Large painful lump next to anus

Sorry if this is TMI but I've been on a diet recently and the last week or so it's been more of a struggle to pass a bowel movement which has meant I've had to sit on the toilet for much longer than I normally would and strain more. Yesterday I had horrendous pain constantly in my anus which I just assumed was from the recent issues but it's got even worse today so I've done some prodding and I have a huge hard bulge on the left side of my anus moving up towards my vagina but it's all underneath the skin so I can't see anything other than swelling. It's painful constantly whether I'm standing, sitting or laying down. Will this be from the straining? I've done some Googling and can't work out whether it's Rectocele Expanded? Also how the hell do I treat this? Heat packs or ice packs? Any help is appreciated as I genuinely am in so so much pain.
Thanks!

Showers aren't allowed I'm afraid Betty

Thanks Little that's worth looking at. I've been told I'm not allowed to get it wet for at least another 2 weeks but might be worth it after that x

Agree with PP - I wouldn't be without my portable bidet for the later stages of recovery! So good at keeping things clean.

It's interesting how you're both getting slightly different advice, but I guess that's par for the course.

He did have an inflatable swimming ring but now has a more comfortable cushion www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B071RXGQ55/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

It all came away again as I went to the toilet this morning. Saw the nurse today for my daily appointment and she has now tried packing it with a gel rather than the gauze. I can't remember what she said the gel was but she said it's antibacterial and derives from seaweed? Let's see how this goes!

Ooh I've heard about a gel - sounds like it could be a better option for you. Fingers crossed it works better!

Have you got a follow up in place with a colorectal surgeon?

Riddlediddle · 08/07/2019 16:00

No a follow up hasn't been mentioned to me at all actually. I will ask the nurse tomorrow what standard procedure is for the follow up and when roughly it happens.

It definately was a lot less painful having the gel rather than the gauze packing. Just feels like I have a permanent wet bum though but as long as it's working and healing it I'm not going to complain!

How you doing @Riddlediddle, getting better I hope?

Riddlediddle · 10/07/2019 12:52

Getting there thank you! Just feels like such a long process and no end in sight yet

Hiw are things OP? I hope everything's improving for you xx

Riddlediddle · 13/07/2019 10:19

Things going well so far thanks. The nurses say the wound is getting much smaller now so fingers crossed the end is in sight!

Really pleased for you op. You’ve really been through a difficult time. Try as I might, when I am in physical ‘trouble’ its Always really hard to imagine it will ever end and I will be better !

Riddlediddle · 17/07/2019 06:09

I went back to work yesterday after being signed off but I don't think I appreciated how tired it would make me plus I had to keep pacing around as I couldn't sit down for any length of time. I'm still visiting the nurse daily so I will ask her today if she thinks I've gone back too early. Its amazing how much having this has zapped so much life out of me!

Going back to work wiped me out too! It just shows how much healing our bodies are doing in the background!

Hope the healing picks up speed for the last bit now @RiddleDiddle!

Hello

I know this is a slightly older post but I was just wondering how your recovery was going OP?

I had the same emergency surgery two weeks ago after going to a&e.

I am terrified of this happening again or turning into a fistula. The whole thing is really taking its toll on me as I am a very anxious person as it is.

Hope you are recovering well. I do think it’s good that the nurse changes the dressing every day so that someone is checking it at least( it’s hard to know if you are keeping it clean yourself) I have noticed that around the area does feel slightly swollen/ lump but not sure if that is just the healing process ( or because I haven’t dared to touch that area for weeks!!)

It really is such an unpleasant thing - I feel for everyone who has had this Smile

Riddlediddle · 29/09/2019 14:00

Sorry I've only just seen the most recent post on this. Sorry to hear that you also had this happen to you think - how are you getting on now?
Mine did unfortunately turn into a bad fistula meaning another surgery for me and who knows what going forward. I'm still off work with it now and it has been going on for 3 months!

PLEASE HELP
I have this lump in between my anus and vagina. It’s more closer to my anus. It’s really sore and stings when I go to the toilet. I’ve been using anus sol cream thinking it was piles but I’ve been applying the cream for days now and it’s still sore and stinging and nothing is happening! Weirdly it has some kind of holes or blisters on it god knows what it is I am very worried. It just won’t go away I’ve had it around a week

Sorry for the photos but I am so worried I don’t know what to do
