3 strikes and you're out

Sorry to start this thread but I'm livid. I'm beyond livid to be fair.

I'm now on strike two and have been warned my posting privilege is at risk.

The reason for this thread is; please don't take the new guidelines at face value. I got a strike today for calling a man who presents as a woman a name NOT on the banned list. Obviously now I can't say what it was, I am effectively gagged.

I now have six weeks of no free speech until the strikes I have are wiped - again effectively gagged.

So, you won't see me much as I will NOT refer to men who present as women as the names we are allowed to call them, so will end up banned. I will post bland banal comments that can't offend any sensibilities here and let rip elsewhere where free speech is encouraged.

PLEASE, please, watch your words or MN will use this as a reason the close the FWR board.

My school used to serve them as a compote, so basically cooked in fruit juice? No idea how they did it, wasn't very exciting.

Bi11yOneMate · 18/06/2018 15:03

I think 3 mentions of Christmas before September should get you banned....

Bi11yOneMate · 18/06/2018 15:04

Gooseberry jam. Love it! The main reason I planted a couple of gooseberry bushes last year....

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 15:06

Quick thanks for all the lovely words. I happily share them with all of us who are at the mercy of these unfair guidelines and miss matched moderating.

Mention it all you want, just don't make us listen to any Xmas carols.

I gotta say FWR isn't my first port of call for Christmas planning...

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 15:16

I can recommend the addition of orange zest and vanilla pods to a rhubarb crumble.

Writersblock2 · 18/06/2018 15:19

Here it is: Handmaid’s Tale come to life.

I think we really need to put all of our efforts into doing what we can to protest everything surrounding self-ID before it’s too late and we are erased entirely.

Datun · 18/06/2018 15:20

For every poster, there are dozens of lurkers.

Posters and lurkers include, among others, journalists, politicians, members of Parliament, physicists, biologists, police, lawyers and judges.

When people who are born male say they are infertile women, all these people read that.

All of them. Including those who have no idea about the trans ideology.

They read about the infertile women on here - a website primarily for women - who are distressed as a result.

Then they read that transactivists want to dismantle sex segregation and all it entails.

And that to make women comply, they send bomb threats, rape threats and assault women.

Button pushing is all part of the modus operandi of transactivists. They want to goad you into a reaction.

My advice is to let them speak. Just let it all flow out.

I have yet to see a transactivist say a single thing that furthers their own agenda.

Let's help them.

Errol Gooseberry fool is the best way to consume surplus goosegogs.

Here's a lighter version that uses half Greek yoghurt and half cream.

TerfsUp · 18/06/2018 15:20

I have never eaten gooseberries - they remind me too much of eyeballs. Plus, they look seedy.

OTOH, I love blueberries.

BeyondSceptical · 18/06/2018 15:25

Datum, why you gotta always be so bloody right ? Grin

AssassinatedBeauty · 18/06/2018 15:27

You can get nice big red tinged gooseberries that are almost sweet, and you can eat them raw. Lovely, and not at all like eyeballs!

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2018 15:27

I'm not a massive fan myself, and the little buggers need topping and tailing.

Still, it was a nice thought and he bought loads of other fruit as well.

Thank you Datun as always you're right. In your cool, calm and collected way you nail it. I AM SPARTACUS.

the question is,m is it disablist to allow the maybes, possiblys, it depends on context? how the fuck is someone with autism going to navigate that lot when social situations are tricky enough as it is, and when things being black and white is more useful?

the maybes are risking excluding autistic posters from the debate as there are no hard and fast rules that you can follow and be safe. It apears to depend on the whim of whoever gets the report.

Mistygreyelephants · 18/06/2018 15:28

Hi Spontaneous

I re-regged just to say I adore you!

I haven't read everything you have posted but I've always found you to be the perfect balance of very reasonable, empathetic and yet clear on where you stand. These are the best qualities esp when debating. If you were to be banned it would be a loss to @MNHQ as your qualities are in need to keep a debate robust yet respectful.

(Seriously @MNHQ look at her posting history she's balanced and empathetic and an all round good egg if you lost her the board would go to shite. I would stay regged if more members were like spontaneous.)

Thank you spontaneous for being you, to me you are the best example of a MNetter and they should be proud to have you active on their boards.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/06/2018 15:29

Yep. People always say, listen to trans people (by which they mean trans activists). I have. That's how I became GC. I was far more willing to be accommodating before I started paying attention to what trans activists were saying.

So yeah, keep on talking, Ghost. There are far more people reading than the ones responding here, and I think they need to hear what you have to say. Just not in the way you think.

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 15:30

Mistygreyelephants Oh wow, thank you. I've always seen myself as to the point and often quite abrasive in the way I post. I think what I think and into a post it goes. I like your version of me better. Grin

PurpleCrowbar · 18/06/2018 15:31

Yes. GF reported - maybe they're allowed 4 deletions, who knows - but actually we should hope they stick around.

For the lurkers.

averylongtimeasspartacus · 18/06/2018 15:32

Yes let them talk, as Datun says.

In the meantime, I have some lovely pink gooseberries in my garden which make a very good crumble. Or a fool, if you are looking for something lighter.

PersonWithAVulva · 18/06/2018 15:34

Sorry to hear this. I think I have decided I will continue to post as usual, and if transactivists decide to mass report me, so be it. Once I can get into my PMs I have a message about this other forum anyway (though oddly I cannot get into my account at the moment to check..)

I don't even know the details anymore for the email thats associated with my MN account, so I wouldn't get any telling off messages from mods anyway.

Guessing from what you have said though, that acknowledging biology and not using the banned acronyms is not good enough. Theres a surprise Hmm

PersonWithAVulva · 18/06/2018 15:38

Mumsnet lacks a block or mute feature, so you have to do it yourself. After the first couple of moronic goady posts you recognise them for what they are, and after that you can save time and energy by not reading anything else posted by that person.

I think if HQ decide to stick to these new rules that they cannot even define, they really need to add an ignore button. There are clearly people who are pushing and pushing, hoping that FWR will snap, then they can get their friends to report them. We need an ignore button, or for this three strikes thing to go. One of the two.

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 15:39

I do warn against posting about people who present as the opposite gender and their effect on lurkers. That is also what I got the second strike for. This is why I say, don't take the new guidelines at face value.

@Datun would you mind if I DM you the email I received today? You have a much more eloquent way with words than I and could put across the contents without actually saying what's in there.
