Are we the baddies?

Are Terf's as bad as everybody seems to say?

Are we on the wrong side of history?

Anyone ever stop to ask themselves this or is it just me?

Don't mean to derail, but did someone really change their name to BeyondRadicalisationPortal Grin

This is completely off topic but sometimes I think whether the world should have its own version of Partition, where everyone who shared the same world view should all go and Iive with each other and thereby stop all this hate fuelled rhetoric. So, white supremacists could all have their own country, TRAs could all live with each other, etc. Unworkable I know but social media has made pp so entrenched in their own little echo chambers that listening to each other and empathy and compassion seem so difficult these days. And is affecting democracy worldwide. Just a thought...

LGB people faced similar persecution based on similar arguments. Your treatment of the T is the same.

@freexm LGB people - especially lesbians, and especially young people who would be likely to grow up gay - are once again facing persecution *because^ of the T. Gay conversion therapy, denial of the validity of same-sex attraction, the promotion of correctional rape culture. Educate yourself.

Oh that's awesome

I would change my name to radicailsed reindeer but i think someone would actually call the police on me

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 08:37

My dearly beloved eldest mentioned to me once that he was glad he wasnt a young child nowadays as he probably would think he was a girl

Pratchet · 11/07/2018 08:42

My youngest boy was in a dress 24 hours a day also non conforming.

You should be rufustheradicalisedreindeer and I wil call the police if you don't

Ereshkigal · 11/07/2018 08:44

Yes Rufus!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 08:48

pratchet

Ds was particularly non conforming

Very gentle loving quiet child not a stereotypical boy but definitely all boy

But he was called a girl at school and gay (they were right about one of them to be fair) and he would have been a prime subject for the whole 'girls like/boys like' bit

Watch yourself or i will change my name to rufusthethreatenedbypratchetreindeer...and no-one wants that!!!

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 11/07/2018 09:06
Grin
Pratchet · 11/07/2018 09:42

Lolol
Yes my son came out recently.
He would be targeted today if he were five, six years old. I would probably homeschool.

garam · 11/07/2018 10:21

This is exactly right.
Of course when theres a right wing ideological war, the messenger will be attacked whether or not the message is true. And it is.

pratchet

Honestly such a joy

Pratchet · 11/07/2018 10:38

Grin aren't they perfect

LangCleg · 11/07/2018 10:58

My DS1 is straight. Often wears tunics/kilts with leggings - he thinks he's too cool for school, bless him. Think um... cross between Jaden Smith and an old school punk. He's occasionally - and reverently, by the way he tells it! - asked his pronouns when he's out. Drives him up the wall.

smile15 · 11/07/2018 10:58

@AngryAttackKittens

I am more educated than most having done actual university funded research in gender studies that has won awards rather than the super egotistical google you're all capable of.

I am also the L to give you some context.

Your statement makes no sense. You have merely stated some things that have nothing to do with trans people. Yes, there are /some/ trans people who think lesbians have to have sex with them. That is very wrong and should be spoken out against. It's not an excuse to demonise others with the same label.

Gay conversion therapy - trans conversion therapy?

The denial of validation - what are you all discussing here exactly? The validity of trans people.

What about some others?

'Taking our rights away' - Same sex marriage protestors, gender radical feminists

Mentally ill/ deluded- Homosexuality was considered a mental illness etc etc

'LGB people are predatory' - many gay men were considered paedophiles because they were gay. Trans women are considered predatory to cis women and girls.

The problem with MumsNet users and their views on people who are transgender is that your issues are with a very small number of the trans community who shout the loudest.

Many many many trans people don't believe in the same things. Please stop demonising everyone as correctional rapists, biology denying, predatory misogynists.

Offred · 11/07/2018 11:13

It’s interesting when people use the ‘taking our rights away, the Christian Right said that about gay marriage’ thing because obviously people saying ‘you are taking our rights away’ is not the thing. The thing is about the balancing of rights and the arguments relating to each conflict.

Where you are going with that comparison in the end is to discourage people from complaining about feeling oppressed full stop. Plenty of people complain about oppressions, sometimes these complaints are not reasonable when you are planning across a whole society.

If you have good arguments re why women should not be concerned about the legal definition of ‘woman’ and ‘female’ changing then make them please.

Don’t just come on here to sneer using your academic credentials to prove you are the authority... 🙄

Pratchet · 11/07/2018 11:14

And yet here you are, arguing with feminists rather than trans extremists. Why is that?

Offred · 11/07/2018 11:15

And if you honestly believe the entire basis of the complaints is transphobia then you need to evidence this claim.

smile15 · 11/07/2018 11:17

I personally wouldn't consider you feminists

Offred · 11/07/2018 11:18

That’s entirely irrelevant since you are not the feminism police... 🙄
