I don't understand why the police allowed a group who had nothing to to with that meeting to enter the building or remain in the building, when they were preventing the normal business of the building to happen.

Unsure. But the police powers usually invoked at demos would be obstruction of the highway or trespass. Since these people were not blocking a public thoroughfare, obstruction wouldn't count. And for trespass, the Jam Jar would have to request the police to act - highly unlikely given this venue. Same reason for not buckling to TRA calls for cancellation would lead them to allow the TRAs to protest (unless things got actually violent and out of control, presumably).

I don’t have friends to go with and don’t know anyone. I’ll just wait until nearer the time then see if a group wants to meet up prior to going to the meeting place.

The USA has many flaws but it has a long proud history of free speech and letting anyone spout any old rubbish because you might be spouting shit but I'd die for your right to spout it.

Hate speech laws etc are much more stringent elsewhere than in the US. This is why organizations such as the Westboro Church are allowed to continue in America and would be shut down in the UK.
