I'm struggling for words....

What's DV done right supposed to look like?

This is part of Jane trying to argue why women don't need single sex spaces....own goal right there.

I saw someone had tagged R4 the BBC and Sky News, not sure if it was you *Badgerthebodger - nice work if so.

I've just read the articles on Jane Fae's transitioning and a bit about his background. Such an obvious and blatant sexual agenda. Honestly, I'm staggered by this - WHY is the fetish aspect so willingly overlooked? Accommodated even? I just don't get it.

HomeTerf · 27/03/2018 09:41

Cross post, Susan. My jaw hit the floor at the 'overweight middle aged woman' comment too. Fucking unbelievable, although in the context of pissing all over his family in pursuit of his sexual fantasy it kind of lost some impact, I think.

FreiasBathtub · 27/03/2018 09:41

I don't care what Jane's intent was. With the benefit of the doubt (and no knowledge of previous posting history) I would probably have assumed that the tweet was a wry comment on how society dismisses the death of two women every week, killed by current or former partners, as an unintended consequence of everyday violence against women.

The point is, that these women SHOULD NOT be used as a throwaway introduction to a further 22 self-congratulatory tweets making a facile straw man argument about fucking bathrooms. They are not a fucking rhetorical device.

Jane's intent doesn't matter. What matters is the contempt for these women, that the ongoing, unending procession of 'boring, pedestrian, accidental' deaths are a throwaway side-note to the actually-important point about God. Damn. Bathrooms. Fucking hell.

MisDescamisados · 27/03/2018 10:07

“My defence , M’lud , is that I did a wrong thing wrongly , which went wrong and accidentally became a very wrong thing indeed , but I was drunk/don’t recall/it was an accident ..”

Literally every domestic murderer ever , so here’s right there .

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 27/03/2018 11:34

It's also women's fault and specifically Gender Critical women's fault that transwomen are prostitutes and are murdered. Terfs responsible for murdered transwomen.

So, to recap: We are responsible for getting murdered by men and responsible for men murdering men

ArcheryAnnie · 27/03/2018 11:43

Holy shit. I should not be so surprised that Fae has written such misogynist, victim-blaming nonsense, but I am.

Holy shit. "One blow too many."

BlooperReel · 27/03/2018 11:59

I saw that tweet this morning, it is sickening, well done to all the tweeters copying in various news outlets etc to draw attention to this vile cretins true attitude.

SophoclesTheFox · 27/03/2018 12:46

Nobody, nobody has been sent to jail for faking being trans

Broadly true, Susan, the notable exception being Gayle Newlands, sent to jail for “pretending” to be a man to get sex. Women will “pretend” to be trans for gain (see also the exception for inheriting peerages), but males are always True and Authentic.

No sexism to see here, no sir!

53rdWay · 27/03/2018 12:46

ah I see, the perpetrator just didn’t realise! Therefore any resulting murder is an accident. They’re just randomly hitting, they don’t actually realise what they’re doing.

Is this not exactly what the abusive men say? “I wasn’t trying to HURT you, I didn’t realise, I lost my temper/wasn’t thinking/moment of madness”, etc etc.

OvaHere · 27/03/2018 12:52

The Newland case is interesting because on face value it would seem like an obvious defence tactic for her (or her lawyers) to have claimed transgender identity given that it's a protected characteristic.

The fact the didn't makes me think that they knew there was a strong chance of a custodial sentence regardless and didn't want to risk Gayle ending up in a male prison for sex offenders.

53rdWay · 27/03/2018 12:52

Oh, but so glad Jane’s put us women all right on how lethal violence isn’t the “glamorous” and “sexed-up” thing we’re all imagining in our fevered little brains.

DonkeySkin · 27/03/2018 13:23

Before John Ozimek became Jane Fae, his political activism was focused on men's 'right' to make extreme violent pornography about murdering and mutilating women.

And here he is advocating for 'consensual slavery':

hackmum · 27/03/2018 13:29

First rule of misogyny: women are responsible for men's actions.

Funny, isn't it, how it's OK to minimise the murder of women by claiming it's all down to women and their eggshell heads, but that if you referred to Jane Fae as John Ozimek, that would be "literal violence".

