3 strikes and you're out

Sorry to start this thread but I'm livid. I'm beyond livid to be fair.

I'm now on strike two and have been warned my posting privilege is at risk.

The reason for this thread is; please don't take the new guidelines at face value. I got a strike today for calling a man who presents as a woman a name NOT on the banned list. Obviously now I can't say what it was, I am effectively gagged.

I now have six weeks of no free speech until the strikes I have are wiped - again effectively gagged.

So, you won't see me much as I will NOT refer to men who present as women as the names we are allowed to call them, so will end up banned. I will post bland banal comments that can't offend any sensibilities here and let rip elsewhere where free speech is encouraged.

PLEASE, please, watch your words or MN will use this as a reason the close the FWR board.

I think most people assume that the government runs whatever material they receive from lobbyists through some sort of common sense filter. Such a filter does not appear to exist, in reality they seem to assume the veracity of what they're handed.

@happydappy2

This will explain. It's over complicated language but this is the psuedo intellectual shite that gets shoved at the government which they nod along to. And pass daft laws.

My comment was perfectly reasonable. You have no free speechild these days, not anywhere. You have to lock your self in a cupboard with the wireless on.

I forgot to mention on this thread, I had my second strike removed so only have one now. Appealing does work if you feel a strike is unjust.

I see people all the time saying "well obviously X would never be allowed so it will be fine" when X is something that's being actively campaigned for or is already happening.

So....the law recognises that a male bodied person, with a penis can be referred to as a woman??????? & classed as a woman???? This is bonkers

Unbelievable isn't it.

As Eresh said, I suspect most don't realise this. They just assume.

I really think this is the lone we should take when gathering support. People need to know this.

The idea that it's inappropriate to challenge what appears to be a male person in a sex segregated space for women is absolutely the problem. Particularly for girls who're growing up with that and having it shape their sense of what boundaries it's permissible for them to assert.

I don't actually agree with unnecessary surgery. Chemical castration maybe, the majority of trans women on here have stated they hated having a penis and didn't want it operational to to me it seems a reasonable compromise.

The are problems with the GRC and I think it's very important that body disphoria is part of the requirement. But right now I actually think a bigger problem is the non questioning, woke stance that seems to have emerged. People have become so afraid of giving offence that instead of questioning if someone should be with ladies they wave them in and change policy so everyone is welcome instead of single sex (I'm looking at you topshop). Even when they are aware of the EA exclusions they don't feel able to say no.

I'm not sure what the answer is, unless it becomes commonplace for ID showing sex at every place offering single sex provision (and only a GRC allowing changing sex on official documents like driving license). But as a lot of women have no ID (don't drive, holiday abroad etc -my mum has none!) there is a risk of already disenfranchised women becoming invisible.

I don't know the answer. It would be lovely if I did!

FFS is there any possibility of overturning that law? I really thought an individual had to have reassignment surgery to be legally classed as a woman.
Who actually made that law I wonder?

Yep.

Isn't the law at the moment-if you have male sex characteristics you are under the law a male. Unless you have full gender re assignment you will never be viewed as female under the law.

If only this were true (it's not) we could at least stop worrying about random penis in changing rooms, etc. Alas...
