Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

rubyrubyruby I like workout 2 too. Haven't dared look at 3 though!
Descovered this morning that i can put a pair of my jeans on done up! Need a belt on now to stop them falling down.
Haven't re-measured yet as don't want to be disappointed. May do it at day 20 or leave it until day 30.

Piffle - hope the pox gets better quickly
justaminute - your second round? Hats off to you, that's fantastic!
lostgirl - that's really interesting about the fluid retention (though disappointing not to be able to use the 'muscle weighs more than fat' as a lack of weightloss excuse!)
tortoise - well done, sounds like a good excuse to hit the shops
yarninmonkey - hope you get less sore

day 5 level 1 here - so halfway through the first level. Still finding the anterior raises (there! I remembered the name!!) a problem, but otherwise not too bad. Went for a hillwalk this morning too (not as impressive as it sounds, really, can't go far with dd or she gets scratchy) but was relieved that my legs didn't feel any worse than normal going up hill, was a bit worried they would lack energy after shredding. Sadly one of the friends I went with brought chocolate to snack on halfway. well, it would've been rude not to, wouldn't it???

notyummy · 18/05/2010 13:34

yarninmonkey - I think even if you are quite fit, the combination of cardio and strength training will 'get' you with this sort of workout. Unless you do a LOT of body pump/proper weights/military style circuit training then this style of exercise will make your thighs hurt. Rowing is good cardio - but not the back of the thigh! Hill walking - again good cardio and front of thigh....but not the back.

YarninMonkey · 18/05/2010 16:54

Notyummy ISWYM , will stick at it and follow Anita tomorrow. Thanks all for advice!

Well done rubyrubyruby does the sweat drip off your eyelashes too ? or is it just me?

3Happy · 18/05/2010 18:45

It was dripping off my nose yesterday. Nice.

mummytotwins · 18/05/2010 19:42

lostgirl thanks that good to know, I stocked up on bottles of water ealier (our tap water tastes rank!) so hopefully it will make a difference next week, my DH always says I never drink enough

Tortoise · 18/05/2010 20:57

Don't think i am going to shred tonight. Feeling tired and low and just can't be bothered . May change my mind in the next half hour but doubt it.

I drink lots of water as it is the only thing i do drink so luckily am ok in that aspect.

simmo39 · 18/05/2010 21:25

trumpton - well done, you must get the medal for '30 days in a row shred' !!!
did you measure yourself before and after?

Lostgirl - I definitely need to drink more water too, this is always a problem for me.

Did day 10 level 1 today. Quite excited a starting level 2 tomorrow. We are on holiday next week and am going to take my DVD with me. Hoping to squeeze it in every day still.

Skimummy · 18/05/2010 21:40

Just checking in for some 'restart' inspiration. A weekend away ended up a bit longer due to volcanic ash so have been 5 whole days without the shred! Up tomorrow morning for day 10 of level 1. Quite looking forward to it...may regret that!

trumpton · 18/05/2010 21:40

Thank you Simmo will measure after the 30th day but so far have lost quite a few inches . At least 2 from waist and 2 from hips. I am vair vair smug with myself . We go on holiday on 29th but dont think I will be shredding ( too busy drinking eating.)

simmo39 · 18/05/2010 21:52

skimummy - oh dear hope you enjoyed your extended holiday, happy shredding tomorrow.

trumpton - wow well done that is inspiring! Think we can allow you a little bit of smugness

wideratthehips · 18/05/2010 21:53

day 2 of level 2 and quite literally blowing out my arse!

much more panting, grunting and sweating...hate it when i'm doing it but love having a shower afterwards and feeling like i've really sweated out some toxins...love Jillian she does make me giggle

theQuibbler · 18/05/2010 22:14

Day 6 (I think, or is it 7, oh well)and it is definitely easier to do the exercises.

I do think it is a bit fast, though.
I'm quite conscious of wanting to be in the right position and not hurt my knees/back where that's a possibility. Sometimes that means I can miss a few reps.

I tried using my iPod tonight, really focusing on keeping good form but still doing the same number of moves. Bit of a faff pausing the dvd, but it worked out OK. Probably gets better as one gets stronger. Plus, I got to listen to some decent music and tune out Jillian

You're all so good - well done - it's helping me stay focused!

Skimummy · 19/05/2010 10:50

OK, up this morning to do Day 10 of Level 1. Five days off didn't seem to do too much damage...but will see how I go with Level 2 tomorrow. Eek!

This thread is such a motivator!

GettinTrimmer · 19/05/2010 11:15

I have just done Level 1 Day 4, did Davina's aerobic section first, then followed with Jillian.

Took a couple of days off as my back ached. Don't know what I did.

theQuibbler IKWYM about being careful with the positions, today I made sure I was in the right positions.

trumpton brilliant inch loss!

notyummy · 19/05/2010 11:19

Well done ladies!

In terms of getting your positioning right, a top tip I picked up some time ago. When you are doing squats (of any sort) or lunges, it is really important to ensure you don't push you knees out beyond your toes i.e you are sitting down as far as possible, rather than a forward motion. One of the ways of helping to do this is to try to ensure as much of your weight as possible is on your heels in these exercises. As you do your squats, try to actually lift and wiggle your toes slightly. You should be able to do to this, as you should be sitting back far enough to distribute your weight like this.

Hmm, not sure if this makes sense...but I know what I mean!

racmac · 19/05/2010 13:22

Hello everyone
Ive had DVD for a while - did start to do some and then kinda of .. well stopped

I have been running lots though - have just done day 1 today. Im off on holiday at whit week so will have to rest that week.

I see on Amazon she has diet/motivational books - anyone tried them?

racmac · 19/05/2010 13:38

and why are all her DVD's except the shred one - for region 1 DVDs - i dont want to buy one in case they dont work - how would i tell?

Tortoise · 19/05/2010 16:27

notyummy Thanks for tip. I do keep knees back but never quite sure if the squat bit is right!

Back to it tonight!!

LostGirl · 19/05/2010 19:42

racmac, if you have a multi regional player they will work. I believe there are hacks you can find online if you type in the make of your dvd player and it will tell you how to 'unblock' it

3Happy · 19/05/2010 19:52

notyummy - great tip thanks! I'm sure I go too far forward and wiggling the toes helps (though if I do it too much my feet roll outwards!)

Was feeling very virtuous for shredding today as was very busy and had lots of reasons to not do it, but I made myself do it and was feeling great... until I caught sight of my belly in the mirror. Urgh. I really hope it starts to shrink soon.

simmo39 · 19/05/2010 20:33

day 1 level 2 today. My back aches tonight, am not surprised really after the walking push ups, what a crazy exercise!

Was feeling quite positive until I tried on some clothes in Next, not flattering. Might do some extra sits ups as my belly is not really showing any difference yet. Arms and legs are better.

Does anyone think the mirrors in Next are awful, I look much better in my mirror at home!?.....
