www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/04/12/radical-feminist-warned-refer-transgender-defendant-assault/

The asked that preferred pronouns be used

Ms MacLachlan replied: "I'm used to thinking of this person who is a male as male."

Martin Ponting?

NotTerfNorCis · 13/04/2018 18:44

@Juells I puzzled over that bit. What does it mean? Extract feminised labour? Or maybe I don't want to know.

Juells · 13/04/2018 18:45

I don't know either

LangCleg · 13/04/2018 18:47

I think carceral is rapidly becoming one of my least favourite words.

LangCleg · 13/04/2018 18:48

extract feminised labour from trans women

Wasn't that the ones Ada was making hundreds of cups of tea for?

NotTerfNorCis · 13/04/2018 18:49

It's just incredible that people calling themselves feminists object to locking up violent men (or people, I suppose). It shows how far some branches of feminism have been warped.

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 18:49

It means Dr Cable is trying to position specifically gender critical women as part of the oppressor class over trans identified males within a marxist framework. I think!

YY.

NotTerfNorCis · 13/04/2018 18:51

@LangCleg Good point! When Ada said 'we must show no mercy', I assumed something a bit more dramatic than.. a ladylike making of cups of tea.

NotTerfNorCis · 13/04/2018 18:52

@Ereshkigal Thinking about it, he might have meant that by being gender critical, women deny transwomen the status of ordinary citizens and so force them into prostitution. But I may be off the mark there.

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 18:54

That may well be it. But most of these transactivists see sex work as empowering though, which makes me pause.

LangCleg · 13/04/2018 18:55

The DH is now saying, "Can I call it forced feminisation every time you tell me to put the kettle on? Because I feel you should say please more often."

NotTerfNorCis · 13/04/2018 18:56

I know I shouldn't be laughing. Grin

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 18:58

Lang Grin

Juells · 13/04/2018 18:59

That Mail article is interesting. The attack was described as "a brawl" that occurred "when protesters clashed over the rights of trans women."

Women weren't protesting about the rights of trans women, they were protesting about women's rights. Totally different.

LangCleg · 13/04/2018 19:02

You can laugh at him. Don't laugh with him. It encourages him to no good effect. (In case you hadn't guessed, I am typing this because he is reading over my shoulder.)

MimpiDreams · 13/04/2018 19:04

It also says he slapped her when it was a punch.

CunningOperative · 13/04/2018 19:05

They weren't even protesting. They simply wanted to talk.

picklemepopcorn · 13/04/2018 19:17

So it's not 450 fine. It's 150 fine, 250 costs, and something else.

Juells · 13/04/2018 19:25

Sorry, yes CunningOperative, you're right of course. Just got discombobulated by the nonsense.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 13/04/2018 19:28

Glad they were found guilty. Had thought the fine very low but glad to read above that it's not.
Utterly shocked that the judge directed a witness to lie.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 13/04/2018 19:36

Ok i missed a whole page Blush
I'm back to thinking the fine was crazy low.
also think lang should drink more tea Grin

Elendon · 13/04/2018 19:43

If you are sworn to tell the truth in a court of law then you tell the truth.

Basic.

SarahAr · 13/04/2018 19:48

Oppositional Defiant Disorder FFS? So someone has trouble with 'authority figures' & gets brownie points for it?
It is not a good look to make fun of a mental health disorder.

According to MayDay4Women the Judge took into account Maria's inconsistent use of the preferred pronouns in court when sentencing.
Don't whether this happened or not, but in any legal proceedings you should always show the judge the utmost respect.

It is not going to help anyone's cause to make clearly false and derogatory allegations against a living person. Either MN moderators are going to have to work overtime or else MN will end up being sued.
