Morning all.
New thread for weigh in Friday.
Old one taking forever to load.

Was SO bad last night. Fancied a glass of Rose wine so bought a nice bottle thinking DH would have it with me. He didn't. I had it all. Whole bottle. Dinner was actually fine - steak, a sausage, salad and a piece of halloumi. But then I had a mini magnum. And then drunken hunger kicked in when DH and DS had gone to bed. Had a packet crisps. A cheese sandwich . And another sodding magnum .

However. The good news is that I weighed and still managed to lose. Only a pound but at least i lost.

Helloooo - hello everyone

Yay Tibni! You are now a Sex Object!

dinky - don't despair - weigh tomorrow as well - it could just be an anomaly. Don't start doing drastic things to your diet short-term, as you're more likely to get EVEN MORE pissed off that they didn't effect a magic cure, and the yo-yoing will put you out of sorts and may make you lose motivation, if that makes sense? Just one zoney day at a time - don't be a hero!

Agree that hangovers make it VERY hard the next day, added to the empty calories of drinking itself. I'm half tempted to pretend I'm a recovering alcoholic at forthcoming events so people won't be so insistent that I join them 'for just one or two'.

dinkystinky · 07/07/2010 16:15

Thanks Undertone - you speak good sense. Will listen to you and avoid pure protein diet.

Quality · 07/07/2010 20:47

Oh under, I am going to try and pure protein for a few days to kick my naughty carb habit that has started up again. Mum had the dukan book and was reading up on that so am going to try it his way for a few days. I fear now I have lost a lot then I am slipping back, need to kick off the next 2 stone

BudaisintheZONE · 08/07/2010 07:55

Hi all. This thread is very quiet these days. Remember when we used to struggle to keep up??

Dinky/Quality - agree with Undertone. I find that the weight gain from a few days indulging tends to come off quickly. I wonder if the crap we eat causes us to bloat up and then the sensible eating gets rid of the fluid quickly?

Quality - BIL is doing Dukan and lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I almost read the book but didn't want to get confused. He was also eating lots of Muller Light yoghurts and I really don't want to go down the road of low-fat foods. I do low fat milk and Philadephia but am avoiding anything with sweeteners and chemicals where possible.

Tibni - yay to the blokes in the lorry!!

Undertone · 08/07/2010 09:39

I know! Where has everyone gone? I guess everyone lost loads of weight and now they're off pranching about in swishy skirts because they don't need us any more. [harrrumph emoticon]

HAd night off from Shred last night as was in so much pain in my quads. Compensated by having a super low-calorie day yesterday. I've been very zoney for a good solid 5 days since my last minor transgression with a packet of crisps and some booze, so I'm a bit puzzled why the scales say I've gained 0.6 of a pound!

Maybe I too need to switch to pure protein... but in the past when I've lost weight on Atkins I have put it on again quickly afterwards... I'm doing my big online shop today. Maybe I should just go for it?

Back with the Shred tonight.

BudaisintheZONE · 08/07/2010 09:41

What are you actually eating Undertone? You may just not be eating enough. I would suggest really looking at what you are eating before going pure protein. You are right - it will just go back on afterwards.

OP posts:
Undertone · 08/07/2010 09:57

Same old same old re: diet:

brekkie - 196 calories of weetabix with 140 calories skimmed milk. Sometimes 1/2 teaspoon sugar for a treat

lunch - 180 calories (150g) of lean chicken (or calorie equivalent of beef, for the iron) with 1 tomato, salad leaves and 100 calories of cottage cheese (this has balsamic vinegar and sometimes chutney with it - so with the tomato and cottage cheese this isn't really low-carb), + big apple

dinner - A combination of protein (packet of prawns, or turkey breast, or lean beef, or lean chicken, or baked salmon fillet) and veg (whole bunch of asparagus, or huge pile of broccoli, or whole bag o' salad with tomatoes) with more cottage cheese and vinegar dressing. I haven't worked out exact calorie contents of dinner stuff because it varies so much. Rarely over 400-500 calories

pudding - 2 squares dark choc.

Drinks - 1+ litres sparking water in evening, 5 glasses water at work, with 2 cans diet coke throughout day. Sometimes a cup of tea or two.

