Women in leadership making room for transwomen (because you know how many women are in leadership roles)
BUS accepting transwomen to compete as women in sports

It sounds like a very controlling movement.

It's quite sad really. In a group I am on in fb, that has over five thousand members all transwomen are banned now and it's a secret group. This is because of all the controlling behaviour from the trans movement. Our condition affects those born male and female differently. I have seen in another group a transwoman state she was refused HRT due to the female hormones making symptoms worse. people in the movement decided to spend a month controlling conversation. Nobody was allowed to speak about breastfeeding or having breast scans etc, this was trans phobic apparently. Nobody was allowed to speak of pregnancy, miscarriage, birth, periods, prolapse etc as this was trans phobic. It was so upsetting watching it on fb. In the end they removed those in the controlling trans movement and made the group secret. No problems since. I think they targeted the group as it said women only. The other large groups for the condition don't have women only in the title and the transwomen in those groups are not controlling speech.

That experience followed by the Tara Hudson case were my wakeup call.

You will be deleted on MN if you refer to Anna as he. Misgendering is against the rules. All the "bloke in a dress" comments will be gone too.

Apparently we are not allowed to state facts here. Biology is so hurtful isn't it?

QueenLaBeefah · 19/02/2016 22:15

Delete away. Don't care anymore. He is not a woman and no amount of badly fitted dresses is going to change the fact.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 19/02/2016 22:26

If Anna were to enter a changing room that I was in I would feel uncomfortable in the least threatened at worse

But that is to be ignored

Anna's feelings are more important

Because Anna has, always has had and will always carry male privilege this is what it boils down to

Let's stop pretending that the transwomen movement is about wanting to be accepted as women they want to change what being a woman is about and that is their agenda it has fuck all to do with real yes real that is female born women

I shall no longer refer to transwomen as she I shall use their chosen name but i do not see them as women she so not sure why I have gone along with the pretence it's not for my benefit or for other women's benefit at all but being a women I have been conditions to be nice and accepting

Fangs4themammaries · 19/02/2016 22:32

RE Tara Hudson et al there seem to be a lot in prison - perhaps they could have their own transwomens prison eventually.

WilLiAmHerschel · 19/02/2016 22:42

i doubt the transactivists would want their own prison as that would involve accepting that they are not the same as a women.

WilLiAmHerschel · 19/02/2016 22:43

As women, not a women!

CallaLilli · 19/02/2016 22:43

I'm sorry but Anna is about as much a woman as Alex "I'm expanding the bandwidth of womanhood by keeping my beard" Drummond. How can anyone look at these two and think "yep, they're women"? The Emperor is stark bollock naked!

WilLiAmHerschel · 19/02/2016 22:54

Beardy Drummond particularly annoyed me because I've known real women get ridiculed for having facial hair yet people praised Alex for his 'bravery'!

I also feel sad for the transsexuals who don't claim to be the same as women (or men) and just want to get on with their lives, as they probably can't help getting caught up in this stuff.

QueenLaBeefah · 19/02/2016 22:59

Drummond's an attention seeking arsehole.

Cellardoor1 · 19/02/2016 23:07

fangs they will claim the word "woman" soon enough.

My 4 year old asked why was that man wearing a dress when she came over when I was reading the link. My DD must be transphobicHmm Even a child can see that she is a man but we aren't allowed to mention it.

Fangs4themammaries · 19/02/2016 23:16

Cellardoor1 they may claim the name 'woman' but mustn't be allowed to have it. 'Transactivist' perhaps?

HeadJudgeLen · 19/02/2016 23:17

I have had enough of it all. Children as young as 3 being considered as transgender because they don't fit the gender conforming bollocks. All this CIS crap. I am happy for anyone to live their life as they see fit, wear what they want, do what they want, be called what they want. The situation has gone mad however. Is it a reaction against the relative success of the feminist movement?

thenightsky · 19/02/2016 23:19

Just looked at 'Anna's' FB page. surprising number of actual women supporting this person!

Have any MNers off this thread posted? I'm so tempted but scared.

Fangs4themammaries · 19/02/2016 23:21

Some kind of Trojan horse attack on feminism.

WindyMillersProbationOfficer · 19/02/2016 23:25

Trojan horse attack on feminism is a perfect description. They're MRAs and misogynists, and for some reason the vast majority of self-proclaimed feminists seem to lose sight of this completely when said MRAs and misogynists apply a bit of eyeliner and stick 'she/her' in their Twitter bio. They're about as much women and/or feminists as I am a moomin.

Room101isWhereIUsedToLive · 19/02/2016 23:32

I am current member of the NUS (useless as it is, no topshop, I don't want your discount, as I buy my clothes in charity shops, for the most part).
Much to my chagrin, I have no idea how the voting works. (Have just had a quick browse on the NUS site, still clueless).
Can anyone tell me how I go about voting against this ridiculous proposition?

LilacSpunkMonkey · 19/02/2016 23:36

As always, it's trans women kicking up a huge stink, trampling over women's hard fought for and hard earned rights, proving, once again, that their male privilege is still running rampant.

We don't seem to see any of this with trans men, do we? No, because they've been socialised as women before becoming men so don't have the male privilege that makes them start trying to shit all over the group they identify with.

Sick of all of this. Utterly sick of it. Sick of conversation and debate being shut down, even here, on MN, which is, supposedly, a safe place for women.

zen1 · 19/02/2016 23:40

An absolute bloody joke.

Northernlurker · 19/02/2016 23:47

I believe it's the delegates at conference who vote for the officers.

20 years ago when I was involved in university womens campaigning we had to put up with all the 'why isn't there a mens officer' 'A man could be Womens Officer' 'Abortion isn't just a womens' issue' blah blah blah. It was bollocks then and it's bollocks now and this is exactly why women only spaces are essential.

Anna doesn't speak for me or my daughters. I sincerely hope the students of today will recognise what womens' liberation is actually about. It's NOT about Anna.

Room101isWhereIUsedToLive · 19/02/2016 23:50

Right, how do I go about finding my delegate?

cookiefiend · 20/02/2016 00:02

Room101- I think (it used to be) that delegates from each university (elected members of students union/ association) go to NUS conference and vote- so not all members of NUS, though that may have changed now that electronic voting is possibke. NUS was always dodgy with these things though. I googled myself at one point and discovered my flatmate and I had apparently attended conference and voted though we had not- just used to get numbers to elect whoever they wanted in.

NUS have for years allowed people to self identify- it is so focused on not offending anyone it tues itself in knots. Once word came down that in all NUS affiliated events etc we must stop "brain storming" as it was offensive to epileptics. After a few weeks of this we were to go back to it as those who were epileptic found it offensive that people would think they found the phrase offensive.

Whilst I share many of the concerns above, I cannot bring myself to take NUS seriously enough to worry overly in this case!

cookiefiend · 20/02/2016 00:12

Sorry- took so long to reply to room101 that someone had already answered!

HairyLittleCarrot · 20/02/2016 00:37

Is it just me, or do other people have to do a kind of mathematical contortion to work out what is being said sometimes?
"Queer, trans, disabled lesbian woman"
Right...so woman.
No wait, trans.....woman. so man.
Hang on, Queer .......trans woman. Ok still man.
Queer trans lesbian woman? Ha, nearly got me there. Still man. I see what you did there though.
so Queer trans lesbian woman = straight male.
did it!
The only thing I didn't need to decode was disabled.
