Hi all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm also on Dukan Diet. I started on Saturday so I'm now on day 5 of attack. No slip ups yet, and I lost 4kg (8.8lbs) after the first 3 days but nothing after the fourth. I was quite disappointed because I drank extra water yesterday and also got stuck into some pilates which I hadn't done on previous days. Anyway, I'm planning on doing the pur protein days alternating with protein and veg days starting on Friday. Really looking forward to it. Now I've gotten over the carb cravings, I'm really craving green veg.
About the ham stuff.. I think the reason it's not recommended might be because of the high salt content. Salt forces your body to retain fluid so that it can absorb it which might hinder your results in the water-weight-loss area. I'm not 100% sure though, I thought I read in the book that it was okay but I've been avoiding it for that reason. Pork and lamb are supposed to be avoided on attack phase, so I thought bacon and ham would come under the pork category, being from the same animal.
Anyway - congratulations to everyone out there who's lost/losing weight. I've discovered that it takes a lot of determination and will-power. This is my first diet (didn't seem to need it before my second baby), and so far I'm enjoying it. It's not easy, but it's also not as hard as I thought it would be.
For those of you starting out, it might be a good idea to to go to the official dukan diet website - they have a calculator there that estimates your 'true natural weight', as well as giving you an indication of how long you will spend on each stage. It's www.dukandiet.co.uk If I had $175AU (99GBP) to spend on the coaching, I think I'd do it, but the forums there are open to anyone who signs up to the site for free. They do have some helpful info on what is/isn't allowed and why.
Better go boil up some eggs for lunch. Don't think I can stand the thought of more dry chicken!
