Come on, you wonderful women, I’m making a last push here to invite you down to Truro, Cornwall. Come and hear Posie Parker, Miranda Yardley, Jean Hatchet and Judith Green speak. You know you want to....

Wow, do you deserve some gin! Well done writers

dadcando · 31/05/2018 08:51

Got generic email from Eventbrite refunding but nothing from WPUK about your email Writersblock2...

HarryLovesDraco · 31/05/2018 08:59

WPUK have literally just posted on Facebook saying an alternative may be taking place and they will post more later

BeyondSceptical · 31/05/2018 09:02

Me and my friend are coming in from Brighton for this. Disappointed in WPUK but glad a meeting is still going ahead. Well done @Writersblock2 it must be gutting to have put so much into this and to potentially have it all fall apart.

Looking forward to meeting you, and have sent you an email.

Writersblock2 · 31/05/2018 09:16

Thanks everyone. Sorry if I’m slow in responding - it’s basically just me at the moment! I will get round to you all.

Yes, WPUK told me there were some
Issues with the email they sent out (as in it didn’t go out as thought) and so another has been sent out which should include my contact email. If anyone gets that could they let me know? Just wanted to make sure!

I have to say, I am thoroughly bolstered by the amazing women around me. Both Jean and Posie have reached out and are offering way more than they needed in the way of help to make this happen. We’ve also had an offer of a new speaker (you will all love her!), not sure if I can say who yet, but it’s definitley put a smile back on my face!!!

In Jean’s words: women are amazing!

This is really good news, thank you Writersblock2 for the work you are putting in.

MotherTERF · 31/05/2018 09:41

Fab news! I'm there! Please continue to keep me posted, thank you for all your hard work to make this happen x

Pratchet · 31/05/2018 09:44

Great news. Just wonderful. Well done organisers. Women en marche💪🏻💪🏻

pickledparsnip · 31/05/2018 09:46

My heart sunk as I was reading through the thread and saw it had been cancelled. So so fucking pleased there will still be a meeting. Is Posie coming? I would really love to hear her speak. Very disappointed in WPUK.

therealposieparker · 31/05/2018 09:47

I am speaking and will be more than happy to answer any questions.

therealposieparker · 31/05/2018 09:48

well done OP...

Rightio. Writers, this is probably making things very tough for the event. What do you need from us?

ToeToToe · 31/05/2018 10:03

Excellent news Brew

Writersblock2 · 31/05/2018 10:08

If anybody wants to help with the admin side, that would be fab. Might also need an extra person willing to go and meet and greet. The venue is hum...interesting, and so we will need to meet attendees in groups and take them to it.

I can confirm so far we have Posie (yay!), Jean and the wonderful Hannah Clarke from ManFriday has offered to come all the way down to join us and speak. :)

The event title is “Let a Woman’s Speak.”

“Let a Woman’s Speak.”

Really?

Picassospaintbrush · 31/05/2018 10:12

Yay, i'm coming.

Jeanhatchet · 31/05/2018 10:17

I'll be there. And yes "Let A Woman Speak...in Truro" is the suggested title.

MillyTheKid · 31/05/2018 10:20

Is Miranda attending? I saw someone speculating on whether he would pull out because of the Posie decision.

Melamin · 31/05/2018 10:25

Another one whose heart sunk after reading the wpuk announcement, even though I am a long way from Truro. Well done everyone who is getting this going, and hopefully this can be the start of a very effective local group of gc feminists. I am willing this to work.

I did post upthread that it was exciting that the meetings were coming thick and fast - but maybe that is part of the problem?

ToeToToe · 31/05/2018 10:34

I am also a very long way from Truro - but I really you all well with the organising. Sounds like you've a great bunch of women involved Thanks

WhatTheWaterShowedMe · 31/05/2018 10:47

Hooray! @Writesblock2 I did get the email from WPUK re the cancellation and Evenbrite have refunded me and my friend
