority" know perfectly well the emperor has no clothes; they just don't (yet) realise why it matters.

terryleather · 09/08/2018 16:08

For all of us and especially for Sloth

We must move in very different circles! Apart from a couple of wokesters I would say the exact opposite.

THIS

gendercritter · 09/08/2018 16:09

Funny how getting in touch with one's feminine side always involves wearing women's underwear and growing breasts and not taking on the care of an older relative or opting to have less of a voice in society.

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 09/08/2018 16:10

Or indeed giving up all hope of influential positions at Channel 4.