All totted up, this means I'm on roughly 1400 calories/day. Transgressions usually happen once or twice a fortnight - usually to do with drinking.

COuld do with your take, Buda!

BudaisintheZONE · 08/07/2010 10:20

Well I am no expert but it looks ok. Only thing I would say is that you may just need to shake it all up a bit. Protein with breakfast. Cut the diet coke.

It seems quite regimented to me. I can't do that. End up obsessed with food. Maybe try for more variety?

OP posts:
Undertone · 08/07/2010 11:49

I'm not sure I can do without diet coke, but you're right - there's so much being said about how bad aspartame is for mood swings, appetite stimulation, not to mention bloating and teeth damage. Maybe if I switch to more sparkling water my 'fizzy' button will still be pushed in the day?

Hmm. I find I'm an 'absent-minded eater' and if I don't stick to a plan, I tend to wildly under-estimate the amount I eat, and give in to snacking. Luckily work keeps me super-busy between meals, and I quite enjoy what I'm eating on this plan - but I get what you mean. Maybe on a subconscious level I'm just sick of it?

I'll eat ANYTHING for breakfast (I eat it at my desk at work when I get in) so maybe I could bring some cold meats in to munch instead of the cereal, and eat a sandwich at lunch or something? Or maybe I should just get up early and have scrambled eggs on wholegrain at home? (I hate getting up early).

Thanks - sorry - it's such a relief to be able to come on here and discuss.

dinkystinky · 08/07/2010 13:09

Hey undertone - looks like a good diet to me but see if you can ditch the diet coke and the sparkling water (can cause bloating and water retention) - or just cut down to one of those a day and you may see a difference.

Top tip for achy muscles - warm bath, good stretch afterwards and 2 ibuprofen. The shred dvd isnt that good for stretches I find so do some extra stretches on your own after she's stretched you down and will help with the aches too.

If you do have an achy post shred day, try doing something to stretch those muscles out - long slow walk or pilates/yoga are good ones to try.

Quality · 08/07/2010 13:12

Under,t hat looks fine to me, that's what I have been eating which is why I want to shake things up as Buda said, by changing it for a few days, just to get my brain out of sneaking that bread/potato/pasta as a 'one off' I found the last few weeks I have been sneaking more 'bad' foods and I just need a few days of 'restricted' foods to curb the cravings again, does that make sense? I agree with the l/f thing though, I have big pot of lf yoghurt but that's only cos it's half the rpice of ff

I have not been good exercise wise, whiel at my mums I ran twice and did some pilates dvd stuff in the garden (very med weather, was lovely) but am going to do billy blanks full workout tonight after girls go to bed and before dh gets home, so that should be a fricking nightmare fun.

The one thing I didn't like on the dukan thing was his insistence that aspartame is absolutely fine, no problem, hoof it down. He adds it to recipes ffs, eugh. I find sainsbury squash (no aspartame) and fizzy water fills the sparkly drink void quite well though.

oatbran and yoghurt for brek, that was fucking grim, scrambled eggs and snoked mackerel for lunch, tea is probably going to be turkey mince burgers for me and the girls and they can have mccains smileys with them as I think they are yucky

Undertone · 08/07/2010 13:58

Right guys - I changed my shopping order. I've REMOVED the diet coke and fizzy water completely, added some bottled still water (my London tap water tastes like chlorine - fine in a rush but not for sipping in evening as a treat, as I was doing with the fizzy water) and also some Sainsbo's no-added-sugar high-juice squash, in case I do need a sweet fix.

You have total power over me and my shopping habits!

Quality · 08/07/2010 14:03

buy me a new pair of shoes

a neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew paaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrr of shoooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

BudaisintheZONE · 08/07/2010 15:37

LOL at Quality!!!

Well done Undertone! You could add a couple of limes or lemons to chop up and add to your water with ice. Feels like a nice drink then.

OP posts:
Undertone · 08/07/2010 15:47

I... must... buy... shoes...

How about these?

Limes/lemons also good idea (getting into this), maybe some ice as well!

Quality · 08/07/2010 15:54

buy me a neeeeeeeeeeeewwww laptooooooooooooooooooooopppppppppp

BudaisintheZONE · 08/07/2010 15:55

OMG I LOVE those shoes! Not for me obviously but they will be hideous lovely on Quality.

