WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Thanks kosher

I have bought some quark today and will hopefully use it this week in cooking, in the WW booklet this week there was a chicken and bacon bake thingy which contained quark and was free on a filling and healthy day so I might make that. It has celeriac mash on it and I know DH won't eat it so I will change it to normal mash which should still keep it free because you can have unlimited potatoes on filling and healthy (I think!)

Any other ideas for quark?

I am intrigued about courgette pasta and spaghetti squash, might have to try that.

I am really enjoying (!) being able to mix point counting days and filling and healthy days, I don't feel like I am missing out on anything that way.

Sorry for rambling on!

TimeToPassGo · 17/01/2014 21:12

Well done Fluffy Smile New WW sounds a bit like Slimming World with the different types of days. Quark I am no help at all with wouldn't know where to find it even in the supermarket Grin

trainersandcake · 17/01/2014 21:45

Fluffy we had a lot of Quark when I was growing up (veggie mum!).

You can mix it with 3 tsps hot chocolate powder (2 ProPoints) for a kind of pudding, have it with roasted hot tomatoes on Ryvita, use it instead of ricotta in pasta, or stir it into cooked, slightly cooled spaghetti wih Parmesan, peas, black pepper and lemon zest. Or use it like you would Philadelphia.

Maybe I should join the Quark marketing board!

KosherBacon · 18/01/2014 06:25

I've just ordered a julienne peeler. Courgette noodles here I come.

TimeToPassGo · 18/01/2014 12:54

Yeah I have a julienne peeler looking sad and lonely at the back of the drawer - time I gave it a new lease of life! This recipe sounds quite nice!

TimeToPassGo · 18/01/2014 12:56

And this.

TimeToPassGo · 18/01/2014 21:18

Pretty much on target points today. Unusual for a Saturday but just haven't felt scoffy.

KosherBacon · 18/01/2014 23:33

I made rocky road/ tiffin with DS today and have just had a ten course tasting menu with matched wines. What are pro points again?

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 19/01/2014 04:46

Hello everyone, can I please join? I signed up for ww last Thursday having previously lost 2st for my wedding on the plan (pp). That weight sadly came back on, I have a 6 week old baby that really liked sweet stuff during pregnancy - it wasn't me that wanted those cakes and goodies you understand ;)

I have about 3 stone to lose to get down to my ideal weight, and I am really determined to stick at it this time.

Interested in the quark recipe ides as I have never cooked with it before. Must get some and give it a whirl.

I'm doing the simple start this week, it's not too hard to follow however my sweet tooth is telling me otherwise. Other than fruit, does anyone have any good sweetish treats?

TimeToPassGo · 19/01/2014 16:22

Anyone else absolutely love a big juicy Sunday lunch? Grin Mine is resting contentedly in my stomach right now Grin

TimeToPassGo · 19/01/2014 16:24

And welcome Janey am on phone so didn't see you thereSmile Lots of blubber disappearing on this thread so come and add your own Wink

fluffydressinggown · 19/01/2014 17:57

Hi Janie :)

I have been eating sugar free jelly to get my sweet fix in. I also went to the pound shop and bought some Weight Watchers branded chocolate biscuits which are only 2 pps.

I was terrible yesterday and ate 2 (yes 2 at the same time) caramel shortbreads, feel very guilty now!

Having a healthy and filling day today and having a roast dinner which will all be free :)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 19/01/2014 19:48

Thanks for the welcomes and the tips :) I've got serious baby mush brain and can hardly even think of what to make for tea tomorrow! Had roast chicken tonight yum.

Is spray oil ok on simple start? I can't see anything in the booklet other than the daily oil allowance.

So what are you all having for tea tomorrow?

trainersandcake · 19/01/2014 20:46

Welcome Janie!

For dinner tomorrow I will be having veggie sausage hash, made with sausage, apple, new potatoes, apple, beetroot and fennel seeds.

It's surprisingly yum! Made by wannabe-chef DH. It is weigh in before that, though...!

trainersandcake · 19/01/2014 20:47

Oh and I think spray oil is fine.

fluffydressinggown · 19/01/2014 21:17

At my meeting someone asked the leader if spray oil was ok on Simple and she said it was.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 19/01/2014 21:41

Ah thanks, I'll have to get some in tomorrow :)

Veggie sausage hash sounds delicious! Yum! I guess it world maybe work with chicken pieces too?

