Come on, you wonderful women, I’m making a last push here to invite you down to Truro, Cornwall. Come and hear Posie Parker, Miranda Yardley, Jean Hatchet and Judith Green speak. You know you want to....

Clever switched on women, great convo over ciggies outside about using freedom of philosophical thoughts which a woman used to shut down a disciplinary about misgendering.

If you are on here please share, that is really important.

I would add that political afilliation is a human right, and this is political. You cannot be told that you cannot express your political views.

Writersblock2 · 10/06/2018 19:53

Picasso I’m not saying an individual shouldn’t be political, rather this issue isn’t political. It transcends individual political affiliations.

Yes, I used the wrong word there. It's not about party affiliation. Because we are dealing with legislation it is a political matter. Politicians make laws. This is non partisan. It is all women and the abuse of our rights by law makers in Parliament.

Writersblock2 · 10/06/2018 20:08

Absolutely :)

"Not enough middle class university kids?"

It's exam/end of year coursework/home for the summer -time.

MotherTERF · 10/06/2018 22:45

It was great, I came away really inspired. I've been showing my mum some of the footage this eve as she has been staying with a friend who has been learning about pronouns in some diversity training. I calmly explained the fact that we are in a war on women and thought who better to illustrate that then those 3 amazing ladies last night.

Ereshkigal · 10/06/2018 23:20

I was at the Todmorden WPUK event on Thursday and there were no protestors or hassle at all, seems there was none in Truro either. Why do people think this is? The TRAcultists and their handmaidens can't have given up, surely?

Or Basingstoke which was lovely and chilled. I'll reserve judgement until after the London WNTT meeting on Wednesday.

Writersblock2 · 10/06/2018 23:25

@MotherTERF well done! How did she react?

Picasso and Writers

If you have a gender critical political stance/ philosophy/belief then that is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act.

Forcing preferred pronouns would be direct discrimination to which there is no defence.

Elletorro · 10/06/2018 23:33

Mumsnets guidance on preferred pronouns is likely in breach of the Equality Act

But who wants to sue Mumsnet? My preferred target would be Stonewall.

Pratchet · 10/06/2018 23:49

I think they've realised how bad it looks now that the consultation is open. If there are protesters on Thursday, I predict they will be women.

MillyTheKid · 11/06/2018 00:10

I'd imagine deepest Cornwall isn't somewhere where there's too many potential protesters

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 11/06/2018 09:42

So pleased to hear this was a success and hopefully the start of more activity in Cornwall so I can get involved :-)

Writersblock2 · 11/06/2018 13:49

Thanks all! We will be starting new threads as we plan the next event. Hope you will join us over there. :)

Just wanted to say a big thanks to the 3 speakers from Saturday- a friend of mine and I travelled from Essex and Brighton to hear you and it was well worth the journey. Particularly big shout out to Jean, her speech was powerful and emotional. She made excellent points about the importance of ensuring refuges are kept as female only spaces and the ridiculous ways she’s been called out for being “transphobic” because her bike rides for murdered women are not “trans inclusive”. She’s my new hero.

Jeanhatchet · 12/06/2018 21:09

@WhatTheWatersShowedMe awwww bless you that's so kind of you. Thanks for making such an effort too.

Jeanhatchet · 14/06/2018 07:03

@Ereshkigal well..... I think you got your answer .... the woman screaming obscenities from the floor at Sheila Jeffreys shows that nothing is subsiding. It was an act of great dignity that despite this Venice Allan allowed her/him (I genuinely don't know) to remain in the audience and also to speak. However they continued to harass both Magdalen Berns and Sheila Jeffreys with disgusting insults.

Kenworthington · 15/06/2018 15:11

I’m in Turkey, ever so slightly pissed on amaretto and coke, in my spotty bikini man spreading at the bar. It’s a strong look for #manfriday
