3 strikes and you're out

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 13:33

Sorry to start this thread but I'm livid. I'm beyond livid to be fair.

I'm now on strike two and have been warned my posting privilege is at risk.

The reason for this thread is; please don't take the new guidelines at face value. I got a strike today for calling a man who presents as a woman a name NOT on the banned list. Obviously now I can't say what it was, I am effectively gagged.

I now have six weeks of no free speech until the strikes I have are wiped - again effectively gagged.

So, you won't see me much as I will NOT refer to men who present as women as the names we are allowed to call them, so will end up banned. I will post bland banal comments that can't offend any sensibilities here and let rip elsewhere where free speech is encouraged.

PLEASE, please, watch your words or MN will use this as a reason the close the FWR board.

A genuine thank you for all the kind words. I didn't post for that but they show MN as it used to be, a fantastic place for support. Shame so many feel persecuted not supported any more.

I'm am getting so pissed off at feeling like Big Brother is watching me all the time. I'm too angry, gobby and sweary to think I won't be banned eventually. Sometimes I try to be mindful but to be honest I think fuck it, why should I be policed and censored? No one knows what the hell is going on anyway.

I bloody love this forum. I came out of lurkdom quite recently and have learned so much. You are all amazing. It it sends me absolutely mad that such articulate, knowledgable speakers like you OP are now being censored.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2018 18:08

I cannot believe that person was saying they are an infertile woman and know the pain Ro is going through. What on earth is the matter with them?😡😡 how cruel can one person be? I just don't know...sometimes with these people it feels like trying to have a conversation with a herd of sheep.

Spontaneous if you have a wee minute would you mind DMing the other site to me, please? I'd love to join!

Pywife2 · 18/06/2018 18:17

Well, I'm one of the lurkers and I'd happily speak up if others get kicked off. But I don't understand what's going on most of the time Grin

I read the censorship guidelines and they're so vague, it looked like 'We'll be making it up as we go along, so good luck!' to me. No chance of abiding by them without linguistic gymnastics and they're so vague.

Giving in to bullies only encourages them.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 18:17

LastGirlOnTheLeft
I'm ok, I don't take it too personally and I have some time to come to terms with our reality.
Its not just me though, there are many women who have to deal with infertility, hysterectomies and gyny cancers.

Some are dealing with this right now,

EmpressOfSpartacus · 18/06/2018 18:37

The way i see it through my 26yr old eyes is if you have a uterus, ovaries etc you are a woman.
If you have a penis and testicles you are a man

I'd tweak that a bit to include women who have hysterectomies etc.

How about if you were born with a vulva & clitoris you're a girl / woman, if you were born with a penis & testicles you're a boy / man?

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2018 18:41

Thanks Ro.Thanks It is despicable that they appropriate women's medical procedures and women's health and women's biology to make a stupid, nonsensical, misogynistic point. What is WRONG with them?

And wow, Munchausen came up with the ManFriday name? She's a smart one.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 18:44

I think she and the other #ManFriday women are bloody geniuses and I'm sure that more women will come together to politely assert #handsoffourhysterectomies (or whatever brilliant idea Munch comes up with next!)

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 18:46

I want all the anger and disgust at these new guidelines turned into a positive for us, not MN but us, the women the GRA will effect.

Who's with me?

Datun · 18/06/2018 18:54

'fucking scum sucking cunt'

DS 2O just asked me what I was snorting about. So I told him.

"Don't you get banned for that language?"

"Nope. But sit down, take the weight off and let me tell you what you do get banned for...".

DS Shock

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2018 18:56

I'm with you! I have two daughters...I can't let them down.

Datun...when it is out like that, it really shows how insane it all is. Banned for telling the truth.

Beamur · 18/06/2018 18:57

Can someone send me a link to the other forum too please? Recently de lurked on these threads but am fairly longtime poster on MN.
I am still incredulous that the negative aspects of this cultural shift are being ignored.
Every person I speak to about this starts off either knowing nothing or maybe being a bit bristly, but when you point out that it's not actually the vast majority of trans people you have any issue with at all, but the inadvertent consequences of the removing of barriers they almost all have a bit of a lightbulb moment.

BesmirchingMotherhood · 18/06/2018 18:58

I cannot believe that person was saying they are an infertile woman and know the pain Ro is going through.

