can I join in please?

It was reading this thread that inspired me to buy the dvd when I saw it in morrisons for £6, twas a bargain.

I am fairly fit but have always had a problem with my post baby belly and my youngest is 9 years old!

Well this dvd has achieved more than any other single thing that I have done and that includes the personal trainer!

I had to today off but will be back at it tomorrow, I find that if I run before the dvd I get even better results, anyone else doing other things in conjunction with the dvd?

I only use 1kg weights, god I am such a weed

justaminute · 21/06/2010 20:27

Thanks for the nice new thread Tortoise, it's good to see lots of new converts to the cult and those that have graduated doing it again.

Today the thread has inspired me to up the weights. I have the same set as Trumpton and was using the 1.5kg set. Tonight I braved the 2.5kg ones for a few of the sets on Level 2. it wasn't actually that bad. No doubt I'll regret that statement in the morning when I can't lift my coffee cup.

Which reminds me...yesterday I stupidly decided to do the Shred first thing, before my morning cuppa, I felt so sick and weak I had to stop after 10 minutes. I'm definitely not a morning person.

LetThemEatCake · 21/06/2010 21:25

quick question: Level 2 circuit 3, those plank twist things. They're meant to be killer, from what she says. I find them fine (plank jacks on the other hand .. bloody hell) so ... might I be doing them wrong?? any suggestions??

Tortoise · 21/06/2010 22:14

Day 3 done. Sweat was pouring down my face by the end lol!

OP posts:
LostGirl · 21/06/2010 22:37

LTEC, make sure you are doing them in a good plank position so that your body is in a straight line and your not sticking your bum way up in the air! If you are already doing that and finding them easy then I am

trumpton · 21/06/2010 22:41

I find the plank twists better do do with elbows on floor, seem to keep a better pilates plank and hold abs in better. I do agree they are not as fierce as they sound.

Joby1970 · 22/06/2010 08:08

LTEC - _ I wouldn't worry I have no problem with the Plank Twists either. Perhaps we should just be pleased we can do some of the exercises well!

Skimummy · 22/06/2010 09:42

I am definitely back on the Shred train too! I am mixing it up though so Level 3 yesterday and Level 1 today. I just really didn't feel like doing 10 days blocks again. I am using weights during the cardio on Level 1 to make it a little more challenging. That said, my weights are 2kg - I am a weakling!! I did start on 0.5kg and 1kg but haven't used them for ages.

LTEC I find the plank twists fine as well but can feel it more if I really concentrate on getting in a perfect plank position.

I still haven't measured...I think I might find it too disappointing if I don't see good results...

Day 4 done . Hoping one day this will get a bit easier lol!

OP posts:
jooseyfruit · 22/06/2010 22:51

hi, can I join?
I'm on day 8 of level 2. I love it, and am noticing results, I think!
Am determined to nail circuit 3, strength, on level 2. Those chair squats with V raise using hand weights are a killer.
I feel like my abs are tighter, although they are hidden beneath a couple of inches of flab.
I had put on weight at last weigh in, I hope it's muscle!

I want to look like Natalie.

notyummy · 22/06/2010 22:53

The chair squats/v raise things are a killer, I agree.

My Dh shreds (although obviously with big heavy manly weights...!) and finds that one hard too.

jooseyfruit · 22/06/2010 23:54

don't know whether to move on to level 3 tomorrow, as I feel ready to move on, but really want to be able to do those chair squat with v raise (ie raise the weights to somewhere near eye level!)
I like the idea of mixing up the levels but increasing hand weights

Joby1970 · 23/06/2010 08:17

jooseyfruit - move on & try the other exercises - trust me Level 2 & the Chair Squat with V Raise will always be there waiting for you to go back & do again. lol

jooseyfruit · 23/06/2010 09:31

thanks Joby!

have just done level 3. for the first time. It's amazing, and I am still trembling!

Had to do a lot of the beginners moves, esp the sit ups and travelling push ups.

I will have a tight ass like Natalie.

Squidmission · 23/06/2010 11:21

Lol Joosey. That Natalie does have a figure to be envied!

I joined ww this morning to help my abs and toned muscles start showing through
Need to get rid of the flab now.

Skimummy · 23/06/2010 11:37

I always think Jillian is being a bit sarcastic when she says you could have a body like Natalie's in no time! Nice idea though.

Did Level 2 this morning and agree on the squat with v raises - still hard! I always feel like a fool doing the ice skater as well.

Good work on Level 3 jooseyfruit I found it really hard at first and then came to enjoy it (took about 8 days though!).

jooseyfruit · 23/06/2010 13:07

I think Jillian fancies Natalie tbh, she pays her a lot of attention!

Why not ruby?

Naetha · 23/06/2010 21:09

Tbh I think the cameraman fancies natalie as well - always seems to focus on her rather sweaty boobs...or maybe that's just me

Day 9 of level 2 - still can't do a minute of chair squats with V-raises, but tbh I'm glad I've been able to do any shredding in this heat (the only time I can really do it is between 2 and 4 on an afternoon - scorching!).

I measured myself today, just to see how I was getting on, and so far lost an inch off each thigh and half an inch off my calves and arms. Nothing off my tummy, but it will come! Weight still coming off, so all good

I was losing heart a little bit as the weight loss seemed to have really slowed after the first two weeks, but I think that may be due to the fact I'm building a fair amount of muscle as I have muscles appearing I never even knew about! Still on target to lose another 5kg by September

jooseyfruit · 23/06/2010 21:18

Natalie does have fantastic boobs though Naetha!

congratulations on the weight loss and general buff-ness.

These are really the most noticable results I've ever got from a workout DVD, even ds1 (13yo) said 'Mum you just look smaller'

LetThemEatCake · 23/06/2010 22:05

I don't want a body like Natalies - too big!!!

and yes, I think that J fancies her - said so on the last thread

That moment in level 2 where J is talking about maximum calorie burning and asks her "what do we want Natalie" and N just looks like a pretty rabbit on the headlights is soooo excruciating!!!!
