WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

How did I miss the size 16-12 in 3 months! Wow well done! That's bloody good going :)

I have the tandoori chicken marinading in the fridge, jelly setting, and got some steaks for tomorrow :)
I'm feeling rather saintly if I do say so myself

KosherBacon · 20/01/2014 12:06

I was at the lower end of 16 and know I am higher end of 12. It's a skater fit and flare style dress so if it was fitted it wouldn't be going anywhere near me!

I always have 40g of porridge or cereal for my breakfast. Us starve if I had 30g! I also make sure my soup have a couple of points in them as they are more filling. Today's soup is celery and blue cheese and 2pp a bowl. I normally make enough for three portions and put them straight into those microwave soup mugs so that it's quick to go in the morning.

fluffydressinggown · 20/01/2014 12:32

well done on your reducing dress size kosher

I have discovered today that WW Petit Pains are free on a healthy and filling day so I am having a lovely 'free' lunch of zero points soup and petit pain.

I have also started meal planning again so I am not tempted to buy crap when I am hungry.

KosherBacon · 20/01/2014 13:52

Fluffy- warburtons brown sandwich thins are free on filling and healthy days, as are crumpets and weight watchers wraps.

TimeToPassGo · 20/01/2014 17:09

Kosher that's a great weight loss and really motivating to know about :)

Went to the supermarket without a list and forgot to get things I need for tonight but managed to remember random things for later in the week.

Also on the bread front DH bought these little things called 'Slimbos' yesterday. Don't know who makes them but they are like a really thin seed-topped Panini and only 1.5 points on WW Discovery Plan. Recommended as they are just a very low point but tasty panini!

Chewbecca · 20/01/2014 17:48

Hello all, I re-started at WW last night, mind if I join you?

Have done WW many times over the years and always found it worked really well for me IF I stick to it. Then have tended to give up after a few months when I got comfy again and have never reached anywhere near goal.

I've been trying to follow points by myself since the new year but totally cheated every week so have succumbed to meetings again which I find keeps me on track because of the guilt factor!

I was really ?? at simple start last night though. I'd already shopped for Mon & Tues so am pointing for those days and will switch to SS on Wednesday when I next food shop / meal plan. I am concerned that I will eat too much on SS, I need portion control. But I'm going to give it a whirl.

Goodness me, that was long, sorry. Oh & I have about 3-4 stone to lose but 1 would be a good start and 2 a dream. Dress size 16 currently pushing 18

KosherBacon · 20/01/2014 19:58

Well talking of meal planning, what are you guys having this week?

For our evening meals this week we are having
Tonight- chicken pilau rice with a leftover chicken breast from yesterday's roast and brown basmati rice
Tuesday- Pasta with italian chicken sausage cooked in a tomato sauce
Wednesday- cod, spinach and whatever spuds I can be bothered to make
Thursday- pasta with brocolli and blue cheese sauce (made with laughing cow blue cheese)
Friday- steak fajitas with salsa, WW wraps and lots of peppers and onions.
I haven't worked out the weekend or lunches yet.

KosherBacon · 20/01/2014 20:01

Chew becca- welcome! I am in the same boat, WW works if I stick to it. The key is continuing once you get to goal. As for goal, I don't have a real one. I just take it each half a stone at a time.

Chewbecca · 20/01/2014 20:23

Thank you, agree, each 1/2 stone is a good goal & well done for your less so far, I would be so happy to be a 12!
Today we had chicken stir fry with noodles and tomorrow we're having ex-lean sausages with oven chips, mushrooms, toms, onions and beans.
Both meals that work on PP but not on SS.
Still studying the book to work out meals for later end of the week on SS.
Maybe a chilli one day (I prefer brown rice with chilli anyhow). Not keen on brown pasta though. Might just roast a chicken.
I have friends coming over on Thursday & we'll have nibbles so looking for creative SS suitable nibbles. Plus one guest is vegan & one has a nut allergy! Will be using my treats as wine that day!
I am thinking roasted chickpeas (with spray oil and paprika & cayenne) and some tzatziki with tortilla/wraps & veg sticks plus some 'luxury' fruit.

redvelvetcupcake · 20/01/2014 20:27

just rejoined WW for about the 65th time!!! Haven't though for about 2 years... got about 30lbs to lose...
anyone doing well??
Want to do well but leader today was awful and class very geriatric ....

redvelvetcupcake · 20/01/2014 20:32

hey just thought I should check it's ok just to join this thread?

KosherBacon · 20/01/2014 20:39

Hello Redvelvet! Of course you are welcome here! If you don't like the leader then is there another convenient class near you? The one closest to me is awful so I go to one a bit further out as I like the people there a lot more. As for doing well I've lost 16lb in eleven weeks so rather happy. There are others on here who've lost far more than me though.

fluffydressinggown · 20/01/2014 21:26

Hi redvelvet

Tonight I made a meal I often make, I fried some onions and peppers (with frylite) and then add some chicken, a tin of chopped tomatoes and vegetable stock and simmer it for 30 minutes or so. It was yummy and because I had it with brown rice it was a free meal on my filling and healthy day.

The rest of the week I am cooking:
f/h - Chicken and bacon bake (from this weeks WW booklet)
f/h - Salmon with vegetables and boiled potatoes
f/h - Pasta with creamy tomato sauce (wholewheat pasta and home made sauce - using the quark to make it creamy)
pp - pork stakes in mustard and honey sauce with mini roasted potatoes (frylite!) and veg
pp - sweet and sour turkey with noodles
pp - spaghetti bolognaise

I am not a very good cook and I don't really like spicy food, so it probably looks like a very boring menu!

