So I am on this published blocklist. In good company with Julie Bindell et al, but still, I'm so angry. I've never tweeted Lily, so it is a mystery. I follow women's place and a lot of Rad fems, so it must be that? Anyone else on it? What should we do? I am totally shocked that this can be sanctioned by the party. That's my vote lost forever. Hell will freeze over before I vote Labour again.

Also are representatives of the public allowed to ask for cash donations? At what level do they need to be declared?

Lily's is not a paid position afaik but instead is a voluntary one, so the rules may be different than for someone receiving money from the public purse.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 21/03/2018 00:34

Thanks TEQ. It still seems such dodgy ground.

KittyMcKitty · 21/03/2018 06:37

LM has changed their bio - someone obviously “had a word” - it now says they are an elected women’s officer - does that imply this is now a business account not personal?

Personal data is information relating to an identifiable living individual. Whenever personal data is processed, collected, recorded, stored or disposed of it must be done within the terms of the Data Protection Act (DPA).
(DPA, is relevant UK wide)
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the regulator for the Data Protection Act. Under the Act, where you feel your personal data has been misused, you can complain to ICO to investigate and they have powers under the Act to deal with personal data breaches.

ico.org.uk/concerns/handling/

Note you usually have a three month window to complain to ICO from your last contact with an organisation that you want them to investigate.
So say I complained to the Labour Party about them allowing someone in a voluntary role to misuse my personal data, it looks like I would have three months from my last contact with Labour Party on that topic, to ask ICO to look into that.
Individuals breaching DPA can also be reported to ICO.

ICO have a phone helpline for the public who have concerns about how their personal data has been used or you can email: ico.org.uk/global/contact-us/helpline/

There are also seven standards applicable in public life ‘the Nolan Principles’ which are mandatory to sign up to for those holding elected office like MPs. Or paid job roles from public funds like government employees, civil servants or government advisors. Intended to avoid corruption and abuse of position etc.

These standards say if an elected official behaves in an abusive way, begs or takes gifts for their own personal profit in the role etc this behaviour is not compatible with the expected standards in public life. There’s a whole section on being truthful too.

Even if you are a local political party elected volunteer, while you might not have to sign up to these Nolan principles before you can carry out your voluntary work, morally you are unfit to your elected (voluntary) role if you do not abide by them. Especially if you aspire to a future career Shock in Parliamentary politics.

LM has changed their bio

I also notice that Lily is using 'not cis'. Tsk, tsk Lil. Rookie error

SuburbanRhonda · 21/03/2018 07:11

“Not cis”

Me neither, mate. Stupid, meaningless term, isn’t it?

ChattyLion · 21/03/2018 07:16

Finally, the final principle of Nolan says:

Leadership
Holders of public office should exhibit these principles in their own behaviour. They should actively promote and robustly support the principles and be willing to challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs.’

Notice lily has updated her twitter to state she is gay and autistic. Hmmmmm

And tweeting, 'as a disabled person...'

This isn’t the first time they’ve made a list of women’s info, is it? What’s my it LM who was instrumental in making the “TERF” list?

LizzieSiddal · 21/03/2018 07:34

So they’ve moved the highly offensive term “Schizo” from their bio?

That didn’t last long did it? Maybe LM has identified another disability this morning.Hmm

AreYouTerfEnough · 21/03/2018 07:34

Interesting info ChattyLion

LifelongVaginaOwner · 21/03/2018 07:36

"Gals gay. Get over it". Hahahahaha. Gal's not a gal and gal's not gay. Twat.

I thought I was truly down that rabbit hole when I saw someone on Twitter describe themselves as a transwoman and a lesbian and then mention that they like 'ladydick'.

Yea, I'm pretty sure a biological male who likes dick isn't a lesbian.

Pratchet · 21/03/2018 07:40

It used to be a joke that heterosexual white men would be driven, by a backlash against feminism, to pretend to be gay disabled women.

Absolutely agree with XXFactor posted upthread:
’It would be totally inconsistent for Labour to let Lily tweet whatever Lily wants, while disciplining women like DrRadFem for expressing opinions on their own personal accounts.’

Ifonlyus · 21/03/2018 08:15

Lifelongvaginaowner Well I've complained. I don't think it's appropriate for a representative of the Labour Party to publicly label over 2000 Twitter users as people who make the platform unsafe for trans people. Using a block list is one thing, tweeting it out to followers with what is essentially an unfounded allegation against ever user on the list is another.

This is where I see the issue also.

LM has changed their bio - someone obviously “had a word” - it now says they are an elected women’s officer - does that imply this is now a business account not personal? KittyMckitty

It doesn't even say they are the local CLP Women's Officer like all the other CLP Women's Officers (who are women) do on their (professionally conducted) Twitter feed.

Talk about delusions of grandeur. Such obvious narcissistic behaviour. They're getting more outrageous in their deceit and lies they tell about themself. They must be going to implode soon.

KittyMcKitty · 21/03/2018 08:21

They also used to have something in their bio along the lines of “not all tweets necessarily by me” but this has now been removed so it’s fair to assume that everything is posted by LM and is 100% representative of their views.

My observations are based on 30 years of being around autistic people and support groups etc.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 21/03/2018 08:26

Lily apologising profusely after using the word 'triggered' flippantly...

Can you delete threads from your own timeline? Could other people have mentioned the schizo thing and Lily has deleted them?

I hope Labour party will take some responsibility for a) Lily's immature and inappropriate behaviour and b) delicate mental health. Lily very desperately needs help. Who takes that many twitter breaks?!
