3 strikes and you're out

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 13:33

Sorry to start this thread but I'm livid. I'm beyond livid to be fair.

I'm now on strike two and have been warned my posting privilege is at risk.

The reason for this thread is; please don't take the new guidelines at face value. I got a strike today for calling a man who presents as a woman a name NOT on the banned list. Obviously now I can't say what it was, I am effectively gagged.

I now have six weeks of no free speech until the strikes I have are wiped - again effectively gagged.

So, you won't see me much as I will NOT refer to men who present as women as the names we are allowed to call them, so will end up banned. I will post bland banal comments that can't offend any sensibilities here and let rip elsewhere where free speech is encouraged.

PLEASE, please, watch your words or MN will use this as a reason the close the FWR board.

I'd add
yiz yins.

I'm annoyed that I was deleted and that I may be suspended or even banned if I post again in a similar vein.

And I don't think that what I posted would be judged "beyond the pale" if it had been about another ideology / movement.

HQ has continued to host this discussion when most other organizations have folded. They are continuing to hold the discussion as best they can IMO.

I don't agree with the new deletions but I don't think they are happening because HQ has sold out. I think they are happening because HQ are doing the best they can to continue to host the discussion whilst pragmatically accepting that due to the force and influence of trans politics they have to make concessions (justified or not - I do not think that they are justified).

There are very few other places where women can speak the truth as they do here and I know of no other public forum that lets us post the way we do here.

HQ are women too.

Solidarity.

And I say that as somone who was shocked and annoyed to be deleted for criticizing an ideology.

Rufus is a reindeer with opposable thumbs. I am deeply respectful of reindeer thumbs.

spontaneousgiventime · 18/06/2018 21:56

RTB That post should be pinned at the top of this forum!

Getting back to seriousness, (soz Rufus, will be coming for you with your you're at some point!).

Hi RedToothBrush You, as with others, are people who I read over the last few months who woke me up to all of this.

I'm sorry it's feeling like this for you.

I agree with your points. My post above, about MNHQ being a business, not a charity, still stands. I think many of us are reading stuff like you've posted, understanding the nuance, the debate, what's at risk here.

Some are leaving and 'activating' elsewhere.

Some are staying and helping to open the eyes of females, females like me who didn't understand the full picture till recently, even if that means operating within confusing guidelines and disappointing boundaries.

There are so many routes and ways to do this. You absolutely helped me when you were posting here.

We may not be able to change MNHQ, but whilst they still allow us this space to discuss the issues, we'll take your baton and keep doing it.

I completely understand why you feel disappointed.

Brilliant post Red. That is exactly how so many of us feel I think.

RedToothBrush · 18/06/2018 22:18

There is also a message in there to the hard-line trans activists. You can not shut down women.

One way or another they will find ways to speak. The harder it's pushed the harder women will push back.

That doesn't serve the interests of the trans community in the long run.

I believe the dye is now cast and there is an inevitably to it all. I have no wish to be militant. I'm much more of a suffragist tbh. Militancy isn't my style. But I can see it, and feel it coming. History repeating.

No amount of trying to ban will work because of the underlying truth that exists. The unavoidable one, which even with our best efforts is a part of our inescapable fate in life. Language and surgery and social convention can not change it.

Those within society who are silent politically and totally voiceless are the most vulnerable. They tend to be women and children even in 2018.

And it's them who will suffer most in all this before it's done.

I am sad in this. Grief stricten.

AntiqueOlive · 18/06/2018 22:40

Anotherquoll - I rather like translady. It sounds terribly genteel!

AntiqueOlive · 18/06/2018 22:41

RTB - take courage. We stand with you.

Weezol · 18/06/2018 23:23

RTB - Solidarity. You were one of the posters who gave me the courage to post here for the first time last year.

LaSqrrl · 18/06/2018 23:30

Sorry have not had time to read this thread. But, if the New Rulez are only applicable to this forum... then take the convos into other places on the site.

This may be an unintended consequence of those New Rulez. Wink

AntiqueOlive · 18/06/2018 23:31

^ . Agreed. I am here because of you, and others like you. You made a difference. You continue to make a difference. Together we will go forward. The madness that is the New Think cannot silence facts.

pombear · 18/06/2018 23:37

RTB and others. You are so important. Even though us who are here now may piss you off with our arguments less shaped than yours.

You led, and are leading, the way, helping us to keep the conversation active, live, and assertive.

Southfields · 18/06/2018 23:53

Excuse me for being ignorant, but if you get banned why can't you just re-register? Or do so under a new email address? How could MN know it was you? (Just in case I get banned!)

Southfields · 18/06/2018 23:55

RedToothBrush

When they put us in prison and we hunger strike and the medics get involved they will start writing letters to the Home Secretary saying that we were imprisoned for stating biological truths.

FermatsTheorem · 18/06/2018 23:59

Southfields they keep track of your IP address. (There are ways round this, but it's fiddly.)

My advice is to let them speak. Just let it all flow out.

I have yet to see a transactivist say a single thing that furthers their own agenda.

Let's help them.

Agree, Datun. Sitting on my hands most of the time.

Datun · 19/06/2018 00:09

RedToothBrush

Good to see you. You've been missed.

TheBewilderness thanks for the heads up re Gallus Meg.

And lastly, I have a feeling Ghost has been banned.

It appears HQ are being even handed after all.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/06/2018 00:10

There are ways round this, but it's fiddly.

Unplugging your router for 5 minutes or so may do it.

But people with over a decade of posting history and NNs they're fond of won't want to go down the re-reg route.

WraithTess · 19/06/2018 00:11

Hey, yeah it seems I was, though it only came through about an hour or so ago and without warning. No email, no indication why. Oh well

PurpleCrowbar · 19/06/2018 00:12

I had a message to say that the ectoplasm testicles had been deleted & their contributions elsewhere were being looked at.

Just as I'd come round to agreeing with Datun that they were doing sterling work & should be encouraged to continue.

Ah well. They're like buses - another one along any minute.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/06/2018 00:13

And lastly, I have a feeling Ghost has been banned.

There's someone with a very similar name materialised on another thread. The post is innocuous enough, so maybe they're trying to be more subtle this time.

AngryAttackKittens · 19/06/2018 00:13

It's also possible to engage in a way that draws out the hatred and rage roiling underneath the trying to seem reasonable surface. Invite people to show you (and the lurkers) who they are and they often won't be able to resist doing so.