I don't know which makes me despair the most - their stupidity or their nastiness.

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:30

So men who murder their female partners, do so because they don't realise the consequences of their actions?

Because the poor men don't realise the "potentially fatal" consequences of their violent actions?

Even the ones who pick up a knife, stab multiple times, or bludgeon, or decapitate, etc?

Poor blokes, it's definitely true that they struggle to understand that murderously attacking a woman will result in her death, they need to be given much leeway becauase of this, also women have such thin skulls, I mean, what are they even like???

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:32

"Oh, but so glad Jane’s put us women all right on how lethal violence isn’t the “glamorous” and “sexed-up” thing we’re all imagining in our fevered little brains."

Also, this.

It's a very male perspective isn't it, consuming all the glossy images of women being raped and murdered. Most women I know have noticed that the way these dramas present violent espcially sexually violent crime against women as titllating.

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:34

"Unless you happen to have been living on Mars for the last year or so, you probably know that this week (January 26 to be precise) it will become a criminal offence (in England and Wales) to possess pictures that the government deems to be "extreme porn". You might also be aware of two diametrically opposed views on this legislation."

??

No? I doubt my mum did either, or my dad for that matter. Or my children.

Who will have been keeping such a close eye on the progression of this legislation and when it came into force? One group springs to mind.

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:36

"Limbering up for a divorce by looking at internet porn sites may provide a degree of self-gratification: but if the end result is going to be a bitter battle over money, maintenance and kids, be very careful."

This person is TOTALLY a woman. This is exactly what women do when divorce is on the horizon.

Fucking hell.

Catspaws · 27/03/2018 13:37

She's using "quotes" to indicate that she doesn't hold that view herself, but is referring to the excuses and justifications men use. It is so blindingly obvious that she is doing this that I can only assume you've deliberately ignored it because it's more fun to whip up controversy on mumsnet than to actually thoughtfully engage on a subject.

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:37

I didn't realise this was an MRA. I don't really know who they are TBH although have heard the name.

Many of the high profile TRAs seem to be MRAs.

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:41

Where is that quote from, then?

Jane's head, is where.

53rdWay · 27/03/2018 13:42

I’m thoughtfully engaging, Catspaws. I’m particularly thoughtfully engaging with the idea that DV deaths are “accidental” - that is, not intended by their perpetrators - and the idea that us silly women need putting right about how lethal violence is not as glamorous or sexy as it looks on TV.

To be fair, though, I have a lot less expertise in extreme porn than Jane does. My only direct experience here is remembering the look in my boyfriend’s eyes when he had his hand round my throat.

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:42

And the stuff in articles they have written, or do they not represent this person's views either?

Were YOU well aware of and highly anticpatory of the changes to the law over extreme porn?

If YOU were getting a divorce, would you "limber up" for it by viewing material that breaches these rules:
"The pic must be pornographic, or produced for sexual purposes. It must be realistic. It must contain certain specific imagery, including necrophilia, bestiality, activity depicting serious harm to breast, anus or genitals or life-threatening activity. Finally, it must be grossly offensive, as determined either by a jury or magistrate."

?

ArcheryAnnie · 27/03/2018 13:45

She's using "quotes" to indicate that she doesn't hold that view herself

Yeah, sure. Look at Fae's history, Catspaw.

Oh, and I don't experience witnessing the endless parade of woman-hating, vicitim-blaming misogyny from people like Fae as "fun". Hope that helps.

SardineQueen · 27/03/2018 13:48

Just went and read the whole thread. What a weird load of bollocks.

Zero understanding of the female experience in there, should that be a surprise, coming as it does from a woman...?

Note reference to MN. Hello there.

53rdWay · 27/03/2018 13:54

aye Sardine. And not only zero understanding of what women experience, but zero care that women actually DO experience what we say we’re experiencing. Our fears and our concerns are not real, not deeply held, not legitimate. They’re trivial at best and a front for something nefarious at worst.

Same with Catspaw here - we’re not really horrified and repulsed by this, we’re just pretending to be so that we can get our kicks being mean to trans people.

Basic misogyny: women don’t have inner lives.
