Channel 4 appoints a new advisor on inclusion

www.channel4.com/info/press/news/channel-4-appoints-sue-pascoe-as-advisor-on-inclusion-x

Sue Pascoe, who 4 years ago was Graham, and who said "that while a man, he was the embodiment of the all-action, red-bloodied alpha male."
Of course, by 2015, this evolved to "'It's funny, I'm 55, I am very hormonal, I am going through puberty again which means that I am just getting to my teenage girl years - so watch out world."

Perhaps those teenage girl years have been outgrown now that Pascoe is 58. Here's hoping.

I'm not convinced this will result in a better proportion of those of us who are female being represented though.

Wouldn't it be nice if some of the recent 'inclusivity' appointments actually included women? By which I mean, the old fashioned ACTUALLY underrepresented, female type human.

On the issue of surgery, I noticed that at least once the phrase 'gender CORRECTION surgery' was used rather than 'reassignment' - how much further down the rabbit hole can we be shoved?!

dragonfliez · 10/08/2018 11:23

The Irish female surgeon operating a trans ops service in USA refers to masculoplasty instead of mastectomy.

A sop to potential paying customers or another attempt to blow smoke in the eyes of the general public?

Yes, its in the highlights clips at the beginning of SKY news segment. Starts with comment from Jess Bradley. Sue Pascoe comments feature twice, "these radical feminists, they've lost the plot" & "its not your fight":

'Line 18: The fight between trans and feminists'

"Proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act have sparked a bitter divide between the trans community and groups of feminists.

Sky's Lucy Cotter has been looking at the fierce opposition facing the Government over proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act.

The Transgender community wants to simplify the process of transitioning, including the right to self-identify in a preferred gender - rather than face an extensive assessment.

But hard-line feminists claim it's ludicrous, potentially dangerous and an attack on women's rights. "

dragonfliez · 10/08/2018 11:42

Seems the trustees of Mesmac are a shy and retiring bunch. According to the Charity Commission there are 10 but www.mesmac.co.uk/about-us/the-trustees only names 3.

pachyderm · 10/08/2018 12:13

Voleclock yes, the "HRT" thing enrages me too, when the hormones are not being replaced, they were never there!

It is a sort of parallel universe isn't it. Where inconvenient realities with the way the earth works are circumvented by changing the use of words.

This is the gap in the narrative that needs bridging.

No one gives a toss how easy it is to self identify, IF that didn't remove women's rights.

Sometimes it sounds like feminists are just being bloody-minded.

You can't say feminists 'claim' it's an attack on women's rights, when it IS.

Is it possible to be a trustee of a charity but keep it secret?

hipsterfun · 10/08/2018 13:20

We’ve reached a pretty pass when even the exercise of basic common sense makes a person a hard liner.

dragonfliez · 10/08/2018 14:11

Wanderabout you can be a trustee and not named on the Charity Commission website if you have asked for and be granted a dispensation.

Sue starts at 3.19 and calls the mother of their children 'she'. Datun

But they're just boring disadvantaged people without a fantastic glittery brave stunning I Am What I Am unicorn to ride in on innit?
I love this! I also want a bloody unicorn, but I don't think I'm brave or interesting enoughGrin

HelenaDove · 10/08/2018 23:05

Just heard on The Last Leg that Caitlyn Jenner will be on there next week (Friday )

HelenaDove · 10/08/2018 23:38

Im guessing inclusion wont mean putting a stop to the poverty porn programmes and actually giving a platform to working class people and social housing tenants (at least Channel 4 news does this and does it well. Im talking about programmes like Britains Benefit Tenants) instead of othering them.

Undercoverswede · 11/08/2018 15:10

"Going through puberty"

Channel 4 appoints a new advisor on inclusion
NothingOnTellyAgain · 12/08/2018 11:04

Actually another point.

My DD has been through puberty (ie her periods have started which I think is most people's understanding) she is not at secondary school yet. Things started aged 8.5 periods came at just turned 10. This isn't unusual and even decades ago - I started at 12.

This "watch out world" what on earth does it mean? And bearing in mind girls do not go through puberty when they are grown up. Puberty is what makes them grow up.

Undercoverswede · 12/08/2018 11:45

NothingonTelly

According to the stats of how often people imagine teenagers have sex, it is painfully clear that both men and women have overheated ideas of how often. Both men and women triple or even quadruple the actual average for boys, but while women imagine that girls have triple or quadruple the amount of sex they actually do have, men multiply it by six in their fevered minds. And as men are apparently easy with the same sleight of hand when conflating their imaginings of 'puberty' and 'sexually overactive teenage hottie' (wonder where they could have got that idea), it seems quite clear what is implied.

One could of course ask if the timing of such 'transformations' suggest any similarity with sudden urges to buy a motorcycle, change their hairstyle to 'something younger' and perhaps follow through on that theme in the personal relationships department, but that would be churlish.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 12/08/2018 12:17

It lines up with that other person who said their advice to schoolkids was "get tits young and suck cock" I think it was.

My DD started "getting tits" at 8.5, how much cock do they think she should be sucking now she is 10?

These people need to be a bit more fucking circumspect in what they say.

But they won't because it all seems to be about sex, for some reason.

KookiSpooki · 12/08/2018 12:39

You must be aware that AGP has been entirely debunked and exposed by the medical profession for what it really is: An egregious pseudo-diagnosis, used by anti trans fascist movements to discredit and hurt trans women, (apparently trans men are OK according to trans exclusive radical feminists, as long as they prostrate and emasculate themselves)!
Also... What's this, "only trans women have fetishes" guff, also? Perlease..... Most of the women I know whether trans or cisgender; binary or not; gender conforming or otherwise; they all have their kinks. Well done if you're saying you're not kinky! Really, what do you want? A sweetie?
Anti trans fascism is poised on the brink overlooking the wrong side of history to be honest and almost all reasonable feminism accepts trans femininity as legit, so enjoy your tantrum in your echo chamber while people are still listening! (Just kidding, they aren't)!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 12/08/2018 12:54

"You must be aware that AGP has been entirely debunked "

And then you go on to say

"What's this, "only trans women have fetishes" guff, also?"

Sooooo

For some men is there is link between donning women's clothes (esp underwear) and getting a stiffie, or not?

You seem to contradict yourself.

FWIW we all know that there are plenty of men who like to put on "women's" clothes and have a wank, it's in the news every other day. Often because of stealing underwear, sometimes because prominent transwomen talk about it, sometimes due to "men in women's clothes" masturbating around the place.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 12/08/2018 12:55

I have yet to hear a story of a woman stealing her son's / underwear for the purpose of putting it on and masturbating. While not ruling out the possibility it has ever happened, I don't identify it as a fairly common "thing".

I also have not heard stories about women putting on "men's clothes" and then masturbating in public, often at women /girls.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 12/08/2018 12:58

When it comes to, um, interesting sexual interests (voyeurism, flashing, dressing up in paraphernalia (whether it's in someone elses underwear or an inflatable gimp suit) men really do seem to have cornered the market.

Saying "women do it too and stop kink shaming" is a hopeless excuse TBH.

ballsballsballs · 12/08/2018 13:02

I call Godwin.

Ereshkigal · 12/08/2018 13:05

LOL what a very special post. Kinkshaming, echo chamber, anti trans fascists, wrong side of history.

I don't think so dear.
