Come on, you wonderful women, I’m making a last push here to invite you down to Truro, Cornwall. Come and hear Posie Parker, Miranda Yardley, Jean Hatchet and Judith Green speak. You know you want to....

Tickets still available at Eventbrite

Precisely! WPUK have some fabulous work and I hope they continue to do so, but we must not feel we need permission from another organisation to take action on this issue. As was mentioned last night (by Jean), so many of us have never felt as strongly about another issue as we do this. It’s vital.

Grassroots activism has a long history. And it works! I really hope we see more women taking the bull by the horns where they live.

(And yes, we are absolutely buzzing. It’s spurring us on. As did the Mumsnet Jammie Dodgers and Pom Bears!). Grin

Brilliant meeting, thank you so much to all the organisers. Great to meet so many kindred spirits and learn so much.

Kenworthington · 10/06/2018 10:02

Well . What an amazing evening! Thanks so much to all the organisers and helpers and speakers. Sorry for launching myself at you @CorbynTrouserPress. Was a bit pissed on wine and general excitement Grin

placemats · 10/06/2018 10:16

All the speakers were great but Jean's account was incredibly moving and terribly sad. I for one am grateful for the work she does.

QueasySqueezy · 10/06/2018 10:29

Great meeting, thank you to Writersblock2 and everyone who made it happen.

Thank you to the speakers for coming down to Truro for us. It is so powerful to see women like you who are making a stand.

Let’s take this moment to start taking action. Tell everyone you can, do everything you can, (who’s got man-plans for Friday?) and let’s use this spark of enthusiasm so we can share notes at the next meeting.

CorbynTrouserPress · 10/06/2018 11:08

@Ken, I have never been so awesomely launched at, you made my night! Grin

CorbynTrouserPress · 10/06/2018 11:13

And Ken, I was going to send you a link to the TransgenderTrend schools guidance.

Here it is for everyone. Stephanie is getting crowdfunding to print these.

WillYouPickSomething · 10/06/2018 11:16

Can we please have a clip we can link to, of Sweaty channelling Churchill?

Ereshkigal · 10/06/2018 11:28

Just watched the live stream. What an excellent meeting with some great questions. Well done everyone.

Ereshkigal · 10/06/2018 11:29

And Sweary's Churchill speech was magnificent!

Ereshkigal · 10/06/2018 11:30

The worst scenario for them is that dozens of women's groups start popping up all over and that there is not one central "authority" in WPUK for them to take aim at.

YY. Wouldn't that be amazing.

MrsSteveMcDonald · 10/06/2018 11:37

I didn't get to speak to many people last night but I enjoyed chatting with those that I did.

I might wear my manfriday badge to work on Friday as I work on a building site that day and am normally the only female there. Do you think they will consider me one of the lads?

WillYouPickSomething · 10/06/2018 11:41

Where can you purchase #ManFriday badges?

I am going on strike as a woman on a Friday, until we gain back our sex discrimination laws and protections.

Event can be seen here:

Good afternoon!

Last night was absolutely excellent. Thank you so much for organising it, Writers and Corbyn.

It was a real pleasure to meet so many engaged people and watch you all start to build your networks in the South West.

We’re now back home after a long old day in the car. I hadn’t realised how far away Truro is when I said I’d come down, but I’d do the drive again in a heartbeat to support you all.

Grassroots activism at its finest.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 10/06/2018 16:56

I just wanted to post my support for you all. I have been swearing at the trolling on the science teacher thread and feeling positively grumpy with a hangover, but them have watched some of the meeting and have been given a renewed hope.

Jean, Posie, Hannah - You are all fucking brilliant women and the world is better that you have a voice and a platform. More please.

I also agree that we don't have to all agree on all other bloody issues.

This is a single issue fight. The TRAs want to use the identity politics pish against us. Don't let them.

Well done to Writer too. And thank you.

Writersblock2 · 10/06/2018 17:40

@SwearyG Thank you. It was an honour to have you. Just watched the event back - oh my gosh you were all so good!!! I loved how engaged the audience was, and there was plenty of time for discussion and questions. What a great atmosphere.

If there’s anything we can do to help you, just let us know. Smile

Churchill Sweary ftw!

Yup. This. It shouldn’t be political. We are all in this together and if we lose then we ALL lose. If we win, we ALL win. In-fighting is bullshit and I refuse to participate. We need women speaking.

Hello,

Wow. What an amazing weekend!!

A special thanks to @Corbyn and @Writersblock2 for organising a fabulous event, proving to women all around the country that they can bang their own drums in this fight.

Thanks to @jeanhatchet and @swearyG for travelling across country in spite of the mob.

And thanks to all who attended and watched.

I loved meeting so many of you.... and have a crushing hangover.

therealposieparker · 10/06/2018 19:01

"Can we please have a clip we can link to, of Sweaty channelling Churchill?"

Well it was hot.

Picassospaintbrush · 10/06/2018 19:23

It was indeed a fabulous night. I've said on another thread I had the company of a woman who was married and has children with an AGP narcissistic. She was really happy to meet another woman who had the same experience. She has become a feminist as a result of her experience.

She is energised to create a global hub to share knowledge of this. I am sure we will hear more here soon from her.

Any one else in the same situation who wants to connect DM me.

Plus we made it down to the Tate St Ives today to see the enormous impact of work made in Cornwall about Cornwall has made on the international art world. Truly inspirational.

Writersblock2 · 10/06/2018 19:27

Picasso Your generosity really inspired me throughout this (I don’t think we met at the event?), thank you. I’m so glad you got to make some connections. And St Ives is ace! Grin

I was at the Todmorden WPUK event on Thursday and there were no protestors or hassle at all, seems there was none in Truro either. Why do people think this is? The TRAcultists and their handmaidens can't have given up, surely?

therealposieparker · 10/06/2018 19:36

Not enough middle class university kids?