TimeToPassGo · 20/01/2014 21:33

Hi Chewbacca and RedVelvet plenty of room for you - we are ever-shrinking Wink

I'm only planned for tomorrow and Wed. Tomorrow it's pasta with asparagus, mushroom and bacon sauce. Wed it's Chicken Tikka Masala. Thursday I am sorely tempted to just buy a deli roasted chicken and have it with spuds and veg! And Fri we always have a takeaway - usually Chinese, occasionally Indian - which we split and reheat on Sat for dinner.

Really tired tonight so going to have my decaff skinny latte and go to bed!

trainersandcake · 20/01/2014 22:27

Weighed in tonight - lost three pounds! So now 10st 1 - soooo close to the nines and quite proud of myself! First started waaay back at 11st 6 but just began WW this year at 10st 7 so I'm a hair's breadth away from a half stone lost in 2014.

Will update tomorrow with my menus for the week.

Welcome RedVelvet!

TimeToPassGo · 20/01/2014 22:58

:o

KosherBacon · 21/01/2014 06:28

Great weight loss Trainers, high five!

redvelvetcupcake · 21/01/2014 06:29

Ahh thanks for the welcome!!! I will see if there is another class I prefer... I want to stay for class but it was actually demotivating, with so many members moaning they hadn't lost or had put on! That's why I looked here for inspiration! I am going to try and follow Simple start... have read it! So that's a good start.....
Certainly changed from last time I went.
Hoping to have a good start, you lot are certainly doing fabulously

redvelvetcupcake · 21/01/2014 06:31

PS Sorry to sound daft but new to posting... how do you include someones name in the message??

trainersandcake · 21/01/2014 10:44

You just put an asterisk on either side of their name RedVelvet!

OK so my meals for the week are:

Tonight: Quinoa, roasted tomato and avocado salad
Wednesday: Veggie shepherd's pie
Thursday: Thai soup
Friday: Vegetable lasagne
Saturday: Hot halloumi salad with roasted peppers
Sunday: Probably a roast (roast chicken for everyone else, but veggie sausages for me)

I am trying to intersperse carby nights like lasagne with lighter nights like salad and soup so my OH is kept happy too as he loves eating. But I just bolster his soup portions with French bread and he is content. If anyone wants any recipes let me know, I am sad and have been working out PP meals for myself!

TimeToPassGo · 21/01/2014 11:43

Sounds lovely trainers but DH would be Shock Shock Shock if I tried to srrve him veggie fare Hmm

fluffy would you mind posting the chicken and bacon bake recipe if you get a chance? Sounds interesting!

trainersandcake · 21/01/2014 12:43

Time my DH does get VERY Shock Shock Shock if there are more than two days on the run of vegetarian stuff! We get around it by, for example, last night when I had veggie sausage hash, he ate the same but with pork sausages. And when I have halloumi salad he will probably have chorizo with it.

He REALLY doesn't agree with vegetarianism, but frankly it's tough tits for him as it's my own choice and I don't force him to eat anything or really even mention it.

RedVelvet I would definitely try to find a different class - I used to do Sllimming World but the classes were SO boring and repetitive that I had to stop going for my sanity - loads of people saying they'd massively overeaten but not wanting to do anything about it, week after week after week. There was a real cluster of negativity in that group (tho some v nice people). But I LOVE my Weight Watchers class now, the guy who runs it is a scream!

fluffydressinggown · 21/01/2014 15:22

Well I am an idiot and weighed myself this afternoon at home and it showing that I am 1 pound heavier. Hopefully it is because they are different scales and the WW meeting scales will show some weight loss.

Here is the recipe for the chicken and bacon bake. It serves 4 so I will probably make it and then freeze half.
1kg celeriac peeled and chopped
750g boneless skinless chicken
450 leeks finely sliced
8 rashers of trimmed bacon medallions
400g quark
150 peas
pinch of nutmeg
2tbsp of parsley

1.Preheat the oven and simmer the celeriac in a pan of boiling water for 25 mins

  1. Cook the chicken in a pan with a spray of low-cal oil when it is cooked remove from the pan and put to one side
  2. Add the leeks to the pan with a splash of water
  3. Put the chicken back in the pan and add the bacon. Then stir in the peas and quark.
  4. Put the mix into a overproof dish. Drain and mash the celeriac with the nutmeg and parsley and spread it over the mix and then bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes.

I am going to use mashed potato instead of celeriac when I make it.

fluffydressinggown · 21/01/2014 17:16

Well the scales at WW won't find me any thinner because I just pigletted on some Christmas cake. I am still within my points allowance for the day but it seems unlikely that I can use up that many points on crap and not put on weight. I need to be less greedy!

Chewbecca · 21/01/2014 17:26

fluffy the point if PP is that you can eat what you want and still lose if you're within your points so don't beat yourself up! until you go over

I had a good day at work today & am only on 7 points so far, had a tuna & egg salad from Pret for lunch (5pp including some dressing) some fruit (banana & clementines) & a bag of walkers French fries (2).

Tomorrow I am shopping to switch to SS, have eggs, crumpets, chicken, chickpeas & lots of fruit & veg on the menu. It looks like the key to SS is v low fat.
