I'm struggling for words....

What's DV done right supposed to look like?

This is part of Jane trying to argue why women don't need single sex spaces....own goal right there.

Ah but trans women are special women, aren't they?

BlackeyedSusan · 26/03/2018 22:49

they are either women or they are not. can';t have it both ways.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 26/03/2018 22:54

BlackeyedSusan

if you argue that it is a womans fault for getting themselves murdered, then it is a trans womens fault for getting themselves murdered too, that is if they are the same as women. Is she really saying that poor person murdered this weekend is at fault for being too delicate?

Terrific point. Grin

DarthArts · 26/03/2018 22:59

I really fucking despair....

Behold my complete lack of surprise that this loathsome, misogynistic person thinks that there is a "right" way for domestic violence to happen. Just be careful not to leave bruises in places that might result in you getting caught, eh? Fine to terrorize your partner, but killing them, well, that's a bit much?

The fact that this man is allowed to speak on women's issues makes me very angry. He understands as much about being a woman as I do about being a jet engine.

SecretsRsecrets · 27/03/2018 03:38

@MiaowTheCatFlowers

nooka · 27/03/2018 03:39

Are both those people: Jane Fae and Jane Francesca Fay the same person? So this individual is busy talking to themselves? That on it's own seems very bizarre, even disregarding any of the content of the conversation.

When is hate speech against women going to be criminalised?

SecretsRsecrets · 27/03/2018 03:44

I have to admit I am a bit afraid of twitter. It smells suspiciously like 'being owned'. There is a lot of money behind this movement and I think they are getting some perks. Is this happening on FB too? Maybe I'm just paranoid?

SophoclesTheFox · 27/03/2018 07:00

Of course it's not YOUR fault that the words you wrote, on your twitter, as part of your weird discourse excusing male violence, were understood by people who read them to mean the things they meant, Jane.

I'm sure it's women over-reacting again, just like we do when men accidentally smack us about a bit too hard, and we over-react by getting ourselves murdered.

Badgerthebodger · 27/03/2018 07:00

I’ll tweet it, the absolute fucker. What a horrible bastard

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 27/03/2018 07:14

It's an absolute insult that these evil men try to call themselves feminists. How dare they!!

Ifonlyus · 27/03/2018 07:14

Agree about the narcissistic rage. They appear disproportionately bothered by the manfriday campaign pissed off that they are getting more media attention than JF?

No I don't think so. They are both misogynistic in the way they operate. There are a lot of TIMs and sympathetic men in these organisations.

Bloody women and our egg-shell skulls! Is there literally nothing we can get right?

FencingFightingTorture35 · 27/03/2018 08:28

The Man Friday campaign has really got under their skin hasn't it?

DeltaG · 27/03/2018 08:28

@freespeechforwomen

Ok, you're right. But I just don't understand how women can be threatened with rape and physically attacked by these 'people' and no-one says a thing, but we have to be whiter than white at all times even in the face of disgusting misogyny for fear of being called the 'abusers'.

The world has gone fucking mad.

AngryAttackKittens · 27/03/2018 08:40

"Do it to Julia, not to me", that's why. Nobody wants the narcissistic rage turned on them if they try to intervene, and a lot of men hate feminists anyway so probably feel like we deserve it.

freespeechforwomen · 27/03/2018 08:43

I understand and agree DeltaG. It is completely enraging.

I read that vile twitter thread with it's nasty repetitive minimising and gaslighting rant - ending up with the crass 'oh aren't I clever?' ending and suddenly understood what must have happened to the Women's Equality Party. If that's the type of contributions that are being made to their debates then it's no wonder the party is unable to represent women.

As May Angelou said "when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time...."

IrisAtwood · 27/03/2018 08:44

I have no idea why Jane gets any airtime.

Oxford graduate, male who was a broadsheet columnist and part of the media network prior to their gender transition. Lots of powerful friends in the media who are terrified of being seen as discriminatory or less than cool.

GoodyMog · 27/03/2018 09:09

Did you see the defence of it?

So when everyone accused JF of minimising DV and treating it like an accident gone too far, rather than a premeditated and deliberate act, JF actually meant that the perpetrator didn't realise the consequences. Which is a totally different thing, obviously. Hmm

DV "gone wrong"
CherryChasingDotMuncher · 27/03/2018 09:10

Jane is a vile man, this a a toxic male attitude, and people like him are the very reason women need safe spaces. Because women being murdered is usually accidental but it's fine if they're only beaten to a pulp

SusanBunch · 27/03/2018 09:36

Jane's treatment of their family shows what sort of a person they ultimately are. Basically abandoned his wife and kids in pursuit of his 'dream'. Little thought to the impact on them of his actions.

Also telling that in an article about his transition, Jane said he had lost 3 stone because (in his words), 'it's okay to be a fat middle aged bloke but it's not okay to be a fat middle aged woman'. So much misogyny. Also, in the TV interview with Amy Desir, he dominated and tried to gaslight by going on about how self-ID was actually great and that if people 'faked' being trans, they would now be sent to jail. What absolute rot. Nobody, nobody has been sent to jail for faking being trans and nobody will after self-ID comes in either. Always speaks in an overly calm, patronising tone to try to come across as the voice of reason against there hysterical 'cis-women'. It's so so annoying and I cringe every time he is on TV.
