Signed up last night as they're doing a special offer. Had a bit of a play around with the app and seems simple enough to use. Might treat myself to a fitbit for my birthday in a few weeks so I can link up to track sleep, exercise etc. I like that the app has exercise videos. Also like that I can meal plan simply and it creates a shopping list for me.

I am 41, I weigh 68kg, am 5ft2. Have a family history of diabetes, heart issues etc that I want to avoid. WFH has made me unfit, rarely do any steps, gyms closing over lockdown and I haven't found thr motivation to go back. Was in a great habit of getting to DD school early at pick up time and walking around the block with my headphones on, then got a promotion and my calendar is back to back to back video calls 😶 DD wants to exercise too, so plan is to do some fun YouTube workouts together in the evenings.

Not sure today was a good day to start as it's NYE. Had 1 and half weetabix this morning. Taking DD out for a late lunch. And have a noodle salad ready for this evening. Going to finish my meal plan and then do a big online shop tonight. Looking forward to week 1 :)

I've been on ww since Monday and have a few questions for those who may know :)
If you use your weeklies does that mean you won't lose weight?
I can't understand the calorie=points system.
For example my daily points are 19.
Yet a single type of muffin from m&s at 463 caloroes is 23 points!?
Am I missing something?
I'm certainly eating far more fruit and veg which is good.
I've got at least 2 Stone to lose :( and would like to think I could see a difference in 4 weeks...?

QforCucumber · 06/08/2022 19:07

@Chevyimpala67 youre not missing anything, those things are all sugar and butter! You should get some weeklies to utilise too and you can earn points back with veggies, exercise and water

Thank you. I guess so. Probably why I'm so fat 🙂
I've got weeklies (can't remember how many I started with tbh...) and I've had extras added for veggies etc
I've used most of the weeklies as I had a few bits of mint aero on Thursday night (loooong difficult day...) and couldn't believe how many points it was!! 😳
But I did count them so hoping I've not spolit this week 😬
I've not been able to synch my Google fit device so I'm not getting any extras for the steps I'm doing. I'm trying to do the nhs active 3 (3 x 10 minutes very brisk walking).

Chevyimpala67 · 07/08/2022 08:42

I've lost a kilo since Monday :)
Despite the mint aero! :)
I think it's going to be a slow slog but I'll get there

KatharineofAragon · 07/08/2022 09:42

Thinking of joining. Could someone explain in layman’s terms how it all works please?

Chevyimpala67 · 07/08/2022 11:18

Download the app.
You get your daily points then have weekly points too.
You can "earn" more points by drinking water, activity and eating veggies.
You choose your zero point foods from a questionnaire so they are different for everyone.
I used 22 of my weekly points last week and still lost a kilo.
If you have loads to lose and depending on your zero point foods your daily points will be high.
Mine is 18.
I have 28 weeklies.
I've tried some of the recipes and all but 1 have been lovely.
There are podcasts, exercise classes and meetings all online.
I'm fairly impressed so far but I think it's takes a while to navigate

LadyWithLapdog · 16/08/2022 23:44

I’ve joined tonight. Thank you @BettySweaty for the link.

How’s everyone doing?

BettySweaty · 17/08/2022 09:44

I've just been on holiday and have had a fine old time. Need to get off holiday mode and back into it now. Can feel my belly getting bigger!

LadyWithLapdog · 17/08/2022 19:22

Welcome back. Did you track when away? Do you contribute to the various threads in WW? God knows I don’t need more places to spend time online, but I feel this might actually help.

BettySweaty · 17/08/2022 20:45

I didn't track while I was away. I had a lovely relaxing holiday, put my phone away and don't look at a clock for a fortnight, ate and drank what I fancied (not a glutton, just enjoyed what I had). Was lovely.

Been tonight for weigh in. What I expected in terms of a gain, but it's no problem. I'll likely do a menu plan and a shopping list over this next day or so and get back in the swing of it, and get the extra lbs off.

BettySweaty · 17/08/2022 20:46

And no, I don't really post anywhere else. Can't always be bothered. Rather be doing something else with my time, get sick of staring at a screen. 😀

Rosehugger · 12/09/2022 14:36

Hello. How do you earn points back with veggies?

LadyWithLapdog · 12/09/2022 15:04

You add tomatoes etc and you get points added to your daily points available

Rosehugger · 13/09/2022 09:36

Thank you. What I'm confused about is not being able to see the activity which has been added to the weekly points. I think I've added yoga three times and now have too many points (because I couldn't see it come up in Activity), and there seems to be no way to see what you've added which forms part of the weekly points so it's all a bit confusing.

Rosehugger · 13/09/2022 09:39

Ah, don't worry, I can see it now, it has updated. I had put yoga in three times and managed to delete two!

Rosehugger · 22/09/2022 12:16

How is everyone doing? I lost 2lbs in the first weeks and had felt I was eating absolutely loads. Really pleased.

LadyWithLapdog · 25/09/2022 08:02

I’ve lost 4.5kg in 6 weeks so I’m pleased with that.

Rosehugger · 29/09/2022 13:41

Brilliant, well done.

4lbs off in two weeks now. I'm delighted. I seem to be losing weight on WW as easily as I did 20 years ago, and that is unheard of in the last 12+ years.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 02/10/2022 10:21

I’m currently unsure whether to do WW, Louise Parker or low blood sugar. For the sake of simplicity I might just go with WW.
I’m just nervous about all the pay up front for six months and get x amount free stuff. If it isn’t working for me I would prefer to be able to cancel.

LadyWithLapdog · 02/10/2022 15:04

You can cancel WW at any time

SilverLiningPlaybook · 02/10/2022 17:06

How does that work though? If you have had four free months and then cancel, surely that can't be possible?

LadyWithLapdog · 02/10/2022 18:53

Hi. I’m on a different plan, I think first month free then a rolling monthly contract.

Rosehugger · 03/10/2022 09:18

There are various different options. I'm on free for four months, then I think you have to pay for at least two after that at £18.95 a month. That's ok, am prepared to have a six month crack at this.

Bagzzz · 06/10/2022 08:16

Disheartening- my first week tracked precisely, just one day I ate quite a bit but tracked using weeklies. Gained weight! 😫

Rosehugger · 06/10/2022 10:21

Oh dear.

Make sure you are having the right portion sizes for 0 point food. For example, avocado is 0 for me, but the correct portion is half a medium avocado, or a whole mini one (I sometimes weigh the scooped out flesh to check). Just because it's zeo, it doesn't mean I can eat 3 avocados a day.

Potatoes are zero for me but they are supposed to be computer mouse sized for a jacket.

Also check portion sizes for any calorific food - pasta, rice, butter, cheese etc. Easy to have too much.

If you are adding back points for vegetables make sure it is a non-starchy vegetable that counts and that you are eating enough of it for it to count to add back a point.
