Large painful lump next to anus

Riddlediddle · 28/06/2019 18:58

Sorry if this is TMI but I've been on a diet recently and the last week or so it's been more of a struggle to pass a bowel movement which has meant I've had to sit on the toilet for much longer than I normally would and strain more. Yesterday I had horrendous pain constantly in my anus which I just assumed was from the recent issues but it's got even worse today so I've done some prodding and I have a huge hard bulge on the left side of my anus moving up towards my vagina but it's all underneath the skin so I can't see anything other than swelling. It's painful constantly whether I'm standing, sitting or laying down. Will this be from the straining? I've done some Googling and can't work out whether it's Rectocele Expanded? Also how the hell do I treat this? Heat packs or ice packs? Any help is appreciated as I genuinely am in so so much pain.
Thanks!

I think if you feel ill too it would be best to be checked out

AnthonyCrowley · 28/06/2019 20:04

If you're feeling unwell you need to be seen tonight.

Usingmyindoorvoice · 28/06/2019 20:06

I agree with pp sounds like a perianal abscess. Exactly same symptoms, flu like, awful pain, I ended up in hospital on IV anti biotics with surgery to drain.
It’s very unlikely to go away without medical intervention.

megletthesecond · 28/06/2019 20:07

If you don't feel well then you must go tonight, now, before the drunk influx in the middle of the night.

TwinsTrollsandHunz · 28/06/2019 20:07

Have you got a temperature, OP?

Can you take your pulse? What’s your heart rate doing?

CollyWobbleNightmares · 28/06/2019 20:10

If you go now, it shouldn’t be too bad. Flu-like symptoms tend to indicate infection. You need to be seen sooner rather than later.

Lougle · 28/06/2019 20:10

Please get seen ASAP.

TwinsTrollsandHunz · 28/06/2019 20:11

I’d be either attending A&E or calling my local out of hours service, if I were you. I agree that you should be seen sooner rather than later. Especially if your pain level is unmanageable at home.

Riddlediddle · 28/06/2019 20:13

I've popped 2 codeine so I'll see how things progress over the next hour

With severe pain and flu like symptoms you need seeing tonight. DS2 currently has chicken pox - one spot progressed from looking a bit grim when he saw a GP at 9am to severely infected and swollen with a high temp by 6:30pm. You’re already at the latter stage, you can’t wait until morning, it could be really serious

Call 111 - they can arrange for you to see a doctor, but their assessments may suggest you need an ambulance. Can anyone take you in?

CapybarasLoveCake · 28/06/2019 20:18

Go tonight. The drunks won’t be in till later. Your health is the most important thing.

MitziK · 28/06/2019 20:23

Feeling unwell suggests Sepsis.

This isn't something that can wait until morning.

ourmamageddon · 28/06/2019 20:24

That sounds awful! I'd get it seen to right away.

daffydowndilys · 28/06/2019 20:33

Please google sepsis symptoms OP

Riddlediddle · 28/06/2019 20:34

Juts done ear temp and it's 37.2 so I think that's not classed as high? What if it's just agonising piles and I go to a and e I'll be an absolute laughing stock and will be taking up precious resource they may be needed on someone else

megletthesecond · 28/06/2019 20:41

Even if it's just piles they won't laugh at you. I've had masses of problems with fissures and lumps over the years and every GP and nurse has been lovely and sympathetic. They flippin hurt!

InvisibleHamster · 28/06/2019 20:43

Go tonight please. Abscesses can be very serious. My husband had same symptoms as you and he ended up being admitted for surgery.

plinkyblonk · 28/06/2019 20:43

@Riddlediddle honestly people turn up to A&E for a hell of a lot less. They won't bat an eyelid especially if you have flu like symptoms aswell. I'd go tonight better to be safe. Xx

birdonawire1 · 28/06/2019 20:44

On second thoughts it sounds more like a bartholins cyst, which would explain the pain and feeling unwell, if they become infected. I'd definitely go to a walk in centre tomorrow

SinkGirl · 28/06/2019 20:51

The thing is, you’re not diagnosed with piles - you’re not diagnosed with anything. You have a large lump of unknown cause, severe pain and feel unwell. If they assess you and it turns out to be piles, they won’t be cross.

HumphreyCobblers · 28/06/2019 20:59

I had a perianal abscess and I really wish I had gone in sooner rather than later. It was left too long and I ended up with a fissure that required more surgeries to sort out.

notapizzaeater · 28/06/2019 20:59

Everyone here is saying you need to. E seen tonight - you really need to listen.

Sunshinegirl82 · 28/06/2019 21:05

If you don't want to do a&e then try 111, then you can be assessed and you may be able to see a GP tonight. They can by-pass a&e if they think it necessary.

fernandoanddenise · 28/06/2019 21:06

Yy to getting it sorted ASAP. If it’s a perianal abscess you will prob need anti biotics too. They might settle down then return so don’t ignore this even if you feel better, sometimes if you leave it surgery (multiple surgeries) are then needed. Don’t want to scare you with that but defo see a doctor as soon as you get an app.

sallyscallop · 28/06/2019 21:33

I know that Pintrest is even below DrGoogle in the food chain, but this looks quite similar to your symptoms. I'd ring 111
