New thread before old one is full.

Hi-marking my place as have just ordered the DVD so will be joining you as soon as it arrives! Fabulous stories, i have read through the other post!

notyummy · 23/06/2010 22:23

I suppose I am more Anita on top and Natalie (although a bit more wobbly!)on my bottom half.

Skimummy · 24/06/2010 09:10

LTEC wait until Level 3 when Jillian talks about Natalie's butt and says "that's hot right?" Hmmmmmm. Poor Anita is left out in the cold.

Natalie's body is not my ideal although I wouldn't complain if that is how I turned out. I think Anita is more realistic for me as she is a pear as well. She is very skinny though and can't see my stomach ever looking like hers!

Level 3 this morning. The arm and leg raises with weights still kill me. I have figured out I have two cycles of the Shred to get through before my summer holiday...here's hoping I can keep it up!

I think I really need to start running a couple of times a week as well. How does everyone fit this in (i.e. straight after or later in the day)?

notyummy · 24/06/2010 09:38

Skimummy - if I do cardio as well, I do it straight after, or on a seperate day (am not doing the everyday shred thing - using it as more a maintenance fitness DVD IFYSWIM.) I sometimes do a 20 minutes shred and then 25 minute run (or crosstrainer if no childcare help) or I do 2 shreds back to back if I did a pure cardio session the previous day and want to concentrate on the circuit training aspect. I run between 4 and 8 miles a few times a week.

blossoming · 24/06/2010 11:01

Hi everyone. Can I join?
(Waves to notyummy and everythingiseverything.

I was just commenting last night how my pelvic floor has suddenly stopped being an issue. I don't understand how this has happened.
On the first few days of level one, I had to stop the dvd and go to the loo. (I know this is forbidden, but, hey.)
Now I'm on day 17 and on level 2, I find that it's not a problem at all. I mean, why has no-one said that jumping up and down can strengthen the pelvic floor? I only ever heard about those squeezing exercises before.

I'm obviously very pleased at this development, as is my dh on newly toned bum.

I am intending to wear bikinis this summer (6 weeks to go), two months before my 40th, with my 3rd child 10 months old.

BTW I use 1.5kg weights, and find them plenty heavy enough. of notyummy's capacity!

Day 5 WO 1 (2nd time). Half way through WO 1! Not looking forward to WO 2 again. Struggled tonight but am generally feeling down so wasn't really into it.

OK, I have the video now and I really need to give it a go. If I say this out loud then a) will motivate me and b) I will see this statement at the top of Threads I'm On and I will be shamed into getting off the laptop and in front of the telly.

Slightly scared after all your wobbly kneed horror stories though - I am really quite unfit - only my inability to drive without crashing saves me from total inactivity.

The first day is probably the worst - I remember having jelly legs afterwards, but I'm absolutely fine now - today will be my first day of level 3 - eek!

My size 14s are a bit baggy as well - I might have to invest in some size 12 jeans soon! Amazing to think I was size 18 6 months ago

Wow Naetha that is brilliant! Good luck on Level 3. You will come to love it...eventually...

I did level 1 this morning. I really didn't want to get out of bed so my motivation was not great but pushed on. I have now discovered that the guilt of not doing it is worse than forcing myself to do it. I guess that is a good thing!

everything agree Anita gets alot of attention in Level 1. They must have fallen out after filming that one !

Day 1, Level 1. Sweating alot, arms hurt, but feeeeeeeel great.

Did everything except full on press ups..did cheaty ones....can never do these..ever...will it get to a point where I can? Do I have to stay level 1 until I can do them properly??

trumpton · 25/06/2010 12:46

I still find push-ups really hard and can only do a few before doing the easy version and I am 2nd time round the shred. So I would say NO don't stay on level one until you can do press-ups or you will never get off it. I reckon 10 days each level is about right and concentrate on technique it's well worth it.

For anyone who is just starting .I kept a log for firdt 3 weeks . I managed the whole 30 days without taking a day off . I know we are all different but this seemed to ring a lot of bells for those on the last Shred-Thread. ...

