Are we the baddies?

Are Terf's as bad as everybody seems to say?

Are we on the wrong side of history?

Anyone ever stop to ask themselves this or is it just me?

Jon Ronson gave this talk in 2015, "How one tweet can ruin your life'

he concludes that 'perhaps there are two types of people in the world, those who favour humans over ideology and those who favour ideology over humans. He says he favours humans over ideology, but believes the ideologues are winning & they are creating a stage for constant artificial high dramas where everyone is either a magnificent hero or a sickening villain... which is not true about our fellow humans since we are all stupid & clever, we are grey areas '

'For the longest time Jon Ronson reveled in the fact that Twitter gave a voice to the voiceless ... the social media platform gave us all a chance to speak up and hit back at perceived injustice. But somewhere along the way, things took a turn. In this passionate, eloquent talk, Ronson explains how too often we end up behaving like a baying mob — and that it's time to rethink how we interact with others online'

I think it has a great deal of relevence, especially about power and the threat to democracy.

Yes absolutely this. I was just coming on to say that the way everything seems to have turned into a titanic struggle between good and evil is getting in the way of any sensible consensus-building, and the only people who benefit are the extremists

The truth that no one seems able to see is that the world is, and always has been, a battle of good vs good

^This a million time over. It's a pointless battle as to how best to deal with the bad ones and while the good people are infighting, evil prospers.

That's why I'm so angry about this battle between trans ideology and radical feminism the current government has orchestrated for good PR with pink news (like wtf). Anyway, both groups are striving for the same goal: i.e. your biological sex (which is innate and you have no control over) should not limit what you can do or achieve in the world... My empathy towards trans women ends, however, when they can't conceive of any possible way in which biological females are disadvantaged due to their innate biology and go on to state that AFAB women have some sort of privilege over "violently*" AMAB trans women.

It's just that it's a really hard campaign to run nicely. If you really really think women can do without their own identity/services/spaces then you shouldn't be doing it. Personally, I don't think we're there yet. Try this for size....

  • Here is one inalienable truth. Almost all people that disagree with each other think that they are the good guys. Norm MacDonald once said The idiot sees the world as good vs Evil* The cynic sees the world as evil vs evil The truth that no one seems able to see is that the world is, and always has been, a battle of good vs good. So everyone that annoys you thinks they are right but so do you and that annoys them.

This should be the pinned post at the top of FWR. Wise words.

daimbars · 10/07/2018 22:39

True 'terfs' dont want to recognise gender.
True TRA dont want to recognise sex.

I am saying why cant we recognise both. I dont see how I can be wrong or how anyone can argue with that tbh.

I agree Garden but unfortunately the Gender Recognition Act refers to sex and gender as being the same thing. The two terms are used interchangeably.

Pratchet · 10/07/2018 22:42

No they aren't.

However your argument that they are leads inescapably to the conclusion that you think females should not be allowed any space without penis, including inverted penis. Isn't there a trans board calling out for you?

Pratchet · 10/07/2018 22:51

pratchet Not your place to edge unwelcome (from your perspective) voices out. Given the thread title, it's ironic that you're too insecure to have a different perspective or two to think through these issues with.

Pratchet · 10/07/2018 23:20

Lol give over

heartsease68 · 10/07/2018 23:35

I think there is a group for the trans fearful and ideologically rigid waiting for you?

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 10/07/2018 23:42

Data lounge have been linked a few times, they need some woke training

Pratchet · 10/07/2018 23:42

Ideologically rigid - that's your transactivists right there
Trans fearful - not me Smile

Pratchet · 10/07/2018 23:43

But it's mostly men over on data lounge. Harder target.

BettyDuMonde · 10/07/2018 23:44

I love datalounge. They are us in a gay male parallel universe.

Pratchet · 10/07/2018 23:46

Yes the are. They are very 'fuck that'.
