Women 'Take Up Space' - Post something you're good at without putting yourself down.

I saw this on twitter recently: you tweet something you're damn good at, without apologising or getting into false modesty.

I was feeling a bit down today reading all the threads about how feminism is too this or too that, too academic or too humourless or not good enough at explaining itself - and I thought maybe it'd be good to have a more positive thread.

Rules: if you post a non-serious 'I'm so good at eating my bodyweight in stale Easter Eggs/procrastinating on MN' type thing, this counts as false modesty and you need to post something else too!

I'll start - I'm a really good teacher.

I'm good at scrabble.
I'm good at crochet.
I'm good at word searches. I can spot the word in seconds. I'm also good at those logic puzzles where you have to figure out who was where, at what time on what day type things. With the tick box grids?
I'm good at picking new things up quickly.

It took me ages to think of things, and it was difficult not to add but.... On the end if everything. In contrast I asked dd what she was good at and she immediately answered that she's good at reading, she's good at minecraft, she's good spelling, she's good at helping others, she's good at trying new things, she then added the very best thing she is good at is loving me, and because I'm good at loving her, she loves herself. Made me fill up.

I am really good at my job.
I am neat and organised.
I am good at DIY.
I've got a no 8 wire mentality.
I've got style. My own style.
I'm a good cook and hostess.
I've got really beautiful handwriting.
I'm really good in crisis situation. As in life and death.
I make a very very good cup of coffee and I can listen. I also serve brownies with the above. I fix people.
I'm a role model for my DD. I am a very good mother.
I'm a leader.
I like my weaknesses.

I've got a good brain.

I express myself well.

My kids love my pancakes.

Generally, people like me.

I'm rational (not MRA pseudo-rationality used to justify oneself, but true rationality). I am logical.
I am fan-fucking-tastic at realising what examiners want and giving it to them in easy to read handwriting- I even got a congratulatory letter from the exam board for my mark in one GCSE course once.
I have a wonderful memory.
I can read really, really fast.
I find flatpack furniture a breeze to put up.

I am extremely articulate

I can see through bullshit and obfuscation to the heart of a matter

I can assess a situation and act quickly and effectively

These skills I use in my job that I am highly skilled at, but I also apply them in all areas of my life

I am: charming; a good listener; very good at explaining/teaching (adults); quick to learn languages including technical ones; witty; a great host and an entertaining guest; an inventive problem-solver; creative; intelligent; articulate; assertive. I'm a competent writer and designer. I have nice legs, good hair and pretty eyes.

I taught myself to do this when I realised my career had stalled

I am good at seeing the good in people/their actions, people see this as me being a pushover or naive, but no, I am just good at being a bus person.

I also learned today that I am fantastic at putting up wallpaper! (First time I have attempted it)

i am good at writing code in a well structured reusable way.
I make sponge cakes kids love (how much icing...)
I make great marble runs

I am good at interior designing.

Oh here is a biggy, I am good at being sensible with our money.

It's really hard not to follow this up with a list of my shortcomings.

I'm a very fast reader.
I'm a fast learner.
I'm a good researcher, and am very good at synthesizing information.
I'm very good at critical thinking and analysis. I'm good at identifying flaws and gaps in arguments, as well as making connections.
I'm fantastic at making plans.
I'm good at prioritizing.
I'm extremely adaptable and resilient.
I cope well with solitude.
I bake nice cakes.
I'm a good listener.
I'm becoming extremely good at constructing complex layouts with DD's train set (using all the pieces of course.) (This is actually a serious one- I used to struggle to connect a pile of curved track into a circle!)

I am really good at steering/navigating boats (of all descriptions). A bit random, but I've spent a good proportion of my time in boats!

I am kind. I enjoy being generous.

I am an excellent problem solver and brilliant in emergencies.

I am really good at chopping down trees with my chainsaw. They always fall where I want them to, and carving them up into logs feels more like an art than manual labour.

I am intelligent and empathetic.

It's much harder than it looks not to qualify these with some self-deprecation.

I have excellent hand-eye coordination. When I was young this meant I was awesome at computer games, but I didn't realise it could be useful. After many many false starts where I tried to be good at stuff I was no good at, I have found a career to retrain in where hand-eye coordination is very valuable. I am good at learning in general, I am absolutely kicking ass on my university course (exam marks in the 90s)

I'm never at my most positive when tired
