I've subscribed.

LaContessaDiPlump · 03/02/2018 09:48

That is a fantastic article - very well done Janice!

Dozer · 03/02/2018 09:51

If only the Times was as good on womens issues more generally.

Somerville · 03/02/2018 09:55

Incredibly well written article, expressing the reality of the issue despite its complexity.

I'm already subscribed to the Times, but must remember to email to tell them why I continue to pay for it.

This is great. She’s done a really good job here of explaining exactly why none of it makes sense. Im living in hope that the rest of the MSM is going to catch up.

ChattyLion · 03/02/2018 10:06

Janice Turner is so brilliant. She’s been writing prochoice stuff in the Times for years and now she is sticking her neck out on this issue. Star what an excellent article.

Popchyk · 03/02/2018 10:11

Brilliantly done.

Stated all of the issues really well.

I think it is worth mentioning that lots of people on mumsnet and people in the Labour party have helped to force this issue right into the light. Into the mainstream media which is exactly where it needs to be.

Well done to everyone. And to Janice Turner of course.

MacaroonMama · 03/02/2018 10:20

Fab. That last line is a bit of an 'I'm Spartacus' moment. She is very brave.

whitehandledkitchenknife · 03/02/2018 10:22

Brava.Star Brava.Star BravaStar.

What a magnificent piece of writing to get up to on a Saturday morning. Is there a way of making the transcript of the article a sticky note somewhere so that it's clarity is not lost in the tunnels of threads?
I too had a Datun/Janice Turner in the same room thought as I read it.
I'm off to get a hard copy for posterity.

Excellent article

shehimthey · 03/02/2018 10:24

Brilliant article. Am going to show it to my 14 yr old DS who just had an RME lesson where a teacher delivered the gems of ‘there can be a male vagina and a female penis’. His class dissolved into laughter at this and fortunately my DS has had enough conversations with me on this subject to see it for what it was. I’m in Scotland and had warned him he might be hearing such things. Janice needs to go on something like Loose Women to put this cool, measured thinking right out there into the mainstream.

OldBlueStitches · 03/02/2018 10:24

Absolutely excellent article. Almost going to subscribe based on that alone.

I want to share that article with friends.

Reading that article has really cheered me up: spot on with the religious dogma and so well written. Great integrity too. And courage. Thank you.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/02/2018 10:35

I still don't believe in fairies, no matter how dramatically they weep about my lack of belief literally killing them.

Lottapianos · 03/02/2018 10:37

'Janice needs to go on something like Loose Women to put this cool, measured thinking right out there into the mainstream.'

Great idea. Get the message out there to a much wider audience who would never pick up the Times

AngryAttackKittens · 03/02/2018 10:38

Has anyone seen Turner speak publicly, and does she come across as well as she does in print?

LangCleg · 03/02/2018 10:41

Fab. That last line is a bit of an 'I'm Spartacus' moment. She is very brave.

It so is! I wish A Woman's Place would invite Janice to speak at one of their events.

ICJump · 03/02/2018 10:46

Atalittlebitofbutter nice observersation on the baby wearing front. I’ve stepped away from it because it’s just full of SJW banging on about not triggering anyone.

frogsoup · 03/02/2018 10:47

This is awesome. Just deciding whether I am brave enough to face the shitstorm by sharing on Facebook...my friends are at least 30% social justice warriors for whom this stuff is absolutely dogma. I also have one trans friend and don't want this to be the end of a friendship.

LongCoat · 03/02/2018 10:51

AR didn't do her job and it now looks like LP is being lined up as the new leader once JC goes.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 03/02/2018 10:55

Thank you, cunningoperative and bambambini for sharing the article.

Bravo, Janice Turner. Excellent article. The comments are rubbish but, in the long run, it's the article that counts.

I am seriously thinking of becoming a Times subscriber and more articles like this will help me to decide to do so. The Guardian and The Observer, on the other hand, cannot die a painful flaming financial death soon enough.

ChattyLion · 03/02/2018 10:55

LOL Kittens
Even as a kid I always found that Peter Pan emotional blackmail really creepy!
