WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Pro points, I didn't know about simple start, an doing on line mostly via app

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/01/2014 14:26

5 pounds, that's great!

2014newme · 09/01/2014 15:38

Aiming for half stone in first three weeks so to more to go.

wifeymerrick · 09/01/2014 17:58

2014newme · 09/01/2014 18:27

KosherBacon · 09/01/2014 18:50

Wifey good luck- you did great before Christmas and will be back on track in no time.

TimeToPassGo · 09/01/2014 19:08

newme that's brilliant well done :)

Wifey go for it you can do it!

TimeToPassGo · 09/01/2014 19:10

By the way I had a LOVELY dinner tonight. Chicken in Tesco Healthy Choice tikka masala sauce (v nice, quite light and fruity tasting), basmati rice, a mini naan bread and some peppers fried in spicy mango churtney with mixed salad leaves. Really delicious and on Discovery Plan it was only 9 points. Followed by a full fat Yeo Valley yoghurt. Lovely!

Going to have my skinny latte in a while too - my 'once DC in bed' treat!

fluffydressinggown · 09/01/2014 19:29

Hi can I join? I started WW this week, I have a couple of stones to lose I think. I have had great success on WW in the past so I hope it will work again. I have a holiday booked for June that I would like to be slimmer for.

I am doing it online and going to go to my first ever meeting tomorrow so I am a bit nervous. I have been doing the propoints tracking because that is what I have done before but I am going to try a Simple Start day tomorrow. Is it ok to mix the two?

beachavendrea · 10/01/2014 02:25

Two week weigh in lost two kilos. Which is my goal a kilo a week because I am breastfeeding but we've moved house this week so I've had to grab loads of food on the run.
Not looking forward to next weeks weigh in!
I didn't do the simple start as it seemed too complicated!
Silly.

Fluffy- welcome aboard. I can't see how it would harm to mix and match the days, not that the leaders would tell you that. Where is your holiday to?

Beach- hello, 2kg is great. Are you eating your extra breastfeeding points? I'm the same with simple start, even though I cook everything myself from scratch.

Welcome Fluffy :) Lots of room in here for everyone as we are ever shrinking Wink

Beach great weight loss! If you have had some scoffy days just try and have a few lower cal / point days to off set. Good for tricking your metabolism to have some high and low days.

Kosher / lady - would you mind if you get a chance giving a basic outline of Simple Start? I'm wondering if it's a bit like 'Set points' in Discovery plan - you could eat lots of the same lean protein for 4 points and lots of low fat wholemeal carbs for 5 points.

So far since Monday I have lost 6lbs! Now I admit this is due to Monday being my heavy time of the month hormonally and also I have been eating under points most days. Going to have a couple of high point days now today and tomorrow, a normal Sunday and then back to lower point days on Mon and Tues. Official weigh in is on Wed morning.

TimeToPassGo · 10/01/2014 12:16

Also - in case any of you are comfort / emotional eaters - I have just received my new Paul McKenna Emotional Eating book / CD / DVD. Will let you know if it's any use. I tried hypnosis for weight loss before and it worked - until I just stopped doing it. This new book is for people like me who just stopped because we are attached to emotional eating. Just did the little DVD 'havening' exercise and feel very relaxed and content! So another weapon in the fight on flab I hope!

fluffydressinggown · 10/01/2014 14:14

beach and time - well done for your weight loss

I went to my first meeting today, it was crazy busy! There must have been about 30/40 women there. I weighed more than I thought which has upset me a bit but I have to start somewhere.

I am having a simple start day today, it is nice not to count and weigh everything.

I weighed 9.7lbs less than last Friday today so I'm back to where I was before Christmas and 4lbs below goal. Can't believe I lost so much so quickly. It seems to be easier to lose quickly if I put it on quickly. Last night I even had steak with mushroom, brandy and cream (half fat!) I think the change in my gym workout was responsible.

I'm not doing Simple Start but I did try the recipe for Cherry and Orange Compote from the leaflet and it was delicious. Quite fancy trying the spread recipes using quark, red peppers or mushrooms and herbs.

TimeToPassGo · 11/01/2014 13:03

Morning all :)

STIDW do you have a recipe for that compote? It sounds lovely!

Beans and cheese on toast for brunch. We will have the other half of our Chinese tonight plus I will make sure I have a treat too. Another high point day here!

STIDW · 11/01/2014 18:47

Well the recipe for 2 portions of compote said stone and quarter 250g of cherries and cook them on the hob gently together with the juice and zest of an orange and 1 tsp of water until the cherries begin to soften. You then bring it to the boil and simmer for 20 min or until it looks like jam.

I had 400g of cherries and I used the juice and zest of 1 orange and no water. Couldn't be bothered with the hassle of stoning and quartering cherries so I cooked them whole for a bit longer and then removed (and sucked!) the stones when the compote cooled down.

My daughter had the compote with a pancake which she said was delicious. Sadly I didn't have enough points left for a pancake so I had it on a M&S buttermilk pike let and it was lovely.

I have always wondered if people maintain post WW weight loss as virtually everyone I know put all the weight back on afterwards.

Once I have really put my mind to it losing weight isn't really that hard , the difficult bit is maintaining my weight afterwards. I think that is true of any weight loss programme unless you eat healthily, keep your eye constantly on the ball and get straight back on the bandwagon when you fall off.

Although they don't attend every week and come in dribs and drabs there are certainly a fair number of long term gold members who keep tracking and weigh in occasionally at my WW meeting. Perhaps that is the trick.

Snakeoil · 11/01/2014 19:36

Agree--the trick is to keep going to meetings. There really is a limit to how much most of us can gain in a week. Being weighed means knowing your exact weight and eating accordingly. I've lost with WW a couple of times but maintenance is challenging.

KosherBacon · 11/01/2014 20:16

I have realised that I am always going to have to keep an eye on my weight forever. I am always going to have to go to meetings even if it's once a week.

fluffydressinggown · 11/01/2014 20:39

Yes I think that going to the meetings is the key to staying on track.

I am having a huge wobble today so worried I won't have lost any weight when I go for my next weigh in.

beachavendrea · 12/01/2014 00:45

Interesting about gaining it back. I started reading a book called woman, food and god. It was recommended to me and its basically about emotional eating. I'm about a third of the way through and so far no ephiany.
My relationship withs food and weight has always been an issue in my head although I have mostly always been a size 12. (Now I'm an 18 after baby) I'm trying very hard to accept my body the way it is, it will take some time I think.

Beach I'll let you know how the Paul McKenna emotional eating thing goes.

STIDW thanks for recipe (yum!) and feedback. I'm not going to meetings - you guys are my meeting Wink
