I saw this on twitter recently: you tweet something you're damn good at, without apologising or getting into false modesty.

I was feeling a bit down today reading all the threads about how feminism is too this or too that, too academic or too humourless or not good enough at explaining itself - and I thought maybe it'd be good to have a more positive thread.

Rules: if you post a non-serious 'I'm so good at eating my bodyweight in stale Easter Eggs/procrastinating on MN' type thing, this counts as false modesty and you need to post something else too!

I'll start - I'm a really good teacher.

I am clever - both academically and pub quiz trivia-wise

I can dance really well.

I am very musical.

I buy excellent presents for friends and relatives.

I am superb at looking at odd shapes and working out how best to pack them into eg a suitcase.

I can take lots of disparate bits of information, work out the links and present them as a coherent whole (I am v good at Only Connect).

I can also cook by eye rather than weighing stuff out.

Love this thread!

Leeza2 · 21/08/2015 23:25

I'm a good gardener . I'm skilled at putting plants together in beautiful combinations

BoffinMum · 21/08/2015 23:40

I can face down really tough committees and win.

I can sing very well indeed.

I can read 500+ pages a day of technical stuff if I need to, and understand them and recall all the important bits as well as any mistakes.

I can embroider very well and I am toying the idea of doing a Royal School of Needlework degree.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 22/08/2015 10:13

I have excellent general knowledge.

I'm also a damn good driver.

I have good general knowledge.

Elllimam · 22/08/2015 10:56

Catheterisation

FarelyKnuts · 22/08/2015 11:43

I am extremely observant and read people very well. Which makes me very good at my job.
I am highly intelligent and can "see" and be working through any number of different solutions/ideas in my head while discussing a case with my colleagues and coming up with suggestions no one else thinks of. I'm known as the one to come to for ideas when you're stuck on a case.
I am good at being empathetic and putting frightened and traumatised people at ease.
I am shit hot at remembering pretty much every piece of trivia I read and regurgitating it when it's relevant.
I am good at being a chameleon and fitting in to any situation without looking out of place.

WoTmania · 22/08/2015 14:19

Love this thread. I though no2 on here is quite apt.
I don't really want to name my jobs as the combination makes me quite identifiable but in one role I do a fantastic job of supporting other women and I am pretty good at the job I'm training in and getting better.
I'm also a good mum, friend and person plus I can run really fast and am very strong

SuffolkNWhat · 22/08/2015 18:36

I'm an excellent teacher.

I have an encyclopedic knowledge of the Harry Potter books which I use in my teaching to engage pupils.

I do my own gel nails at home very well.

chickenfuckingpox · 22/08/2015 18:42

im very good at putting myself down overthinking and fucking up does that count?

i also tried to wallpaper for the first time a couple of weeks ago and to my shame it turned out better than my ex (used to be a paid decorator) husbands effort did my boys now have a room to be proud of!

LikeSilver · 22/08/2015 19:05

I loved reading this; thank you.

I am a good cook. I'm confident at it and I very rarely have a disaster.

I'm approachable and observant and I'm good at making others feel at ease.

I have a very good memory, particularly for song lyrics and numbers.

My kids would say I give the best tickle sandwiches in the world.

StealthPolarBear · 22/08/2015 19:12

Map reading.
And one I've just discovered - flat pack furniture. I'm putting together dd's mid sleeper with all its various units. I've lugged all the huge boxes up by myself and am putting it together by myself. And I'm enjoying it. Though I have just put a drawer runner on the top rather than the bottom of the drawer I blame the wine

StealthPolarBear · 22/08/2015 19:13

Scrambled can you read a map? I'm crap at sense of direction or following spoken directions. But if I have a map I'm away!

ScrambledSmegs · 22/08/2015 19:25

Yep, good at map reading with and without a compass. I have a deep-seated love of Ordnance Survey maps Grin

AmeliaNeedsHelp · 22/08/2015 19:44

I've discovered today that I'm really good at putting a calm face on things. Even when I'm seething inside I can talk calmly, rationally and get my point across.

StealthPolarBear · 22/08/2015 19:49

Well there goes my theory that it's one or the other!

MsInterpreted · 22/08/2015 20:11

I'm strong and well known for carrying things much heavier and much larger than my own diminutive stature.

I'm a pub quiz whizz with an excellent memory for names and dates.

I can sell ice to Eskimos Grin

WeirdCatLadySaysFuckOffJeffrey · 22/08/2015 20:57

I'm a great mum, a fierce friend, a battler who keeps on trying.

I'm very creative and clever.

I'm amazing Grin

(That was very hard to say without adding a shed load of caveats!)

OriKumi · 22/08/2015 21:03

I'm very good at reading maps.
I am exellent at my job and my colleagues rate me highly
I am very good at explaining very complicated stuff in simple terms

FlamingPie · 22/08/2015 21:25

I'm determined and driven. I'm currently taking time out from my career but I know I am valued in my field and am good at what I do. Even if sometimes my job scared me or kicked off a raging case of 'imposter syndrome', I still did it and delievered a good result and got great feedback.
I'm also a good mum to my son. I adopted him and have had to learn to parent him the way he needs it and manage his trauma regardless of what others think I should or shouldn't do. And I know I'm doing a good job there because he now spontaneously gives me cuddles and kisses and seeks out my help when he is feeling out of kilter emotionally.

Snoozebox · 22/08/2015 21:32

I am excellent at summing up situations, making my own decisions and not following the herd.

I have high levels of self-motivation.

I'm a good multi-tasker and efficient too.

I'm great at small talk and making people feel comfortable.

I have a very wide range of interests and can talk at length and in depth about most subjects.

I'm agile and flexible and can squeeze into tiny places and climb surprisingly well.

I'm brave in emergencies, have extremely quick reflexes and notice when things are 'wrong' in the environment before most others.

I often think I should have joined the Army or MI5 or summat :D I also have a vivid imagination! to the point of paranoia

I am good at making the best of things in a less than ideal situation.
