Oh wow, well no answers but some reassurance. I wonder if there is really an 18 month wait! That sounds like the kind of thing they say to manage yr expectations and stop you ringing up. But 18 months, wow. Xx

Orchidflower1 · 01/12/2021 08:00

So glad it doesn’t seem anything sinister on your ovaries or womb. 18months is a very long wait though for gastro app. Hope you can get further help for your gp whilst you wait. 💐

hazandduck · 01/12/2021 08:40

Ah I’m relieved for you that it’s nothing sinister but it must be frustrating not getting an answer or diagnosis. 18 months seems ridiculous! They can’t leave you suffering for that long :(

TheFormidableMrsC · 01/12/2021 09:52

@Welshandpro

Hi all - well I had my scan and my overlies and womb look fine according to the radiographer .. I had an external and internal done .. although I am happy it's nothing sinister I'm also upset as I still don't know what it is .. the only think left now is gastro which is an 18 month wait
I can't see how they can leave you in that state going forward. I'd be insisting on an urgent referral and contacting PALS if necessary.
ricepolo · 01/12/2021 10:59

I’m glad they didn’t find anything but I don’t understand. Surely they could see what is behind the skin and therefore giving you the large stomach? Yet again it feels like you’ve been let down by the medical care you’ve received: I’m sorry :(

PatterPaws · 01/12/2021 12:56

How frustrating for you. Thanks

My dp missed an appointment a few months back for Gastro despite calling to let them know he could not attend .
EuromamaAussiekids · 02/12/2021 00:06

Sorry I hit post too soon

The have put him to the back of the queue and yes it is an 18 month wait to see Gastro atm

Innocenta · 02/12/2021 08:58

I'm so glad there was nothing awful on the scan.

I think you should see a private consultant ASAP. Your quality of life is obviously affected very much, and sadly the NHS is under so much strain - private is often the only way to get fast help at the moment. You shouldn't have to, but in your situation it's almost certainly the best option.

(With such intense bloating, you might look into small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) - I'm not trying to diagnose you or anything as there are so, so many things that can cause this; it's just one that popped into my mind as not being checked by the scan you've had.)

Hi @Welshandpro please do have a private scan if you are able to. Nhs waiting times are crazy atm.
I've been told it will take at least 12 weeks to get my smear test results back.

Hi Welshpro
I hope you’re ok. I wanted to let you know that you starting this thread made me pay attention to similar symptoms and get myself to the doctor in late November and it’s resulted in a diagnosis of primary peritoneal cancer and I start chemo next week. It may not actually save my life ‘for ever’ but it will hopefully give me a few more years to grow my kids up so thank you…
Keep pushing for your own tests, including the blood test for CA125 (tumour marker) and I hope g du or the best for you.

cosmopolitanplease · 28/12/2021 16:58

Sorry to hear that @MrsWooster, I hope your treatment goes well.

Welshandpro · 01/07/2022 08:12

Hi everyone - I thought I’d update everyone - I had scans which we’re all clear .. still having pain in my stomach and back .. but now my stomach has gone a weird shape - doctors are just not doing anything - I’m on gynaecology waiting list which is up to 3 years waiting .but I’m in so much agony -HELP

Oh, OP, poor you.

I was following your posts before, no advice but I felt concern for you.

This just isn’t right. You shouldn’t be left in so much discomfort and with no answers.

I just don’t know what to suggest as I know nothing about anything relevant.

acuteanxiety · 01/07/2022 11:49

This is a disgrace

Go to the media

greyinganddecaying · 01/07/2022 12:25

OP when you had your scan did they focus on your pelvis or also your abdomen?
My scan found severely enlarged liver and my stomach looks like yours.

Welshandpro · 01/07/2022 12:51

@greyinganddecaying over 12 months ago they looked for gallstones and nothing and then in November they looked at my pelvis .. so they haven’t scanned my stomach in over 12 months x

greyinganddecaying · 01/07/2022 12:55

@Welshandpro - I would go back and ask for them to rescan you, if you can. It's not good enough that they're leaving you like this.

eurochick · 01/07/2022 14:45

This is awful. There is clearly something wrong. I can't believe that your GP is not being more diligent in trying to find the cause.

OverlySensitive · 01/07/2022 15:29

Please pay to see a private doctor! Your tummy does not look normal. You really need a second opinion.

Welshandpro · 01/07/2022 15:49

@OverlySensitive it’s been a nightmare as gps don’t know what it is and say it’s with the hospital referrals now - gynaecology and gastro but the thing is the waiting lists are 3 years .. they said it’s out of there hands .. they have send for another scan but that is a 4 months weight .. god knows what the size of my stomach will be by then :-(

OP I remember your thread and so sorry to hear months on you are still not being treated. Can you complain via PALS & your GP?
