Dukan Diet, anyone trying it

1000 replies

uggmum · 26/04/2010 19:33

Hi, I have started the Dukan Diet. Managed to get thru day 1. Anyone else trying it? What do you think ?

Katisha · 28/07/2010 09:43

Yep. Hold fire on prawns! Maybe eat anything else that is lyting about ready to tempt you and start tomorrow!

Stern look - this only works if you stick to it! HAve you got your bran and all that?

MissWooWoo · 28/07/2010 09:57

I have my bran

Not much left to tempt me tbh so think what I'll do is make sure I have lots of veg today and then go for a 4 day attack phase starting tomorrow - hopefully that should get me back on track.

Do I have the record for fastest fall off the wagon?

I am feeling the same about the chocolate in the cupboard. Haven't had any real cravings until now, 6 weeks in, oddly.
I think I have yoghurt-fatigue now though.

SpanishHarlot · 29/07/2010 18:57

Well day two of being back on the Attack phase..not done too bad, yoghurts getting me through it. When having a bad moment have reached for a frankfurter which although is probably not allowed seems to do the trick.

The web site is good in that there are so many nice recipes on it which is good when you just cant think what to make for lunch or dinner.

Back down to 7lbs loss, want to break through the 13st barrier in next couple of days which will then spur me on to stay focused. Will also think about going back on the Wii to do my exercises, just couldn't face them this week.

Doesn't help that I make novelty cakes so constantly am assaulted by the smell of cakes baking in the oven.

MissWooWoo · 29/07/2010 19:14

Oo! SpanishHarlot I'm on my first day back on the Attack phase after a very disgraceful and early fall off the wagon where I gained 3 lbs of the 8 lbs I had initially lost. I'm hoping to crack the 13 St mark sometime soon so maybe we could spur each other on? So far so good (again) and looking forward to my yoghurt and oatbran after I've put dd to bed.

Hi MissWooWoo good on you for going back to attack..i have broken the 13st today but must keep low intake of food if I am to keep it under.

Have been very irratible today don't know if that is lack of food or just pi**ed off with DH who seems to be getting on my nerves today.

just had chicken and salad for dinner and didn't even want to eat it all. Will have a yoghurt later when it has gone down.

Will be getting some oat bran tomorrow when the sister in law comes out so will see if i can make the pancakes properly or not.

keep up the good work..if you get hungry just reach for the yoghurts it will be worth it..

uggmum · 30/07/2010 20:28

Hi, I have now lost a total of 38.28 pounds. Very happy with that.

Good luck everyone, keep up the good work.

uggmum · 31/07/2010 07:55

'ghd'

'professional styler with ceramic technology'

(it says this on both sides)

hurrah SpanishHarlot it makes such a difference psychologically doesn't it, getting to the next stone bracket? Only a couple more pounds for me and I will be able to say I am 12 stone something, haven't been able to do that since the beginning of the year. I just keep thinking of the clothes, the clothes! I have a suitcase (and wardrobe) full of lovely things that I cannot yet get into. My plan is to dig out all the things in the next size down and hang them in my wardrobe for inspiration. I will be a size 12 again! I will!

uggmum WOW that is seriously wonderful. How do you feel?

uggmum · 31/07/2010 23:25

Hi Misswoowoo, I do feel great. I never thought I would lose the weight. I have tried many diets and orlistat but nothing worked like this. I was determined and once the weight starting coming off I was hooked.

I am not finished yet. Need to lose a further stone. I am confident that I can do it.

SpanishHarlot · 01/08/2010 09:58

thanks uggmum...

Am now down to 12 st 11 lb yippeeeee

have been able to put on some tops without seeing the back boobs jutting out under the bra yippeeee.

Was at the beach yesterday and felt positively skinny....hah!!!! to all those fatties

Fidget32 · 01/08/2010 10:19

Well done to all, sounds like everyones doing great!

It will be five weeks on Tuesday and I have lost a stone and a half, everyday im finding new clothes in my wardrobe which fit again...yay (ranges from size 10-16) Size 14's are starting to feel a little loose so am nearing the size 12 mark! Another 2 lb and im no longer officially overweight, but still a way off what i want to get too! I'm no longer placing a cushion over my stomach when I sit down to hide the rolls, (is it just me that did that /) lol!

Still not touched a drop of booze, despite my partner still having a drink at weekend, its not really bothered me. Having said that I am at a family wedding in London at the weekend, my dad is scottish and I cant imagine he will let me go the weekend without drinking alcohol! I want to stay strong, dont want to come back from the weekend heavier, plus I will be PSS*d after a couple lol.

Anyone got any advice for these situations, or am I alone in having a party animal dad?

