3 strikes and you're out

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 13:33

Sorry to start this thread but I'm livid. I'm beyond livid to be fair.

I'm now on strike two and have been warned my posting privilege is at risk.

The reason for this thread is; please don't take the new guidelines at face value. I got a strike today for calling a man who presents as a woman a name NOT on the banned list. Obviously now I can't say what it was, I am effectively gagged.

I now have six weeks of no free speech until the strikes I have are wiped - again effectively gagged.

So, you won't see me much as I will NOT refer to men who present as women as the names we are allowed to call them, so will end up banned. I will post bland banal comments that can't offend any sensibilities here and let rip elsewhere where free speech is encouraged.

PLEASE, please, watch your words or MN will use this as a reason the close the FWR board.

Thank God for that Rufus I thought you'd lost the plot somewhere.

I don't feel sorry for MNHQ. It's a problem of their own making. Appeasement never works. You have to stand up to bullies otherwise they just take more and more.

spontaneousgiventime · 21/06/2018 19:20

I don't either. These new rules are so ambiguous as to be laughable. Post xy and z just don't get caught, if you do we'll give you a strike.

ppeasement never works. You have to stand up to bullies otherwise they just take more and more

And we are seeing that in action now

ballsballsballs · 21/06/2018 19:34

Ffs.

I was reported for saying (named person in the public eye) could fuck off (with their opinion about subject x).

This person, as far as I know, is not a visitor to this site. I made no reference to this person's gender.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 21/06/2018 19:39

balls

Where did you say it? On FWR or aibu or....

Its just that no where else can i see this type of moderation in action

Can you imagine the fallout on a 'i hate (insert name of celebrity)...' thread?

There would be carnage

I do feel the urge to report the shit out of those posts...cept that would be 'vexatious' and id be banned

Weezol · 21/06/2018 20:36

Yup. I'm sitting on my hands every time a new thread about Meghan Markle pops up.

spontaneousgiventime · 21/06/2018 20:39

Yup. I'm sitting on my hands every time a new thread about Meghan Markle pops up.

God help us all if it's ever Camilla.

These rules just get dafter by the amendment.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 21/06/2018 20:46

Oh god

Now im torn

Or shall i be kind to myself and just sit here all humphy about the double standards

Hmmm decisions decisions

AngryAttackKittens · 21/06/2018 20:56

The combination of the some animals are more equal than others application and the trying to be fair to everyone declarations are making me roll my eyes so hard it's giving me migraines.

R0wantrees · 21/06/2018 22:30

Its worth remembering that many prominent or active TRAs have described women attending WPUK and other similar meetings or posting here of being Nazi's, akin to the KKK, like the BNP, Vipers nests etc etc etc.
In fact I think this board was described as being like the Nuremberg Rally (sic)

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2018 23:29

If you'd have just put 'XY woman' it may not have been reported

An XY woman is a woman with the AIS intersex condition, so actually it's probably not one that should be used in relation to any sort of trans person. I don't know the exact context but it doesn't sound as though the MNHQ mod who semi-recommended this term was aware of this.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 21/06/2018 23:35

Activists are on Twitter railing against our "transphobia", calling us Nazis and KKK, because they can't out argue us while constrained within the standards of polite Mumsnet type debate. Their extremist ideology only works if they can shout everyone down. This is convincingly illustrated by the figurative mincemeat gender critical FWR regulars make of the TRA spokespeople who pop up to "educate" the board. Many of them are a total gift if you're thinking of lurkers because they so clearly reveal the problems with their position.

Always makes me sigh quietly when women are asked to educate ourselves on the current activist agenda. It was precisely the process of education on this topic that clarified and strengthened my GC views.

ballsballsballs · 22/06/2018 04:44

Rufus I was deleted on this board.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/06/2018 08:06

MNHQ don't actively monitor the boards, so deletions will occur most where there are people doing so with their finger over the Report button. Presumably there are a few folk who don't believe in women's free speech specifically trawling FWR.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 22/06/2018 08:09

Absolutely errol

Which is probably also why there isnt a sticky at the top of aibu and style and beauty saying

'3 mean posts about amanda holden and your ass is grass'

OnionBridie · 22/06/2018 08:12

I don't recognise anyone with a penis as a woman

Not do I and all this ridiculous censoring is going to achieve is more people saying to hell with this, you will never change my mind.

TerfsUp · 22/06/2018 08:59

I don't recognise anyone with a penis as a woman

I don't recognise angels, either; probably because like women with penises, they don't exist.

happydappy2 · 22/06/2018 09:13

Isn't the law at the moment-if you have male sex characteristics you are under the law a male.
Unless you have full gender re assignment you will never be viewed as female under the law.
It was a courtesy when people tried to refer to you as a female but courtesy works both ways-if you demand to be referred to as female people quickly see through the farce.
However the yogyakarta principles state best practise is to not to insist on gender reassignment as this leaves people infertile-so is almost like a state sanctioned sterilisation programme.
This is why we all need to be very aware of what the yogyakarta principles are pushing for-as it could cause chaos!

Ereshkigal · 22/06/2018 09:16

No, that's not true under law. There is no requirement to have surgery for a GRC. I think it's true in social perception though. Most people don't think women can have penises.

Kettlepotblackagain · 22/06/2018 09:17

Happy - this confused me too. Assuming you mean surgery, you dont have to have this to get a GRC, If have a GRC, you are female by law.

happydappy2 · 22/06/2018 09:25

So....the law recognises that a male bodied person, with a penis can be referred to as a woman??????? & classed as a woman???? This is bonkers

AngryAttackKittens · 22/06/2018 09:29

Isn't the law at the moment-if you have male sex characteristics you are under the law a male. Unless you have full gender re assignment you will never be viewed as female under the law.

If only this were true (it's not) we could at least stop worrying about random penis in changing rooms, etc. Alas...

AngryAttackKittens · 22/06/2018 09:30

This is bonkers

Yep.

happydappy2 · 22/06/2018 09:36

FFS is there any possibility of overturning that law? I really thought an individual had to have reassignment surgery to be legally classed as a woman.
Who actually made that law I wonder?