OP posts:
Undertone · 08/07/2010 16:05

Quality - I have found you a laptop

BudaisintheZONE · 08/07/2010 16:12

I think she has that one already Undertone.

OP posts:
Quality · 08/07/2010 16:16

Fuck me, that's vile

tibni · 08/07/2010 16:39

at the laptop - makes the shoes seem ok in balance!

undertone that looks a very good menu - not sure I would be able to be that "good" for any length of time.

Your post made me glance at the back of the box of oatcakes I was preparing for lunch. I used to buy the fine ones but they didn't have any last time so I grabbed the rough - they are double the calories! Maybe the 6 I have been eating for lunch needs reducing.

5th trip of the week to the gym today. Tomorrow I go to meet dd tutor at High School so I doubt I will get chance to do much. Saturday is always too busy with dcs for gym. Next week I have a meeting Monday then an Interview Tuesday already planned so I will have to make sure I fit the gym in.

CheeeseOnToast · 08/07/2010 16:43

Hello everyone

I have been AWOL from this thread, but I have been lurking, just not posting. feeling ok, ticking over, work is getting busier and DP is VERY busy with a new business venture so I am doing all the cooking and cleaning [slave emoticon] so generally feeling a bit meh at the moment.

Not been to the gym for a week either. But, ladies, I've had an invite for drinks and chinese tonight but I have turned it down in favour of gym. Plus I have absolutely no money, but before I would have just thought 'sod it' and gone. But now I will go to the gym and get home nd cook something healthy ish.

Had a good lunch out with work, chilli grilled chicken from Leon (their home made 'slaw', grilled chicken breast and brown rice - 440 cals according to their website)

Oh yes Undertone I'd kick the coke, your shopping order sounds good now! I second Buda's suggestion to add in sliced lime/lemon to fizzy water+squash, feels like somethign more luxurios than it is.

i'm not sure if the weigh in tomorrow bodes well, but my body feels a lot better. The jeans have spoken, and they say good things! Have been wearing a skirt this week, above the knee, and feeling good.

Hope everyone else is well!

BudaisintheZONE · 09/07/2010 06:06

Goooooood mmmooooorrrrnnniiinnnnggg!!!!!

Hi Cheeese! Nice to see you. Sorry life is so busy.

Well weighed in and am back down by a kilo since Tuesday. Before I went to Dublin I was 97.9 kg (15 st 5.5 lbs), on Tuesday I was 99.2 kg (15 st 8) and this morning I am 98.2 or 15 st 6. So not too bad considering the badness in Dublin.

Having friends over for BBQ this evening. Have made my first ever Pavlova - eek. Was always scared of making one for some reason. Will be having scrambled eggs for breakfast today as messed up on separating a few of the eggs!

Also going to friends for BBQ on Sunday. But will be super good tomorrow and next week to make up for it.

Have a week before we go to UK to 'camp out' in our new house for 3 weeks. I say 'camp out' - I ordered beds from John Lewis on Tuesday!!! Previous owners (and neighbours as they built their new house in part of the garden) have left us a table and chairs and a sofa. DH's accountancy head thinking was that spending 1K on kitting the house out to be able to stay in was much cheaper than a hotel or cottage and we can stay again obv if we need to come back to sort building works. Very excited!

OP posts:
CheeeseOnToast · 09/07/2010 08:15

Oooh Buda your house camping sounds great! Whereabouts in the UK is it?

Weigh in this morning was 9stone2, so a shade off from last weigh in. I'm happy with that. It's not exactly fast, but I'm changing habits slowly, so it lasts, rather than going crazy and then putting it all back on. That's what I'm telling myself anyway

I've started a thread about waxing, "hot" vs "strip", if any of you ladies have a recommendation either way it would be good to get some more feedback

Quality, well done on refusing custard brioche, that really is some willpower.

I flaked out last night, I did the gym but i was SO tired when I got home I literally laid on the sofa for 50 minutes. Offered DP salad for dinner but he turned his nose up and went and got pizza, so I had a slice of pizza (one slice) - thin base with mozarella and oregano, I picked off the processed meat - and a plate full of salad, glass of red wine while we watched a 'history of venice' DVD by way of research for our trip to Italy next year!

Happy Friday everyone!!
