I saw this on twitter recently: you tweet something you're damn good at, without apologising or getting into false modesty.

I was feeling a bit down today reading all the threads about how feminism is too this or too that, too academic or too humourless or not good enough at explaining itself - and I thought maybe it'd be good to have a more positive thread.

Rules: if you post a non-serious 'I'm so good at eating my bodyweight in stale Easter Eggs/procrastinating on MN' type thing, this counts as false modesty and you need to post something else too!

I'll start - I'm a really good teacher.

I am determined,resourceful, and I have inner strength.

bigkids, your post was really lovely to read because I don't think I have ever heard anyone say that before! Though I'm sure they thought it.

I can put an argument together very, very fast (or take one apart). It's a really useful skill for me. I'm pretty clever.

I am very good at writing, and at tailoring it for my audience.
I am a great knitter.
I'm good at running things, seeing what needs to happen and making it so.
I have a really good memory.
I can grasp things quickly and assimilate knowledge fast.
I've recently got pretty good at low carb diabetic friendly cooking.

I'm very good at taking meeting minutes that all present will agree on, even in fraught circumstances.

I'm good at facilitating meetings.
I'm good at creative problem solving in group situations.
I'm good at passing written exams.
I'm good at being unobtrusive, non-threatening and apparantly insignificant when needed.
I'm good at reading a document, pulling out the key points and summarising them either in writing or verbally.

I've only realised I'm clever recently. I thought I'd had a series of good luck, an easy ride, hadn't been found out yet. It took me yonks to realise a man in my position wouldn't be dithering about thinking these things and would be earning significantly more than me

I write very well.
I am very knowledgeable in my subject areas.
I am very 'deep' and, dare I say, wise. I can put deep things into simple words very easily.
I am a great teacher and mentor.
I am a great friend and have a fabulous sense of fun.

Having read my post,I then wanted to post about the poor english that I used.....
But we are not doing that.
Instead I shall post that I have tested to have a very high iq,so sometimes I surprise people who look at me and make assumptions.

big - well, part of the reason for the twitter thing (and this thread) was to get women saying these things so we model it for other women.

Oh, I'm good at taking meeting minute, and spelling, and proof-reading and organising information.

I'm good at chairing discussions, making sure everybody's views get heard and coming away with a solution that most can agree or deal with.

I have beautiful handwriting, stunning I tell you!
I can teach English (to non-natives) to proficiency level and I'm bloody hood at it.
I frequently use big words because I love them, don't care if people think I'm a bighead for it.
I'm an amazing sewer: whipped up 5 pairs shorts for DS this afternoon, for summer.

I'm very good at finding geeky technical solutions to everyday problems (rather than creating technical things in the first place) and therefore pretty good at explaining them to less technical people. The tech guy at work gave me an admin password within two weeks of starting at work when I kept bugging him to install new gadget sync programs.

I'm going to add a couple me too's: I'm amazing at sex, and very talented with empathy. I'm also great at making connections and drawing parallels that others don't see until I show them, and am also incredibly intelligent. damn that last one feels weird to say; I want to justify it but don't think that's part of the thing we're doing?

I'm good at fixing computers. I'm also very efficient at work and can usually spot a spelling mistake straight away. I'm getting excellent grades at uni, which is no mean feat considering that I have 2 part time jobs and 2 young children.

I'm very good at managing managers. I have worked for two managers who are supposed to be 'tricky' in succession and who had had complaints from different people about their work, and they are both looking happier in their jobs and are getting terrific feedback in areas that I am supporting them with.

I am good at creating effective placements for students.

I am very good at putting complex concepts (once I understand them myself) into simple but non-patronising language.

It is lovely to read this thread with all the skills that aren't always even recognised. I am awed at all the skilled orgasmers here.

I'm good at music. All sort of things relating to music. I play two instruments, one pretty well, and one to a high standard. I understand music, the technical stuff, the theory, the history, how it fits into society and the arts within each era. I can identify music as having been by a particular composer, even if I have never heard the piece of music before, because I can identify the style.

And similarly, I am the person you want on your pub quiz team in the music round, because I have a huge memory for music and can identify songs/bands/year of release for all manner of pop music.

I am good at decision making and good at prioritising. I have a great memory and can usually recall useful stuff at the appropriate time. I'm good at writing and can produce stuff quickly.

I can run really fast for ages and am a really good competitor in races. I am super calm in an emergency. I am very, very good with a long staff and good enough with my fists to be a massive handful. If I trip over when I'm running I do a stunt roll straight back onto my feet without stopping.

It turns out i am really good at belittling myself. I can't think of one thing to brag off. This isn't false modesty or asking anyone to make suggestions, as none of you know me so can't. 10 years ago i would have been joining in, now post kids....

This is a self promise i will have thought of one thing by morning.
