Yes. We need police to do their jobs. Need some contact re this before meetings.

Do you know the more and more I go about my life and see what other women are subjected to I think I will start wearing a bodycam 24/7.

MissTeri · 21/04/2018 23:08

Do you know the more and more I go about my life and see what other women are subjected to I think I will start wearing a bodycam 24/7 A body cam might only tell the police who the perp is when they've recovered your body. Self defense lessons and arm yourself with anything that you're legally allowed to.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 21/04/2018 23:08

Here's a link to Sisters Uncut Bristol's Facebook page, where they're celebrating their actions. <a class="break-all" href="//‪www.facebook.com/sistersuncutbristol" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">‪www.facebook.com/sistersuncutbristol

LizzieSiddal · 21/04/2018 23:10

Would crowd funding work to pay for proper security at these meetings?

I’d love to see how these little shits would react when faced with properly trained security staff.

merrymouse · 21/04/2018 23:10

But that's a very long winded way of putting it when there's a perfectly good modifier already available in cis.

‘Cis’ isn’t useful because it implies that everyone agrees on what ‘gender’ and ‘woman’ and ‘man’ mean, and that everyone has a gender identity.

More than that it implies that I can identify as non-binary and somehow escape all the medical and societal consequences of being a woman, that the difference between me and a man is a gender identity that I have agreed to. I can’t and I don’t agree.

The only thing ‘cis’ really expresses is the ideology of the person using the word.

Elletorro · 21/04/2018 23:12

I imagine that would be a question of interacting with the venue to use their staff and pay for it. Although isn’t that already included in venue hire if you are at a pub/night club?

Maybe nightclubs would be better venues on that logic?

Xenophile · 21/04/2018 23:12

There was proper security at the venue.

I think the problem is that as soon as the Police or security started to sort things out, the TRAs squealed that they were being assaulted. They weren't.

This is terrorism. Anyone who supports this, supports terrorism against women.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 21/04/2018 23:13

I was thinking more just to record and publish the shit we put up with on a daily basis and when we try to meet and discuss issues. But er, thanks! Grin

ReluctantCamper · 21/04/2018 23:15

Over 5.000 people have watched that video already. I think sisters uncut maybe celebrating prematurely. They've certainly raised a comment from Jess Phillips MP on twitter, and I don't expect she's the only one who's thought errr hang on a minute.

I suspect (and fervently hope) that this will turn out to be a massive own goal.

RosenbergW · 21/04/2018 23:16

Julie Bindel has mahoosive ovaries! :D

I see exactly what the speakers meant. These men in their masks are intimidating, but as time in the video ticks by, they do seem like inept, clueless posh boys. And the giggling!

I hope every one of them gets ID'd and outed to their mums, their Unis, and their jobs.

What a shower of wankers.

Elletorro · 21/04/2018 23:16

I suppose most security firms aren’t equipped to deal with an organised onslaught rather than drunken punters??

Wanderabout · 21/04/2018 23:16

Suffice it to say that the 'cis' would need a wash afterwards

Grin
thebewilderness · 21/04/2018 23:17

Srsly! You simply cannot have an effing hissy fit over misgendering and then turn around and assign cis to women without so much as a by your leave, and when they say no you think it is an effing negotiation.
People who refuse to take no for an answer are not safe to be around.

MissTeri · 21/04/2018 23:19

There is a video that a man took following along after a woman walking through London. It shows exactly what she has to put up with every step of the way. I think body camera are an excellent idea.

tobee · 21/04/2018 23:20

I can't see this kind of behaviour changing anytime soon with student unions etc no platforming and crapping on about safe spaces. The "cream" of Britain's youth being told, diddums, although you're bright enough to be here, you won't cope with people disagreeing with you. And a small bunch of people saying what views you can have. So when someone rationally challenges them they just use brute force.

StaplesCorner · 21/04/2018 23:21

Can I just ask why stuff like this is only posted on the Feminism board - surely this needs more traffic. Worrying doesn't cover it.

NotTerfNorCis · 21/04/2018 23:22

I hope every one of them gets ID'd

Well there is one individual dropping heavy hints on Julie Bindel's FB post that they were there. For example: 'Quite a few people (including cis women) did get handy with the venue's security later on, although clearly this didn't happen seeing as you believe that women are incapable of violence.' Also ' I wonder why Julie and her beta version instantly whipped out the cameras and started posting close ups of people online and started personally harassing one of my friends before deleting the tweet.'

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 21/04/2018 23:23

I've always been a bit over dramatic according to my mother!!

Grin she might have slight point!

CoolCarrie · 21/04/2018 23:23

I an not “cis” Hermione!

Waddlelikeapenguin · 21/04/2018 23:24

I am so so so impressed by how calm they stayed. Poor show by the police though.

The 'are we the baddies' sketch came to my mind too Grin

thebewilderness · 21/04/2018 23:25

They posted the video because men were claiming they were thrown down the stairs.
It looks like they were trying to block cameras and in one case tying to take a phone from one of the women.
DARVO doesn't work as well for abusers when there is video.

Wanderabout · 21/04/2018 23:25

This has got to change, or we are heading to a very dark place as a society as a whole, over and above anything to do with the GRA stuff.
