Has your weight changed lost or gained?

justasking111 · 07/11/2021 00:01

Are you pooping peeing normally

Welshandpro · 07/11/2021 11:31

@HealthworriesNC can I ask what other symptoms you have ? And is your stomach the same shape ? Mine is really odd and the swelling is getting higher up towards my ribs .. I also have started to urinate more often .. the only scan I have had is an ultrasound of the gallbladder which was clear .. I have asked my go to see if she can put me as urgent x

A gp should be looking in to this until they get to the bottom of it. I'd go back on Monday morning. So the only thing they looked for was gallstones?

Welshandpro · 07/11/2021 11:41

@BruiserWoods she said she would send me for an ultrasound.. when I got there the radiographer said no gallstones .. the scan is to look at gallstones and it's up to my gp to refer for other scans if they feel I need more as this scan was to only look at gallstones ?

you need to be more assertive, sorry if that sounds rude. Flowers the gp should be checking very specifically for ovarian cancer.

I clicked on this thread and I was about to post about adrenal fatigue, insulin resistance, HIIT and so on, but having seen the pictures you've posted with only five months between them, no gp should be sending you away until they've rule out ovarian cancer.

Sorry if this thread is scaring you but go back to the gp tomorrow morning and ask for the type of scan / test that would determine if you have ovarian cancer.

Or are they saying that the blood test ruled that out?

Welshandpro · 07/11/2021 12:01

@BruiserWoods you don't sound rude .. I appreciate your advice .. I last actually saw my gp in person in June that's when she referred for ultrasound on gallbladder and referral to gastro.. since then I haven't actually seen a gp I phoned on thurs and that's when she said the bloods have come back high with IGA from months ago but unless I phoned they wouldn't have told me that .. so a gp hasn't actually seen me In Person since June everything has been over the phone assessments .. I told her thurs my stomach has increased a lot so she's sending another letter to gastro to see me quicker x

@BruiserWoods this is me today with a top on .. as you can imagine it's very upsetting for me as I'm trying to hide it with baggy tops

I think you need to go back and ask for an ultrasound scan to rule out a gynaecological issue such as large ovarian cyst or fibroid.

I had what I thought were IBS issues, and that’s how I framed the problem with the gp, but a scan following a miscarriage showed I had a large ovarian growth (dermoid cyst) and I turned out to have fibroids and endometriosis too.

BorsetshireBanality · 07/11/2021 12:05

Transvaginal ultrasound - to rule out ovarian/uterus issues

endofagain · 07/11/2021 12:06

I am assuming youmean abdomen not stomach OP. I immediately thought ovarian cancer. You need urgent assessment. Dont be fobbed off.

endofagain · 07/11/2021 12:07

Not being pedantic, if you say stomach on phone to gp they will go off down the gastro route. You need a pelvic exam

BruiserWoods · 07/11/2021 12:08

Please go tomorrow xx

Welshandpro · 07/11/2021 12:12

@endofagain well yeah maybe I should have said abdomen .. but I explained to her in the best way I could is that I look pregnant .. she said the ovarian blood test was ok so haven't said anymore about ovaries etc .. she said it's with gastro and up to them now .. feeling like I'm getting fobbed off .. she said it could be good intake but I said it's not that as I'm a good eater and exercise x

There was a mumsnetter called Twitterqueen who sadly died of ovarian cancer.

She started off posting about her belly getting suddenly being bigger.

Look up her posts, using the search facility, OP.

AnCailleachOiche · 07/11/2021 12:17

Definetly push ahead with an investigation op. Good luck

''Tests at the hospital
Ultrasound scan: A device like a microphone passed over your tummy to give a picture of the tissues inside your body. It can show any abnormal changes.
Transvaginal ultrasound: A small probe is put into your vagina to produce clear pictures of your womb and ovaries.
Laparoscopy: A thin flexible tube with a camera attached to it is passed through a small cut in your tummy. The lets your doctor look for any abnormal changes in your ovaries and take sample of cells (biopsy). The test is done under general anaesthetic. You will have some stitches in your tummy after the test.
CA125 blood test: CA125 is a chemical found in blood that is sometimes released from ovarian cancer cells. It is known as a tumour marker for ovarian cancer. Not all women with ovarian cancer will have a raised CA125.
Biopsy: A sample of the cells is taken and looked at under a microscope in the lab to see if there are any cancer cells. The biopsy can be done during a laparoscopy.''

So, one blood test can not catagorically rule out OC. The gp should be referring you on for transvaginal scans.

I would be far more direct to her. ''I need to see you so you can refer me on for a transvaginal scan''

BruiserWoods · 07/11/2021 13:29

''Not all women with ovarian cancer will have a raised CA125.''

If she tells you that the blood test results rule out OC, tell her this.

Welshandpro · 07/11/2021 13:36

@BruiserWoods thank you .. I will call again tomorrow.. you don't speak to the same gp every time and that's the problem but I will see if I can speak to the gp I spoke to on Thursday .. with covid everything seems so slow x
