The self-id stuff is Tory legislation!

borntobequiet · 30/03/2018 19:46

But wouldn't go near the GP ever. At least LDs don't call me a non man.

MsMcWoodle · 30/03/2018 21:23

Hi @Justabunchofcunts
Your name sums up the Green Party from my experience. Here's a link to my thread on the subject:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3198432-Update-on-interactions-with-the-Green-Party-on-self-id

HakunaDentata · 31/03/2018 00:41

Thanks for the link hipster - there's a whiff of fascism to their policies...I don't think they would listen to anyone tbh, there seems to be a woke infestation in all main parties.

And this policy here is very confusing:
RR507 The Green Party also supports an end to the ban on civil partnerships being conducted in places of worship and the ban on same-sex marriages being conducted in Anglican churches, whilst recognising it is up to religious bodies to make this decision and not for the state to dictate to them prohibitions on civil partnerships and/or marriage.

They will end the ban but it's up to churches to decide? So which is it?

Are you all aware of this?

In short Aimee (Green Equalities Spokesperson) is the admin behind @BlockTerfs on Twitter which now blocks nearly 30,000 users (mainly women) from speaking out on Trans issues/self Id.

Yes that's 30,000 accounts silenced.

Hardly equality is it?

Also - I wasn't aware of this:

Gosh that's horrendous. The idea that block lists keep people safe online is deranged. Women get blocked simple for asking questions, it seems. We aren't a threat. It is totally alien to me that you can be in politics and blocking people because of simply wanting to shut down debate.

DrudgeJedd · 31/03/2018 13:45

There's a ppc from the Greens speaking at the Newcastle WPUK event. I'm going along to hear what they have to say

newtlover · 31/03/2018 13:52

I'm not au fait with twitter
does this block list mean the blocked people cannot use twitter at all? or is it just that (certain) people can choose not to see tweets from those on the list?

MsMcWoodle · 31/03/2018 15:02

@newtlover - the block list just blocks your access to the person who uses it - so they can stay in their bubble
However...
They are increasingly getting people banned from twitter altogether:

Some suggestion that Aimee Challoner is no longer Green Party LGBTQIA+ spokesperson...

There's a huge internal debate going on in the Green Party right now about women's issues. Don't lose faith - please get in touch if you are a member (former, current or future) who wants to be involved.

teawamutu · 11/01/2019 19:51

There's no faith left to lose, Chris.

If they demonstrate they've figured out what a woman is and stop chasing woke points via TRAs I might be listening again though...

DrHeidi · 11/01/2019 20:00

Oh Chris, are you serious? Posters on here have seen many parties disregard women's concerns. Are they going to get an apology? Acknowledgment of mistakes made? Actions, words, you know the saying ...

OhHolyJesus · 11/01/2019 21:00

@GreenChris I left the GP because of Aimee and her father. I'm politically homeless because of what they did. We know what they did and we know who knew. We know how they shit down criticism because they built tech to do so. We know women have been thrown under a bus. David C's victim has years of therapy and pain ahead, whilst the planet crumbles...

If there was a gender critical Green Party start up Party I would sign up in a heartbeat.

I work hard every day to do what I can to reduce the harm me and my family cause to this planet and the GP have been navel gazing and elevating a naive, young transwoman beyond her capabilities and judgement because it suited them to have a 'woke' representative. Shame on you. I trusted you. I'm furious and I'm going to need some damn good convincing to return.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 11/01/2019 21:05

ex Green Party member here. I left because I was concerned about unchecked misogynist rhetoric in party policy. But now I know that the party employed somebody accused of raping and torturing a little girl, allowed the perpetrator to continue to influence policy wrt issues related to safeguarding, apparently didn't even realise that this was a safeguarding issue until forced to it by a public outcry, and still shows no understanding whatsoever of the seriousness of its failures, I can more easily imagine joining the Presidents Club than rejoining the greens.

AdultHumanFemale · 11/01/2019 21:16

I'm seriously considering the Green Party (having left the LP last year) on the strength of the clear, public GC voices of party activists my area.
If they can be so 'out', there must be a debate in the party.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 11/01/2019 21:30

Greenchris .. I work in the sector and I'm sorry, but Challenor knew NOTHING about Green politics (I'll warrant my 6 year old has a better grasp of some of the key issues)

Even leaving aside everything else (I know, large ask), the Green Party alienated green voters by prioritising identity politics over what should be their core issue (Deputy Leader??????!)

There are some outstanding young minds in green policy. If the objective was to appeal to the youth vote then there were plenty of really deserving, exceptionally bright young things. That really was a kick in the teeth for anyone who voted for them because, whilst some of their policies are a bit mad, and fluffy, their heart was in the right place and wow, Caroline Lucas (not anymore 😢)

indieshuffle · 11/01/2019 21:59

I'm pretty damn green lifestyle-wise but I'd never join a party that has no concept of safeguarding or psychology or biology and who still, after all this, needs to debate who a woman is.

I'm sure some members are good eggs but they are far outweighed by the seriously deficient, and working for change from the inside is sometimes a lost cause.

Plus I think some of your policies and economics are highly questionable and suffer from being based on a fundamental misunderstanding of people and I'm no right winger. The same wokeness that promotes narcissists and sociopaths will have serious consequences, and they in particular wont give a shit about saving the planet or humanity. .

If the party has a massive evolution though you might get my vote.

R0wantrees · 11/01/2019 22:06

I looked for that LibDemLGBT+ tweet supporting their friend Aimee Chellenor. Smile

Popchyk · 11/01/2019 22:17

GreenChris, in future only allow those members who have demonstrated commitment and actual hard bloody work on environmental issues to be elected to positions of responsibility within the party.

AC cared not one whit about the environment and spent their entire Green career hounding women and trying to silence anyone who tried to talk about the issues that transgenderism causes for women. The Green party actively assisted AC in this.

The Greens are very vulnerable to entryism as the Challenor episode demonstrates. Certain of the Green members (and the LGBT wing is particularly awful in this regard) never actually talk about environmental issues at all, far less get out there and DO anything. It is all denuciations of TERFs, McCarthyist witch hunts on Twitter, and working together to co-ordinate complaints to force out other members who demonstrate wrongthink in their eyes.

That's what these people think green activism actually is. And the party leaders are too cowed and too cowardly to act.

Action, not words.
