Hi
Advice needed
Over the last 6 months my stomach has grown bigger and bigger like I am pregnant , I eat and exercise well but it’s growing..
Gp has referred me to gastro which will take 2 years to be seen .. but I worry it will be much larger by then ?
Any advice greatful . Should I call my gp again !

Raised iga levels are a indication of coeliac, that’s probably why you have been referred to gastro.

Welshandpro · 08/11/2021 12:01

@Saladd0dger does a large abdomen cause celiac?

OP posts:
Welshandpro · 08/11/2021 12:01

@Saladd0dger plus they referred me to gastro before the blood results were done

Coeliac can cause a large abdomin.
Take a look at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coeliac-disease/symptoms/

I put a official complaint in to my gp on Friday. If you cant get through to the gp, ask to speak to the practice manager. Dont be fobbed off.

@HealthworriesNC yes I will .. I've just phoned gastro and I'm still on the routine waiting list up to 2 years .. I cannot wait 2 years ! Shock I'll see what a and e say .. and I will show photos as this is a real picture of how it has grown .. they might just think my abdomen is usual like this but if I show the difference hopefully they will realise x

I was referred to gastro 2 years ago. Still waiting. Luckily I did go privately and I am doing much better having been diagnosed and treated. I don't think the NHS appt will ever materialise.
Good luck OP. You really do need to be seen asap.

ThePoetsWife · 08/11/2021 13:15
@ThePoetsWife does the photo look right to you ?
It's the speed as well as size that is worrying.

justasking111 · 08/11/2021 13:26

Did @Welshandpro eMail the GP with all these pictures as I suggested?

Chickydoo · 08/11/2021 13:36

Definitely email GP the photos
It does look like you are pregnant (sorry to sound rude) I've had severe Gastro issues in the past, however bloating tends to be intermittent & the ever increasing size of your abdomen is certainly unusual.
You need to be seen by a specialist ASAP

@Welshandpro I think that’s a better plan than A&E. as scary as it is and you need seeing you might wait 8hours at A&E and then not get seen. Also lying about the severe pain you don’t have might actually affect your initial care as some sinister things don’t cause pain etc and they might not investigate you correctly. You do need to see your GP and get referred for scans etc but A&E might not see you.

DramaLlllama · 08/11/2021 14:37

Agree with posters who say that ovarian cancer should be rules out first. The GP can put you on a 2 week wait pathway to do diagnostic tests for ovarian cancer (ultrasounds). This should be done as a minimum imo

Welshandpro · 08/11/2021 18:57

Hi all - we the gp called me and I went in .. he totally agreed with me and said I should have had an internal scan to check my ovaries .. he also checked my urine which showed glucose and he said I could have a problem with my ovaries which is pushing on my bladder and kidneys and effecting them so he is referring me for a scan .. is also also doing another CA125 test as the last one was June .. he said the abdomen is not right .. it still could be gastro he said but also gynae .: so see what happens with gynae and the scan first and go from there .. finally someone is listening to me x
