Lily Madigan Blocklist

So I am on this published blocklist. In good company with Julie Bindell et al, but still, I'm so angry. I've never tweeted Lily, so it is a mystery. I follow women's place and a lot of Rad fems, so it must be that? Anyone else on it? What should we do? I am totally shocked that this can be sanctioned by the party. That's my vote lost forever. Hell will freeze over before I vote Labour again.

Does anyone know if Twitter is breaching DPA rules by allowing the data of users to be gathered and shared in this way on its platform?

ThatEscalatedQuickly · 21/03/2018 08:35

Can you delete threads from your own timeline? Could other people have mentioned the schizo thing and Lily has deleted them?

I don't think so. You can block people but their tweets still show to others even though you no longer see them. There was one tweet last night about the use of the term which Lily might have seen.

They are discussing Labour Wos now on Radio 4

KittyMcKitty · 21/03/2018 08:42

I pondered over the response to using triggered yesterday and, reading LM inititial response to being pulled up on it they seem to totally fail to understand that words do have meanings and those meanings are important. Their behaviour is entirely consistent with someone who would make rape jokes / put savilles apprentice in their bio (despite them blaming this on their brother).

LM shows little ability for critical thinking with their blatant misuse / disgregard fir language in the one hand whilst in the other bemoaning the literal violence of misgendering. The TRA incorrect (and deliberate) misuse of literal is a major bone of contention with me especially given their denials when they literally do use violence against women as at Speakers Corner.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/03/2018 08:43

I know it's been discussed, but I'm still totally confused wrt the gay thing.

So Lily has just 'come out' as gay.

Is this gay in the context of 'being a woman' - so a lesbian?

So is Lily announcing that they're actually straight?

And everyone is cheering Lily for being So Brave! for announcing they're straight.

It's all too much 🙄😩

Ereshkigal · 21/03/2018 08:44

Yes that's exactly it Faith.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 21/03/2018 08:44

Listening to Radio 4. I am so in love with Lucy Masoud

TheVastMajority · 21/03/2018 08:52

When I read that Lily was gay, my immediate thought was she she got her leg over and this was her way of announcing it to the world - hey, I had sex last night. With a girl. (WHich is a real 16yo boy thing to do). It also validates her woman status is she had sex with a lesbian - in a "hey how cool and girlie am I that I have a lesbian lover, therefore I must pass as a girl, ergo I am gay".

And then all that adoring fangirl attention validating the experience.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 21/03/2018 08:53

He should be tweeting amongst peer group and learning appropriate behaviour.

Autism is not the main problem - he's not a very nice person and not getting appropriate adult guidance - since he was a kid no doubt.

I think it can only be an intentional attack on left party women - I don't see any other reason - Corbyn etc are laughing up their sleeves.

Draw people into a fight - that makes people (not in the know) switch off - make left women them look like loons for attacking clearly vulnerable person - meanwhile whilst misdirection in clear play - make hay/get away with murder.

I really think blocking the twerp should be a mass decision - take away his oxygen.

InspiredByIntegrity · 21/03/2018 08:54

Why it is the business of the Labour Party - national guidance
www.wokinglabour.org/files/Labour-Social-Media-Policy.pdf.

Quite a few phrases where I would suggest the line has been crossed:
"Debates amongst party members should be comradely, acknowledging that whatever our diverse views, we are one
party with shared goals. Derogatory descriptions of the positions of others should be avoided."
"...nor is the publishing of others’ private information without their explicit permission."

SirVixofVixHall · 21/03/2018 09:21

Well I am still in a rage about this today. I wonder how quickly I will get a response from the Labour party? Am mulling over legal advice.
Surely it is defamation for a start, to state that we make this public forum unsafe for other users? I haven't seen any of Lily's tweets on this, (obviously!), so I don't know what the justification of the list is, is that what was said?
The main reason for me being on the list would appear to be who I follow, so is Lily trying to make women frightened to follow gender critical feminists, or organisations like Women's place? There are many highly respected people on the list, there are leading feminists, politicians. It is astonishing, really. Anyone else had any thoughts about how we proceed on this?

Is there an email address for complaints to the labour party? My full name is on the list, along with my email address (it just needs the @provider.com). I have a very unusual Irish name and I'm the only person with my combination of names in the UK and I'm very very pissed off. I work in higher education. I have never tweeted anything transphobic.

KochabRising · 21/03/2018 09:29

Surely it’s defamation, with a side order of threat?

ChattyLion · 21/03/2018 09:41

Inspired that’s very interesting re Labour guidance.
So given all this, WTF are Labour actually doing about volunteers who abuse their position...?
Er, except for grilling Labour member women about their gender-critical non-violent political objections/views as expressed on Twitter? Which all makes it look like Labour are quite happy with this type of nonsense which has been going on for months unchallenged. Publishing shitlists etc. Pathetic.

BTW when i agreed with XXFactor as posted upthread:
’It would be totally inconsistent for Labour to let Lily tweet whatever Lily wants, while disciplining women like DrRadFem for expressing opinions on their own personal accounts.’

My agreement is that Labour’s actions have zero internal logic. I don’t think that anyone on here agrees with Labour going around disciplining women for saying that women are women and transwomen are transwomen.

Ihavesomeballs · 21/03/2018 09:57

We all need to email Labour Party to complain. And report tweet to twitter.

sashh · 21/03/2018 09:59

We should all also tweet to labour

AreYouTerfEnough · 21/03/2018 10:02

Has this person actually been diagnosed as autistic? They can’t just go around claiming to be disabled.

TerfsUp · 21/03/2018 10:15

Madigan's description of h**self being autistic gives me the rage. I have long argued against self-diagnosis (I am autistic and went through all of the hoops for assessment and diagnosis) for just this reason.

And, please, stop with the crap about If they are autistic they may be operating emotionally at 2/3 chronological age. That is complete and utter shite. It is hugely offensive to those of us on the spectrum.

I've said it before but it's worth repeating "I don't 'suffer' from autism; I suffer from the stupidity of other people".

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 21/03/2018 10:15

Is Lucy on R4? I love Lucy. She's so...solid. I can imagine she's a fantastic firefighter. She'd come rescue you.

GalwayGalery · 21/03/2018 10:28

Thank you sashh, I'll email in my lunch break. Some of my students follow Lily on twitter, I know this because I've heard them taking the piss. Higher education is a strange place if you're gender critical and it just takes one student to complain...

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 21/03/2018 10:59

I certainly don't suffer from autism either and don't describe as a disability. If someone isn't very bright or has other conditions with it eg. learning difficulties or ADHD - can certainly be a disability - but I prefer to focus on the benefits the differences can bring.

LIly is clearly emotionally young and not terribly bright. Autistic people do not have instinctive social behaviour and it is learned - hence often slower to mask it in the not so bright and reaching that developmental milestone later.

You may be a very rare case of autism that didn't have a spikey developmental profile.

Yes I'm diagnosed -(20 odd years ago) as are all my children - it is very, very common and we do just fine.

One autistic person is just that and different from all other autistic people - each developmental profile and individual personality - there are certain traits very easy to spot in the not so bright as they didn't learn to mask them.

Having helped at lots of autistic groups and seen those children grow up, there is a definite emotional immaturity compared to peers - it may manifest as anxiety or depression - and they mask it - but they are processing more than their peer group. They generally get through it with right support. disclaimer: I am not talking about you - I am talking about those with autism that have completely different developmental profile to you.

But this is a bit of a boring derail - Lily is an immature idiot that needs to stop being given a platform.

Battleax · 21/03/2018 11:24
