WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Yes I do get extra points because I'm breastfeeding, I'm on about 37 points I'm not sure it's easier though because you can kind of sneak a few treats and still stay in points, gives a false confidence.
But I decided last night to cut out all processed white sugars for a while, I'm a total sugar addict so hopefully this helps.

One annoying thing about WW meetings is that you have to reach the weight they say is maximum healthy weight and not the weight you want to get to yourself. So for example I would be happy to get to and maintain a weight of 12 stone. I feel and look good at this weight plus I can still eat some treats! Smile But because my BMI at this weight is around 26-27 I would still have to pay forever more rather than becoming a gold member. So the meetings thing won't be any good for me.

Cleanthatroomnow · 12/01/2014 16:11

time what weight do WW say you should be? Just curious. My gold weight set by WW is actually a bit higher than I would like. Once I hit gold, because you can gain up to 5lbs on top, I tend to get stuck at the very top end of what I "should" weigh. IYKWIM. Don't have to pay for meetings, though, which is nice.

scully81 · 12/01/2014 16:33

I rejoined WW last Friday after a year off dieting - eek! I've got so much to lose - baby weight, cake weight, general weight - but I really do need to get my arse in gear this time round. Little one is 14 months and I need to get fit and thinner so I can race around with him!
Not really impressed with the simple start so I've just been doing propoints which I've been finding quite good over the last few days. Even struggling to use all my points up! I've even been to three childrens parties and managed to avoid the party food!! Good luck to all you other ladies on your WW journey xx

TimeToPassGo · 12/01/2014 20:24

Clean they base it on BMI and I think my BMI at 25 is about 11 stone. So a full stone heavier = bad by their standards but by my current weight is much slimmer and healthier, plus would allow me to 5:2 / have high and low points days so I can eat the food I like at the weekend.

Scully good luck :)

beachavendrea · 13/01/2014 00:23

Avoiding party food. Amazing!

Weekend extended a bit longer than planned Blush McDonald's for lunch. Diet suicide. Still, healthy breakfast and planning healthy dinner. Tomorrow I will have to eat very lightly indeed!

scully81 · 13/01/2014 22:46

My husband has just produced a large bar of chocolate that was pushed under the sofa (my toddler pushes everything under there!) and the bastard has gone and opened it arghhh!! I've had a small bit. I hope he takes it to work with him tomorrow otherwise I can't be trusted!!

KosherBacon · 14/01/2014 09:26

I've even doing ok so far this week. Had friends for Sunday lunch but made poached pears for pudding to reduce the points load.

I'm hoping for a good weight loss this week. It took me ten weeks to lose my first stone and I'm hoping that I've lost another by the start of April. When I've lost 2 stone I'm going to book myself a house of colours style day. I odd my colours last October so want to do my style day too and it's my reward to myself.

TimeToPassGo · 14/01/2014 12:38

Kosher good idea about the style booking thing :) I have set some rewards: a massage for 7lbs, a spa day for 1 stone and a night away for 21lbs. They are 'big' rewards but they need to be, to make me not just 'reward' myself with chocolate!

Low point day today to counteract my long weekend of munching!

fluffydressinggown · 14/01/2014 13:49

I am still trying to eat healthily but it is hard! I have been doing some simple and healthy days which has helped with feeling hungry.

time I am craving a McDonalds at the moment, I am jealous you had one!

TimeToPassGo · 14/01/2014 15:19

Fluffy tbh afterwards I thought 'You know, I could have had a nice Quorn burger with cheese and pickles etc for a fraction of the points and enjoyed it just as much!'

KosherBacon · 14/01/2014 16:06

I had a cheeky Mcdonald! I cured my craving with a cheeseburger, but left half the bread. A burger bun is 4pp, and the cheeseburger was 8pp so I stuck 6pp in the tracker

TimeToPassGo · 14/01/2014 16:11

You see Kosher you did it right whereas I got a quarter pounder with cheese plus fries at approximately 10 gazillion points Wink

trainersandcake · 14/01/2014 17:13

Ooh I'd love to join in! Had my first weigh-in this week and I lost 3.5lbs which I'm quite happy with - on Simple Start (until the weekend when it went a bit pear-shaped!).

Am now 10st 4 and aiming for 8st 7 - I'm 5'3.