MummyBirdthe1st · 01/08/2010 17:07

Hello everyone.

Firstly can I just say well done to everyone on here who has lost weight. You have all done so well.

I have just spent the last couple of hours reading through this whole thread and lost 28.95 pounds whilst doing so thanks to the person who mentioned you could get the Dukan book at Book People. The book was only £4.99 but well I liked a few others .

I read about the Dukan Diet in a Sunday paper supplement my mum left at my house. I have been thinking about it for weeks but finally started it last Monday, this is the 7th day of the attack phase. As I have approx 4.5 stone to lose I will try and stay on the attack until Wednesday. I didn't wiegh myself before I started but I know that I have lost weight as my clothes are a lot looser. .

I must say I have found it pretty easy, although sometimes just the thought of more meat has put me off eating. But generally I have found it ok.

Thank you all for your stories and tips, it has been great reading all this.

shortandsweet2 · 01/08/2010 20:25

Hi Fidget32

Well done for doing so well, if you have to have a drink go for a long glass with white wine and diet 7up which will last longer than a short then you can always keep it topped up with the lemonade and add some lemon slices to it to make it look like an alcoholic one.

My sister in law is over on holiday for 3 weeks and likes to get on the booze too so I have to try to avoid it too.

She is threatening to do a cocktail night for my birthday next sunday which sounds great but those cocktails will be both lethal to the brain and also to my diet...

Was in the bikini today and felt good, still got more to go but at least DH is not motioning to me to cover up like he used to bless him

Had beer but chicken again today it was great very moist but had to move away from the potatoes roasted in the juices they smelt fantastic!!! stuck to salad and a burger without the bun..was ok.

SpanishHarlot · 01/08/2010 22:17

Hi MissWooWoo how are you coping today.

Good idea to sort out the clothes Fidget32 I have a particular pair of jeans that I seem to get on once every 6 months when I lose weight then they go to the back of the cupboard again..still look like new funny enough

Bought a couple of pretty frocks down the market today and didn't have to worry about them being only "one size" they fitted me fine

Must stay focused now I have visitors ..will try to stick close to PP with lots of yoghurts in the bag when we go to the beach so I am not tempted by ice creams..

SpanishHarlot · 01/08/2010 22:20

Hi MummyBirdThe1st welcome to our diet, it's not as bad as the Atkins as there is more variety and I can honestly see myself being able to do the cruise for the long term as do not miss the carbs at all.

miss the cheese though but just as well we cant have it because my cholesterol went up on the Atkins due to the sat fats and cheese.

Am sneaking a bit of low fat cheese with the hham sometimes so not so bad.

sue41 · 02/08/2010 07:44

Same, missing Cheese more and more now. Weight going off at around 1-1.5lb per week and been at it for almost 3 months, still best diet ever as like everyone above finding new clothes in the wardrobe.

I'm sometimes a bit over on the eggs.... but otherwise OK.

Finally down to 12 10, taken about three weeks to get there from 13st.

Any tips on tummy exercises please, it's only my stomach (and maybe my boobs!) stopping me becoming a size 16 (and last time I was at this weight I was a 14-16, but this time definately a 16-18 - nearer the 18 even after dropping two stone have only dropped 1 dress size )

Some great stories above and feel much more able to stay on the wagon with so many others having around the same to loose!

MissWooWoo · 02/08/2010 09:44

morning all

I've had a 24 hr tummy bug - I think. At first thought the shakes and cramps and TMI ALERT poo like water was down to the diet but as dd had a bug earlier in the week I reckon I must have caught a mild dose of it. Feel fine today and am now (thanks bug!) just under 13st. So, it's time for me to bow out of the thread as I'm going to do my own thing now, mostly low carb but with the odd PP day thrown in and some low GI days too.

@ MummyBird
"I have just spent the last couple of hours reading through this whole thread and lost 28.95 pounds whilst doing so" ... think I'll try that later and see if it works for me

On the alcohol issue - personally I'm rubbish and can never stick at "just one" so have to avoid totally - but for those of you that aren't complete booze-hounds when faced with a drink try gin/vodka with slimline tonic if wine isn't your thing. Can you get low carb beer these days too??

Good luck everyone, see you all on the S&B threads when we're all positively svelte like

Hello everyone

I have been away on holiday and have come back to a 2lb weight gain
Tried to be good, but just could not resist the lovely food on offer.

Well done to all of you with greater willpower than me. Back on attack for three days and hope to be back to 35lbs down by the end of the week.

I am now officially not overweight though! My BMI and weight are both in the healthy range, but at the top end iyswim so need to carry on to get down to the lower end of the scale.

I have another holiday in two weeks time, but as we are self catering it should be easier to resist....
