LadyCassandra the Australian equivalent is Essential Kids, but they’re not massively developed on the trans questioning front yet. Gender critical people from EK tend to wash up here as lurkers.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/02/2018 02:40

She deserves an award for her service to womankind over the past few months.

Anlaf · 03/02/2018 06:15

I think you need to have an apple device to do sharetokens. Anyway, off to read Janice now!

FurryGiraffe · 03/02/2018 06:30

Oh, thank you Janice Turner. Superb stuff.

CapnHaddock · 03/02/2018 06:33

Brilliant Janice. Thank you

Tanaqui · 03/02/2018 06:37

She has been consistently good on this topic- and is one of the reasons I often buy a paper copy of The Times. I wish it was easier to share!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 03/02/2018 07:12

Brilliant article - really gets to the heart of it.

Gruach · 03/02/2018 07:25

Excellent.

(Now that the Guardian online is unreadable I too am re-assessing my default news source. Would have liked to see this article in the FT.)

SusanBunch · 03/02/2018 07:36

Excellent article

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 03/02/2018 07:38

Wonderful article which she will be abused for. takes courage to stand up for women and girls, Janice, we salute you! Flowers

seXXyLady · 03/02/2018 07:39

Is Tarzan actually a gorilla then? He was actually raised as one and lived as one all his life. He is more a gorilla than these men are women.

DearSergio · 03/02/2018 07:41

Fantastic article, my dad - who is an old school lefty, called me a bigot some months back for my gender critical views - has a Times subscription. I hope he reads this because it's everything I wanted to say but wasn't eloquent enough to achieve. Thankyou Janice!

Patodp · 03/02/2018 07:42

It's a perfect term for the ideology, because everything about it reflects religious extremism. The repeated use of non-factual mantras and a requirement for blind faith to believe in it all, the conservatism, the misogyny - I can't think of any religion that is not deeply misogynistic, the way followers cry "heresy" and "Blasphemy" at non-believers and the extreme tactics used to shut them down. ..
The religion of the self, the cult of the personality, is taking over.

I notice she doesn't mention LM. I assume deliberately.

Great stuff. The Times is really on the market with this one and I'll def pay the £1 a month for 3.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 03/02/2018 07:43

Janice Turner is the reason I subscribe to the Times.

Patodp · 03/02/2018 07:43

Market - mark.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/02/2018 07:51

I think I may have to get a subscription to The Times. That's a really good article.

ICJump · 03/02/2018 07:51

LadyCassandra I’m an Aussie too. I think the situation is probably a bit worse as gender is already protected under the federal sex discrimination act. I’m not sure if it’s been challenged yet as a competing right.

ICJump · 03/02/2018 07:56

Sorry LadyCassandra it’s state based rather than federal www.humanrights.gov.au/publications/section-8-protection-discrimination-basis-sex-andor-gender-identity-addressing-sexual

boatyardblues · 03/02/2018 07:57

Quick question: has anyone ever seen Datun and Janice in the same room? I’m starting to wonder if they are one and the same. Wink

Ereshkigal · 03/02/2018 07:59

Such a great article!

Alwaysinmyheart · 03/02/2018 08:03

What a clear and well argued article, thank you Janice! I like how she also makes the point that the genuine Trans women are equally as horrified at this as the rest of us.

Thanks for posting this OP, really appreciate it.

brizzledrizzle · 03/02/2018 08:03

The article to end all articles.

gassylady · 03/02/2018 08:08

Just brilliantly written and makes the points so clearly

athingthateveryoneneeds · 03/02/2018 08:10

I was literally cheering and punching the air reading that. Yessssss.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/02/2018 08:11

Nails it.