TimeToPassGo · 14/01/2014 19:46

Hi trainers Smile well done on your weight loss. There seems to be a wave of McDonald's munching going on at the minute. Just avoid it and you'll be fineWink

Lovely dinner - my pasta treat with salad. Still have my skinny latte to look forward to as well.

beachavendrea · 15/01/2014 02:40

I weighed myself on Tuesday and was 86 kilos feeling pretty happy with myself so I weighed myself again today and I was 88! Argh the frustration and I just don't understand I've been under my points since Monday. Official weigh in day is tomorrow. This is going to be a long slow process! Haven't had any sugar (apart from fruit) since Monday and its been a very long three days.

Beach- try not to weigh yourself day to day and stick to once a week at the same time of the day. Your body weight does fluctuate naturally. Don't be disheartened. Also if you are on the PP plan try make sure you use all your points. Dependent on your height you might be on 27/28 a day with the floating 49. You don't have to use the 49 but do try eat your daily points. I find that of I go too low calorie my weight loss slows down as my metabolism goes nuts. If I stick at my points I get a better weight loss. I personally use about half my weekly allowance too but don't stress if I have weeks when I use all of them.

TimeToPassGo · 15/01/2014 12:15

Well my first official weigh in after 9 days and I have lost 7lbs! Grin very pleased as I ate normally over the weekend - if anything more than normal. I know it is the first week loss but a nice boost.

TimeToPassGo · 15/01/2014 12:21

Beach I agree with what Kosher said. Over the last week my weight has been up and down over a 4lb window. Yesterday it was at the high end. Just pick one morning pre-food and stick to it. Also be aware of your menstrual cycle. I have a head start because my start weight was at my heaviest time of the month (for me mid cycle around ovulation, for others just before their period). See it as a gradual decline.

I am doing a 5:2 type version or what was called WW Wendy Plan unofficially. It's around on the Internet but it's basically about having some high and some low point days because it tricks your metabolism into ramping up and not letting your body get used to having the exact same calories every day.

trainersandcake · 15/01/2014 12:32

Thanks for my welcome Time!

I felt a bit sheepish about explaining to my DH that I had started at WW but he was actually very nice - told me I didn't need it (which isn't true) etc but that he was glad if it made me feel better.

www.weightwatchers.com/food/rcp/RecipePage.aspx?recipeid=441391

I made this last night and substituted some of the beans and the sweetcorn for Quorn mince (only because I only had one can of kidney beans) - it was genuinely, really delicious! Had some friends around and they all said how nice it was without realising it was a Weight Watchers recipe!

Any other vegetarians slightly struggling with getting protein not from cheese on WW? Have upped my bean, Quorn and chickpea intake but all ideas are gratefully received!

TimeToPassGo · 15/01/2014 12:46

Trainers you could eat eggs if you have them and also low fat dairy, nuts are good too but they are very high on WW unfortunately certainly on the old version that I do. Maybe use them on high points days? And peanut or other nut butters? I think people tend to overestimate how much protein we actually need. When I tried My Fitness Pal I only needed about 50-55g of protein a day. Two eggs and a chicken breast pushed me well over that!

fluffydressinggown · 15/01/2014 13:44

That is a great weight loss time

I am getting more and more worried that I won't have lost anything. I have stayed within my points every day but worried it is not working!

TimeToPassGo · 15/01/2014 14:46

Thanks Fluffy :) How many weeks have you been doing WW now? If you stay within points you WILL lose weight, as long as you are brutally honest about tracking BUT it is really helpful to have some low and some high point days, rather than having every day the same. As said above if you google WW Wendy Plan it explains how a lot of people find this helpful. Having the ProPoints bonus allowance was a recognition of this (I am still doing DP which at that point didn't have bonus points).

So instead of thinking (on old WW) 'I have 20 points a day' it is much better to think 'I have 140 points a week'. So one day you have 15 points, the next 20, the next 30, the next 17 etc. Really important top have one or two very high point days (at least 10 over was recommended on the old WW Wendy Plan). If you are doing PP it just means use up lots of bonus points on a couple of days, rather than having the same number every day - unless you are losing that way.

My points diary for the last 9 days was: 19.5, 18.5, 16, 21.5, 28.5, 30, 38 (this was bad!!!), 30, 14.5. Fri and Sat were planned high days, Sun and Mon weren't! I got away with it this week as first week losing but felt pretty crap and sluggish.

TimeToPassGo · 15/01/2014 14:49

Sorry Fluffy just saw you only started. Relax! Also I have about 3 stone to lose (although aiming for 1.5) so lots coming off me at the start. Be aware also of you TOTM. When I did WW years ago and went to meetings I HATED my mid-cycle WI because it was always when I was heaviest and my stomach bloated, no matter what I ate. Always had a good loss the following week. We're all different and you get to know your own body rhythms.
