Come on, you wonderful women, I’m making a last push here to invite you down to Truro, Cornwall. Come and hear Posie Parker, Miranda Yardley, Jean Hatchet and Judith Green speak. You know you want to....

@Writersblock2 I’m so not a hugger Grin. I can do biscuits though

Writersblock2 · 09/06/2018 08:40

@Kenworthington - me either, but I’ll put up with it! Haha. Especially for biscuits.

Have a great time and hope it goes well. I'm sure it will. I wish I could be there. Looking forward to watching.

RaininSummer · 09/06/2018 08:51

Just realised I hadn't seen the venue details. Rummaged through spambox and there it was. Didn't sleep well last night as too excited, and too much cheese. Safe travels everbody.

I'm bringing my Mum. We've been chatting about the GRA recently, and she had no idea what was going on. Quite a lot of my friends are very nonplussed about it all, very much live and let live. I cannot wait to be in a room with women who share similar thoughts. I think my friends are getting fed up with me harking on about it all the time. Been feeling a bit like I'm banging my head against a brick wall.

Writersblock2 · 09/06/2018 10:08

@PickledParsnip - so great that you’re bringing your mum. Everyone in my “real life” thinks it’s a whole lot of nothing too (read: they know nothing about it and don’t want to) apart from my DH. I did try to speak to a colleague about it but she just didn’t understand.

When I first met up with some of the women organising with me it took a while for me to realise that it was okay to speak about this stuff out loud. So used to having to hide it.

Tonight will be surreal - I can’t wait!

Writersblock2 I know exactly what you mean about having to hide it. I'm fucking fed up of it. Can't wait to hear women speak freely this evening!

Getting the train from Falmouth, and should be in at 6ish. Can I join the meet up beforehand?

Writersblock2 · 09/06/2018 14:01

Will DM you!

Is anyone already at the pre-meet meeting up place? I'm sitting outside with a glass of pepsi and a packet of crisps Smile (classy)

Writersblock2 · 09/06/2018 18:09

They are inside!

Live streaming is here:

JoanSummers · 09/06/2018 19:01

I couldn't make it and wasn't able to get on here earlier to give away my tickets, sorry. I hope you all have a brilliant evening and that maybe I'll get another chance to meet you SW women another time.

pombear · 09/06/2018 19:42

Thank you for livestreaming, and I'm torn between wishing the live stream blocked the trolls/men and actually thinking they're displaying the exact thing many of us are up against.

Jean - you are incredibly strong and that was a fantastic speech. Thank you for your seven hour drive to do so.

sleepingdragons · 09/06/2018 19:55

Watching the live stream now :)

pombear · 09/06/2018 20:12

Jean - I completely recognise the risk you've taken here on speaking out publically. Your work on the rides is amazing.

Hannah - go for it! Plain speaking.

I recognise that there are problems with the challenges within this all-women movement right now, and that there is a lack of diversity in the 'let a woman speak' room (though I'm not sure what the make-up of the room is if you turned the camera). But this conversation needs to happen everywhere, in rooms like this, in your coffee shop, with your friends, with your MPs.

sleepingdragons · 09/06/2018 20:13

Hannah from Manfriday on now:

BingBongSong · 09/06/2018 20:14

I am on the live stream Smile.

pombear · 09/06/2018 20:19

Thank you SwearyG. Lots of us feel like we can't do what you're doing right now. We're writing, donating, speaking, just not on social media.

You, Jean, Posie, Jana, Jeni, Annie R, Victoria, Sarah, Joani and so many others are helping us to frame our conversations. Your politics may not align, but your message does.

And helps us to frame our own discussions.

LangCleg · 09/06/2018 20:24

Sweary - you are posh! And brilliant!

WillYouPickSomething · 09/06/2018 20:28

Can we please have a transcript of ManFriday self-Iding as Churchill?

pombear · 09/06/2018 20:34

Jean - you're right. Your stance, and others, are making all of us braver to talk the truth more publicly.
