I wouldn't have though so?? Should rev your metabolism up again! I sometimes do 2 levels back to back and it hasn't had any adverse effects....but spacing it out over the day is probably even better!

Joby1970 · 15/11/2010 16:55

REALITY - you could try it & see how it goes. I do wonder if you'd be better doing something else to target different muscles?

I've done 4 days on level 1 now and not hurting so much. I'm going to move up to my heaviest weights and try doing pressups on the stairs as recommended in earlier posts, (completely hopeless at press-ups, always have been), and try to do level 2 by end of the week. DH bless him is not stupid enough to pressure me to get off my lazy arse and do some exercise, so I'm relying on MN and my workmates to apply external pressure - I've also told them to give me grief if they see me using the lift.

Level 2 is hard - well done!

The good thing about this programme is that if you are finding it relatively easy then you can just slightly up the weights - perhaps that is the next challenge Reality? What are you using at the moment?

Ah - but you're SUPPOSED to feel like you want to die Grin

Perhaps go up to 3kg? I use that for all but the v squats with arm raise - I just cannot manage all of them with 3kg. There is an exercise on level 3 that I use 5 kg on, because that particular exercise is easier for me than all the other ones. Bizarre!

titferbrains · 15/11/2010 21:57

do bigger weights=bigger muscles? I thought yes so was not planning on upping the weights very much more. I just want to be a bit toned - my body will not be attractive to me if I'm muscly.

notyummy · 15/11/2010 22:48

I believe not according the exercise pros. Will have to find a couple of links to show you what I meN. Basically unless you are lifting serious (like half a car!) weights and eating a specialised diet, you shouldn't bulk up. Because women have a different make-up to men, it takes a lot for us to build muscle. Put it this way Angelina Jolie was lifting fairly heavy weights to get her Lara Croft body.....and I wouldn't mind looking like that Grin

notyummy thanks for that, very useful info.

think I might try level 2 today! Please everyone keep posting, it's really encouraging to know other people are trying.

chocoholic · 16/11/2010 12:03

itsonlyajob - have you done it yet?

I've shocked myself by dragging myself through day 2.

Surely I can't do it when I ache this much I thought, then spent 10 mins looking through this thread and saw that everyone seemed to be in pain to start with.
So thank you everyone for going through the pain it really helped spur me on Grin
Roll on tomorrow.

Joby1970 · 16/11/2010 12:27

as notyummy says - you will NOT bulk up we (females) are built diff from men & would really have to go at it some to get any sort of large muscles. I go to the gym & regularly lift 20KG & have just nice toned muscles & look nothing like Anrie lol.

How did it go Riven?

MrsVincentPrice · 16/11/2010 15:05

Just finished my 5 1/2th day on level 1 (the takeaway guy arrived with my Thai green curry with tofu half way through yesterday Blush) and relaxing with a cup of tea and a gawp at the dizzy heights of level 2.

Doesn't look that hard, but worried about my iffy knees - I think some new trainers may be in order, but at least there are some plausible low impact substitutes for some of the moves.
