Signed up last night as they're doing a special offer. Had a bit of a play around with the app and seems simple enough to use. Might treat myself to a fitbit for my birthday in a few weeks so I can link up to track sleep, exercise etc. I like that the app has exercise videos. Also like that I can meal plan simply and it creates a shopping list for me.

I am 41, I weigh 68kg, am 5ft2. Have a family history of diabetes, heart issues etc that I want to avoid. WFH has made me unfit, rarely do any steps, gyms closing over lockdown and I haven't found thr motivation to go back. Was in a great habit of getting to DD school early at pick up time and walking around the block with my headphones on, then got a promotion and my calendar is back to back to back video calls 😶 DD wants to exercise too, so plan is to do some fun YouTube workouts together in the evenings.

Not sure today was a good day to start as it's NYE. Had 1 and half weetabix this morning. Taking DD out for a late lunch. And have a noodle salad ready for this evening. Going to finish my meal plan and then do a big online shop tonight. Looking forward to week 1 :)

I started last Tuesday when I went back to work. I’m on 37 daily points as I have quite a lot to lose. Points for veggies is definitely making me eat more. I could live off fruit but eat very few veggies usually. Weighing in tomorrow but a sneaky mid week weigh said I’d lost about 5lb so I’m hoping for 6 or 7lb by tomorrow.

ilovegreen · 09/01/2022 17:06

Hi @PonyPals. I agree it doesn’t add up from a calorie-counting perspective. But they want to encourage you to fill up on those healthy foods - and these foods you are less likely to over eat. And then the other non-zero foods are set quite high in points, and so those have to be small portions otherwise you go over budget.

ilovegreen · 09/01/2022 17:08

@StillRowing - that sounds really encouraging.

The3Ls · 09/01/2022 17:59

Having my first blast at WW previously done slimming world and slim fast. Feel I've eaten loads bit healthy and not been hungry. It's stopping me grabbing and going and definitely reduce my refined carbs and upped my fruit. At least if I loose nothing I've eaten better!

GettingMarriedAgain · 09/01/2022 19:11

I’m thinking of trying this - have never really dieted before but am now early 50s and my waist has expanded far more than I’m happy with.

Have just had a look at the digital membership options and not sure whether to go for the 6 month or 9 month option. I guess the 9 month option works out cheaper in the long run. What are you all doing?

ilovegreen · 09/01/2022 19:42

I signed up for 3 month, as didn’t want to be in long term contract.

I guess it depends on how long you think it will take to reach your goal, and how sure you are you will like the WW method.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 09/01/2022 20:37

Thank you guys, was really pleased.

Welcome to all the new people, I really hope it works for you. It is confusing to begin with but definitely definitely encourages healthy eating, you really can’t eat much ‘junk’ otherwise you run out of points, so it’s definitely helping me be more mindful about what I’m eating and what I’m willing to spend points on.

I had some mini eggs (about 12) after dinner that were the same points as a big dinner which really makes you think!

Gooseysgirl · 10/01/2022 09:05

2lb off for me this week, very happy with that. Need to change up breakfast a bit as I'm eating the same thing (cereal & milk) every day which uses 6 of my points each time. Going to start tracking my sleep and water intake this week - definite not getting enough of either!

GettingMarriedAgain · 10/01/2022 09:34

Think you're right - I've signed up for 3 months too. Not got a clue what I'm dong yet but will have a read through the app later and see if I can work it out!
ilovegreen · 10/01/2022 13:35

Well done @Gooseysgirl. I’m 1.5lbs off and also pleased. Let us know how you get on with the water/sleep tracking and if you think it is worth doing it.

QforCucumber · 10/01/2022 13:43

@Gooseysgirl Best breakfast I find is 2 eggs, scrambled, a crumbling of feta and some chopped spinach - the spinach gets you back a point of the 2 used by the feta so its a 1 point breakfast

Gooseysgirl · 10/01/2022 13:44

Oooo I like the sound of that @QforCucumber

Mommybunny · 10/01/2022 13:46

@QforCucumber Eggs aren’t zero points for everyone…

QforCucumber · 10/01/2022 15:33

@Mommybunny Oh really? I did not realise this!

GettingMarriedAgain · 10/01/2022 16:15

I’ve tried to add my meals for the day so far. Is an apple really 3 points? Shock

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 10/01/2022 23:57

Joining for a bit of solidarity and support if that's ok! Just rejoined WW and currently getting to grips with the new plan... have been doing some meal planning today before hitting the supermarket. I lost a stone last year, have 2.5 more to lose and would like to (finally!) make this the year that I shift the baby weight once and for all. The DC are now 6 Blush

ilovegreen · 11/01/2022 20:57

Well done for restarting @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. Out of interest did you manage to maintain the loss in between? I had a break and did put some weight on so I’m going to have to look carefully at a maintenance plan before I stop. I’m not there yet (it is coming off slowly but surely) but just thinking ahead as I don’t want to make all these changes to what I eat without keeping it up. At the moment the amount of vegetables I eat is a bit over the top. I think it can do damage to the teeth too!

ilovegreen · 11/01/2022 21:40

@GettingMarriedAgain - I think it depends on how you answer the food survey ( and you can update it if you wish ). For me fruit is zero - I think because I said I like to eat is often.

ilovegreen I think that’s what it is - it’s just going to take a few days to work out how to eat with the plan they’ve come up with - I get free vegetables and avocados on mine so that’s a bonus.

Gooseysgirl · 12/01/2022 18:48

My grilled salmon has just cost me 8 points! I was used to having that for free in the past...

Ijustlovethem · 13/01/2022 07:24

I've been doing WW since the new year after having the app but just not using it last year Blush I started heavier than ever at 15 stone 9 (am horrified with myself - kids close together and lockdown have not been kind...) Have an initial target of getting to 12.5 stones and am 2.5lbs down so far. Was hoping for a quicker start but I guess slow is sustainable.

I wondered whether anyone else is finding that they have an insane amount of weeklies? I've not been using them really because I haven't needed to (and I'm doing dry January- I'd usually have dipped in to them for booze) and I've got the app linked to my fitbit. I finished the week with 109 weeklies!! If I'm losing slowly, how on earth could I possibly use them?

GettingMarriedAgain · 13/01/2022 08:04

Fish is free for me - I think it depends on how you answer the questions at the beginning. I think you can redo the questions to change which things have no points if it’s not working for you. 8 points does seem very high though! Shock

I was surprised that 1.5 walnuts was 2 points - I normally eat handfuls of nuts as I think they’re healthy but that would be my day’s points!

GettingMarriedAgain · 13/01/2022 08:10

Ijustlovethem I don’t really understand the weeklies. I only started on Monday and used a lot of points the first two days (much more than the day’s allowance) as I wasn’t really sure what I was doing and I’ve still managed to have 40 weeklies. If I add more points today and tomorrow from walking & eating veg then I’ll end up with even more this weekend - I can’t imagine I’m going to use them and if I did I don’t know how it would help my weight loss as I’d be able to have a massive blow out!

This is how I feel - I think maybe the amount you get for walking is super high. I get way more for walking (usually do 15 - 20k steps) than I did for a hiit class that left me knackered. I'm going to have to ignore the ones added for exercise I think and put a limit on myself. I could've had a bottle of wine on about 5 nights last week and still had a few spare which seems bonkers!
QforCucumber · 13/01/2022 12:58

God I seem to use all my weeklies at the minute but I'm in the office all day every day so hardly registering any steps ( I also love cheese which does not help!)