That person said on the last Spartacus thread that their definition of ‘woman’ included ‘strong’ and ‘tender’ and some other stuff. Apparently it does not include ‘empathetic’.

NoCisAllWoman · 18/06/2018 19:01

Flowers Thanks for those links, I'll check them out before pointing my DD to them.

I am in disbelief at how the truth is being distorted, this is particularly frightening for me because my DD has recently declared herself a lesbian. I'm afraid for her, especially if she is drinking the kool aid, she's vulnerable as she is discovering and settling on her identity. A difficult thing to do for many teens, without adding additional issues to the usual hormonal turmoil.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2018 19:01

It is so sinister that these people seem to revel in their lack of empathy, taking to time to remind us over and over again that they see us as nothing.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2018 19:02

How about if you were born with a vulva & clitoris you're a girl / woman, if you were born with a penis & testicles you're a boy / man?

That sort of definition always leaves room for quibbling about people with various abnormalities. The standard definition of 'male' and 'female' are accurate enough.

However, I believe this pair of simple rules is true for most of the population:
If you have ever had the potential to be a fertile female, you cannot ever be a male.
If you have ever had the potential to be a fertile male, you cannot ever be a female.

Datun · 18/06/2018 19:41

NoCisAllWoman

Have you taken a look at Gendertrender?

It's run by a feisty lesbian called Gallus Meg.

I am not a lesbian, but by God, if I were, that's where I would go.

She takes absolutely no prisoners, is incredibly techy, so can 'find out stuff', and has zero truck with this female penis bollocks.

She is also well read, cultural and weeps for young lesbians today who may be influenced by the wrong agenda.

Check it out for yourself first, and perhaps you might find it beneficial for your daughter.

It's worth noting that she has, quite evidently, a lifetime of 'lesbianism and its enemies', behind her. So may not be exactly what your daughter is looking for, at the moment, as it's not pop culture.

Nonetheless, it's fairly awesome watching a woman who gives so few fucks about men and the male gaze, in action.

Liberating, in fact.

thebewilderness · 18/06/2018 20:05

As I understand it we are no longer allowed to say the Munch... word or child abuse in response to news items.

thebewilderness · 18/06/2018 20:07

You be careful what you say on Gallus Mag's site.
She has your IP address if you comment and she knows how to use it.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 20:12

thebewilderness

I was just shortening MunchausensLovelyHorse 's MN name.

Beachcomber · 18/06/2018 20:35

Just to add here that I have had 2 deletions on a thread about gender identity and I don't know where I stand. I was notified of one of the deletions with an email that contained a link to the guidelines. I wasn't notified of the 2nd deletion. I don't know if they were both strikes or not as that wasn't mentioned. I posted on the thread in site stuff and suggested that HQ comment about my case. They haven't yet done so presumably because they are busy or didn't feel that it was necessary to comment.

I didn't use the recently banned acronyms in either post nor did I comment on an individual. I posted my opinion of an ideology (transgenderism) and of an organization (Mermaids).

I haven't taken the time yet to ask HQ what guideline my posts broke but I will.

I am grateful to MN for continuing to host this discussion and I have no wish to cause HQ serious bother. However I don't feel that my comments are the cause of any bother but that it is people who are for censoring women, who express themselves frankly about how transgender politics affect women's rights, who are the real cause of this bother (I'm presuming that my posts were reported).

Stay strong and resilient women but please don't give HQ a hard time. They continue to support us by hosting this discussion and we can only imagine the pressure they are under.

We have to be clever and resistent but HQ are not the "enemy". I really believe that they are doing their utmost and we should support them. I don't know what will happen next but I think we will need to be canny and probably accept things as they are if we hope for the activism here to continue to be hosted.

Bowlofbabelfish · 18/06/2018 20:39

So sorry spontaneous Flowers

It’s only a matter of time before all the regular FWR posters are targeted and banned IMO. I’ve had several replies from certain goady posters to posts I’ve made that are clearly couched in ways to encourage emotional / specific language response.
There are also specific things I’d like to say that I know will get banned. It’s a dark day for open debate, I must say.

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 20:41

Beachcomber I will argue black's white over the ability to have and keep free speech. I will also say when I don't agree. I don't agree with a word you've said about MNHQ but defend your right to say it.
