Pours Wine and Gin for battle-weary Melamin Smile

Melamin · 01/06/2018 20:05

Thanks so much Grin

I came to this thread and it is an oasis of calm in spite of the attempts to derail.

I really want the meeting to go ahead even though I cannot go myself. I am sure I am not alone.

Picassospaintbrush · 01/06/2018 20:08

I was in two minds as it's a long way but I am determined to go now.

DarthArts · 01/06/2018 20:08

@Melamin

Feel the same...sigh

I see the war still rages "over there".

Time for GinGinGin

@Writersblock2 - wish you all the best for a successful meeting and thanks you yourself and the local team who organised it. I'll be tuning in on live feed if available or twitter.

Ereshkigal

*That will be because #nodebate from your TRA chums, dear Poula

Eresh... I don't know a single Trans Rights Activist personally or afaik acquainted with one. So far from chums. In fact some of the stuff I see written by certain "TRA" probably gets up my chuff more than it does yours.
However, I've read about these meetings and watched them. They're often referred to as debates but they simply aren't. They are nothing more than community centre echo chambers and recruiting grounds. Which is a shame because I would prefer more debate and less vitriol all round.

Picassospaintbrush · 01/06/2018 20:13

@SwearyG

You were asking about accommodation up thread. I have a spare room in my holiday home if you want it.
Its twin beds.

Picassospaintbrush · 01/06/2018 20:21

They inform. They explain the implications with real live situations.
Lucy Massoud for example.
AGP explanations from someone who has tracked the history for decades.
A live impromptu conversation between the leader of the WEP and an Academic who was ousted by trans people.

Lesbians who have had their communities filled with men blowing them apart. I was at a meeting last week with 75 vey unhappy lesbians. They brought themselves together to talk about their own situation.
Ousted Labour party officials heartbroken about their party.

Don’t dismiss this. It’s real.

ToeToToe · 01/06/2018 20:22

Picasso, I really, really want to go, but I'm 7 hours away and I have 3 kids to get to school (plus one in the middle of gcse's!). a woman's work is never delegated...

I want live streaming (please please) Grin

Writersblock2 · 01/06/2018 20:42

I took SarahConnor1’s suggestion and watched some trash TV and contemplated my navel. Much better now.

We are working on live-streaming and various other things. I’d rather like a pin badge that declares me as an old fashioned cunty woman but that might have to wait.

We have space if more women wish to travel down! It’s going to be great. I mean, it’s Cornwall! Nothing ever happens here, and look what’s going on! I was in Truro earlier and I turned to my husband and said “next week this place is going to be packed with feminists. Isn’t that amazing?” Grin (Poor bloke).

You will have a ball, Writers. Every time I've watched this stuff, the women are literally buzzing afterwards. Hope you don't get too much stress in the meantime - you're doing a grand thing Wine

YY. The meetings and socialising after are so great. Consciousness raising is powerful. Female energy is powerful. (Sorry to sound a bit woo) 🍷

QuoadUltra · 01/06/2018 21:40

Well done, OP, for literally keeping the show on the road. So important.

Sarahconnor1 · 02/06/2018 09:52

Glad the trash tv helped OP. Hope it all goes well, it's a little too far for me to travel otherwise I think I would come along.

Writersblock2 · 02/06/2018 10:05

We’d love to have you!

Sarahconnor1 · 02/06/2018 11:34

It's about a billion miles from me (an exaggeration) but would take the best part of a day to get there, alas work gets in the way.

Writersblock2 · 02/06/2018 12:15

Well, we will be live streaming (hopefully) and we have a sparkly new twitter account to follow (@ let_woman) :)

OP posts:
Ereshkigal · 02/06/2018 12:18

Looking forward to the live stream!

BeyondSceptical · 02/06/2018 12:20

Do you reckon I could watch the live stream on my phone from a concert? Grin

CunningOperative · 02/06/2018 16:51

I’ve got a ticket! Grin

Writersblock2 · 02/06/2018 17:39
