Come on, you wonderful women, I’m making a last push here to invite you down to Truro, Cornwall. Come and hear Posie Parker, Miranda Yardley, Jean Hatchet and Judith Green speak. You know you want to....

Tickets still available at Eventbrite

@Melamin - I think that’s part of the problem. I know the WPUK women I’ve been directly involved with are burning out. They have worked very hard and have made a massive dent in bringing issues to public awareness. Whether we agree or disagree with the way this has been handled, I think it’s important to note the great work they have done.

Besides, they’re only human. We all are. Nobody is perfect.

@WhattheWaterShowedMe - yay glad the emails got through. I’ll put my tin hat on before I check the email box. :D

100%.

Melamin · 31/05/2018 11:52

Absolutely. They have done a lot and there is still so much to be done. So many want it to work. Much pressure.

They have got meetings set up in very difficult circumstances and are trying to communicate with politicians on the matter, all whilst countering the misinformation flying around about them.

Italiangreyhound · 31/05/2018 12:01

@Writersblock2 well done for your hard work. Smile Smile

Love the name

"Let A Woman Speak...in Truro" does it have its own web page/event briyr etc? Or is it still under auspices of WPUK?

What you have five/are doing writers is amazing. I was at Basingstoke and heard Hannah. All the speakers were great. The whole thing was slightly surreal (knowing what to expect) but it was good to be together.

I wish you all the best for your time in Truro. Flowers

Italiangreyhound · 31/05/2018 12:05

Ha ha spectacular cross post!

Writersblock2 · 31/05/2018 12:16

Not associated with WPUK, no. Now it’s basically an Only Fools and Horses kinda set-up, and we are learning as we go along! Grin

Do we have any hashtags?

#womanspeak ?

dadcando · 31/05/2018 12:34

Well done - bought my ticket. Anything I can do to help - I am 170 miles away but can get there early and help with setup or anything else. Did you want to Live Stream on Facebook? I could see if I could sort that out if you want? Or could film it in any event... Now crossing fingers that mystery speaker is Magdalen Berns. Does anyone know how she is after being attacked? Thanks again - superb work!

ToeToToe · 31/05/2018 12:45

Yes please to the hashtag for livetweeting, and the FB live feed! For those of us that can't be there...

I watched the whole of Venice's Bristol meeting live - it was ace.

Writersblock2 · 31/05/2018 13:20

That hashtag works!

OP posts:
Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 13:48

Oh yes to the live stream or a video. I don't think I can be there sadly, but would be great to see it.

Jeanhatchet · 31/05/2018 14:12

My suggestion for hashtag is #LAWS

As in Let a woman speak about #LAWS

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 14:15

That's perfect Jean!

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 14:17

Or LAWSUK if LAWS will have too much other noise.

Writersblock2 · 31/05/2018 15:01

Lovely the hashtags. Sneaky bump while I’m here...

Couldn't agree more.

BeyondSceptical · 31/05/2018 16:23

Another bump and an agreement with that ^

ScienceIsTruth · 01/06/2018 15:37

Will this definitely be going ahead? It's just that it's over 300 miles from where I live, so I'd be driving a long way (about 6 hrs) and then staying over somewhere and going back the next day.

I'd really love to attend, but don't want the money wasted if it doesn't, iykwim.

SwearyG · 01/06/2018 15:57

A new event has been planned on the same night, Science - details (and bunfight) on new thread here

Writersblock2 · 01/06/2018 16:00

Hi Science - it’s going ahead, yes.