I'm thinking if having homemade tandoori chicken...saw a tv chef make it yesterday lunchtime so I'm going to try to adapt it to simple start...chicken pieces (he used skinless drumsticks), 0% yoghurt, tandoori spices, mix up and and leave to marinade as long as possible before grilling. Not sure what to have it with, maybe some ww wraps and salad or rice and minty yoghurty dip. Starving just thinking about it!

TimeToPassGo · 19/01/2014 23:37

Pork medallions for dinner here tomorrow!

With WW planning is absolutely the key. For me, zero point soup is the business. I need to make another batch tomorrow. Have one frozen portion of broccoli soup for lunch tomorrow.

Anyone fancy calculating our total weight loss so far on this thread? Think we've lost a couple of stone between us :)

beachavendrea · 20/01/2014 05:48

Those dinners sounds delicious! I've been having salad and grilled meat most nights. In trying to spice up the salsa with some sun dried toms but not much luck.
I read somewhere that it takes 4 weeks for you to Joyce a difference, 8 weeks for you're family 12 weeks for the rest of the world. I'm coming up to 4 weeks now and I think I am starting to see a difference. I hope my eyes are deceiving me (they have before)
Welcome janie were in the same boat, 3 stone post baby, I just can't work it out I didn't feel that big when I was pregnant but I guess I must have been huge!

KosherBacon · 20/01/2014 06:05

Janie- hello and welcome. That tandoori rescue sounds yummy. Don't forget that you get 2tsp of a healthy oil a day on simple start (sunflower, olive and I can't remember the other types!) so you get to use those plus spray oil.

I've had a bad weekend with far too much wine (I actually thought I was going to die yesterday) so have to be good until Wednesday. I'm hoping for a stay the same.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 20/01/2014 06:46

Yes the tandoori recipe does sound tasty, I can't link it on iPad but Google 'Simon Hopkinson, homemade tandoori chicken' and the full recipe should come up :). Looks adaptable.

Beach that's interesting about the 4/8/12 week thing! Sadly 1.5st of my weight was there already before my baby was even a twinkle in his daddy's eye! The other 1.5 I can blame my craving for haribo tangfastics and extra mature cheddar. But there's only so long I can blame baby weight!! How old is your little one? Mine will be 7wks onwednesday (I'm glad I was able to Gorb on cheese and choc over Xmas as I've pretty much sickened myself now!)

kosher I hope you had a fab night :). Sometimes the dehydration of a hangover takes off an extra pound hahaha! (Pls drink responsibly peeps etc etc!)

Must dart over to poundland this morning and get some ww wraps and ww bickies. I am one of those people that has to have something with my cuppaand Jaffa cakes are Ina tube of about 20, crisis aversion if they're only wrapped in 2s! I've gone cold turkey on my sugar in my tea so I'm half way there!! Oh and I realised spray oil was used I the recipes in the SS booklet, just couldn't see it in the food lists, phew!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 20/01/2014 06:47

time I totally agree with the planning!! All too easy to grab something naughty otherwise!

KosherBacon · 20/01/2014 09:25

My baby weight was a mixture of mcflurries and kitkat peanut butter chunkies. It wasn't me- it was the baby. Alas he's 15 months old now!

On another matter, I'm wearing a size 12 dress (although it's a bit tight over the boobs), but seeing as though I was wearing a 16 three months ago, I'm quite chuffed.

As for planning I have this on my fridge with meals planned out for the week

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 20/01/2014 09:30

Ok let's stop with the tasties! Now I'm wanting a kitkat peanut chunky even though I hate peanut butter!! I was about to walk to tescos but baby has decided he needs more boob so gives me a chance to do a proper list!

trainersandcake · 20/01/2014 11:02

Kosher a 16 to a 12 is great progress! Well done!

I am a bridesmaid in August and the bride has already started her wedding diet, which is currently giving me a boost as she is probably at my goal weight already and I don't want to look like a hippo in a tutu next to her in my bridesmaid dress!

I will already be the shortest one of the three bridesmaids there so my aim is just to not look like a barn door!

I very angelically weighed out my 30 grams of porridge into five food bags last night which I have brought into work - as Time said above, I'm also finding that the planning is key. It kind of stops me always thinking about the next meal as I already know what I'm having so don't have to obsess. I read an article about 'secrets of thin people' (or something) and one of the tricks was that they tend to eat a similar range of foods and meal-plan in advance, so it means they are less likely to give in to cravings for 'Oooh I could murder a chippy tea' or whatever if they know they have a meal already prepared.