Did not measure myself before I started but wish I had....However measured my self after a week and again a week after and in that week lost 1/2 inch top of arms, nowt off bust 1 inch from waist, 1inch from hips and 1/2 inch from each thigh.
My diary that I am keeping every day reads like this...
Day 1 level 1 Hard but do-able 2kg weights
Day 2 Pecs a bit sore but managed
Day 3 Hurts to cough .pecs better
Day 4 VERY hard gosh!
Day 5 Really hard to keep up .Feel good.
Day 6 Did harder version
Day 7 Full strength workout
Day 8 Level 2 Easy version 1.5 kg weights (new weights arrived)
Day 9 working harder. Ow Plank jacks !!
Day 10 Really really did not want to do V.pleased.V sweaty.
Day 11 mostly 2.5kg weights Hate v lifts
Day 12 2.5 kg weights sore shoulders next day.
Day 13 Plank jacks and plank jumps hard.
Day 14 Thinking about moving up to level 3 Using dumbells as handles for plank jacks.
Day 15 Still need lighter weights for V lifts
Day 16 Started Antibios for UTI.Feel rough but wearing last years trousers.
Day 17 def change in shape Measured my self ( see above)
Day 18 Still find V lifts hard Cardio MUCH easier
Day 19 Level 3 V hard. Followed Anita. Jumps are horrid feel like a frog.
Day 20 Clothes are so much looser. Rock starjumps are just plain wrong wrong wrong
TODAY Level 3 def getting easier. will do a week at this level then try level 1 and 3 back to back

Just when you cant do anymore suddenly you have reached circuit 3 and the end is in sight. Good luck

So in summing up...body much more toned, arms feel better and belly flatter. Another bonus I have found is that by doing the shred every day my food control is better. Good luck fellow shredders.

Joby1970 · 25/06/2010 13:04

Trumpton - your log def rings a bell with me - I went thro a very similar experience. Since doing the Shred I have got obssessed with how toned my arms are I now call my bicep muscles "guns" lol

justaminute · 25/06/2010 13:13

I did Level 3 again last night - I forgot how much I hate all the jumping in that level, my thighs are sore today. I was actually enjoying Level 2.

Maryqueenofchocs - I can't do a full set of push ups. On the other thread there was a post recommending that you lean against the back of the sofa. Once you are comfortable with that lean on the sofa to do a push up, then a pile of books etc progressing to hands flat on the floor. I'm getting closer to the floor but still a long way to go.

Naetha - amazing results! keep it up! I'm desperate to go on a shopping expo but I want to be a size smaller first - I live in the vain hope that any purchases would be baggy in 3 weeks

Maryqueenofchocs · 25/06/2010 13:17

I have started with 5kg weights as thats the lightest I own....no wonder the arm bits hurt like hell!

Joby1970 · 25/06/2010 13:21

Mary_ I use 2.5kg & they are heavy enough - your arms must feel like they are dropping off

Maryqueenofchocs · 25/06/2010 13:58

uuuummmm, can't wait for the morning when i will have lost the ability to use them as they're so sore..

I'm such a numpty.

LostGirl · 25/06/2010 14:03

5kg weights , that is impressive, there is no way I would have been able to do all that with 5kg when I started out.

Maryqueenofchocs, trumpton is right about how to progress with the pushups. It took me about 6 weeks to go from doing them on the back of my sofa to doing a full set military style on the floor, and have since progressed the other way and am now keeping my hands on the floor and putting my feet on the sofa when I do them.

Maryqueenofchocs · 25/06/2010 16:29

lostgirl thats fabulous..I will try trumptons way, do I stand up facing the back of the sofa and lean over it? I have visions of my doing it completely wrong!

5kg impressive or just plain dull!! I bought 5kg when I lived in the US 10yrs ago and did tae boxing 4 times a week. Oh how things have changed, I now eat Thai rather than box it and have not excerised for about a year...!

DilysPrice · 25/06/2010 17:45

I haven't done it yet - but I've bought a yoga mat from Poundland, so that's a start (doing it on bare floorboards probably not a brill idea). Will have to use cans of beans to start with - where's a good place to get cheap (light) weights?

DH is out tonight so I'm going to grit my teeth and try it for the first time - wish me luck.

Maryqueenofchocs · 25/06/2010 18:01

Dilys its fine, and quick, you'll be fine.

msboogie · 25/06/2010 18:19

can someone briefly tell me why this dvd is so good? I have all the davina dvds and an unused WII fit/personal trainer etc so don't want to waste any more money..

but I need to start exercising!
