Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

Have just eaten a mahoosive Sunday dinner foloowed by a rather large small piece of chocolate cake . Haven't shredded today... can I do it twice tomorrow instead? I'm rubbish at weekends...

3Happy · 16/05/2010 19:58

Happy birthday justaminute and trumpton's dds for tomorrow!

Gettintrimmer - snap!!! The side lunges - whatever the thing she calls what you do with the dumb bells when you do side lunges - I found more difficult than ever today and had to miss every other one. Definitely getting harder not easier, though I thought the press ups were slightly easier today. That said, I was still doing them from knees, and I definitely don't go very low on them! And my knees were a bit sore today too. I'm hoping maybe this is the turnaround point and things get easier from tomorrow???

A little worried by justaminute's "I thinki I like level 2 best, it hurts the most" [frightened emoticon!]

Tortoise · 16/05/2010 21:07

My DD's Birthday tomorrow too! Party was today, ate too much bad food! More cake tomorrow plus left overs!

Will be shredding soon. Have to work hard to wear off todays food!

marmalade32 · 16/05/2010 21:22

The jumping sounds very daunting - I'll give it a go tomorrow then. My shins were hurting a bit when i did Level 1 and I think it has more bouncing than level 2 so will see how I go. Definitely don't like the sound of jumping lunges--in fact they sound quite evil! Can't imagine it'll be my only 30 days of shred as I have so much weight and inches to lose so will try and grin and bear it ...

Tortoise · 16/05/2010 22:11

Day 13, day 4 of level 2 (I think!)
Still sweating heavily during/after. Feel like more of a workout than level 1!

chocolatestar · 16/05/2010 22:15

I just ordered mine! Am scared!

CatJosephine · 16/05/2010 22:47

Didn't shred today. Should have do Day 10 Level 1.

I suppose a hangover is not really a good excuse .

mummytotwins · 16/05/2010 23:55

OMG!!!! Just done day 21 (day 1 level 3) wow it hurts your thighs!!! dont think I have a hope in hell of keeping up with natalie yet doing some of the things anitas way feels too easy iykwim!!

wasnt as sweaty at the end of level 3 as I was level 2 though

justaminute · 17/05/2010 07:53

Oh no, I have blundered! it is Tortoise's dd that shares her birthday with my dd today not Trumpton. So sorry ladies - in my defence you both begin with "T".. not much of a defence is it?! Happy Birthday Tortoise's dd.

Very impressed with all you weekend Shredders. I must get back to it tonight.

Joby1970 · 17/05/2010 08:13

I agree I think level 2 is the all rounds hardest level. But level 3 had the hardest individual exercises - rock start jumps, those plie things for a start

trumpton · 17/05/2010 09:00

I didn't think I had a daughter with a birthday today altho' I did ask them just to check ! Cue Dd's going at each other.
I hated the shred today was extremely half hearted and am going to do it later as a penance. In my defence I was expecting burly gardeners to start work at 8.30 and did not want to caught by them all heaving bosoms and sweaty..( Lady Chatterly type ) AND they are not here yet .

theQuibbler · 17/05/2010 09:34

Hello all - room for one more?

Am on day 5, level one. It's going OK, I'm amazed at how much she can pack into 20 mins.

I've been dieting since mid Jan and have been Davina-ering and doing a bit of the gym, so it's not too bad, but the side lunges with the shoulder presses are killing me!

I like this thread - it is making me commit to doing it every day as well - you're all v. motivating.

justaminute · 17/05/2010 10:21

Welcome aboard Quibbler another convert to the Shred

How are you finding 30DS compared to Davina? We are off to Center parcs at half term and I'm considering taking Davina with me as I've bitten by the exercise bug. I would take Jillian but I don't think dh would be impressed with lugging the weights along. If I do take Davina I'll have to blow the dust off the DVD - Jillian rules these days.

YarninMonkey · 17/05/2010 10:59

May I jump aboard also?? Have done day 1 and can't move my legs today !! Have been taking painkillers and everything Am gonna have to have a break today, anyone else experience this level of pain??

BattyKoda · 17/05/2010 11:10

Level 1 day 5 (should be 6 but missed yesterday!) done this morning. I may do again tonight to make up for yesterday. Am definately finding it a little bit easier. I'm not aching as much afterwards anymore.

Weighed myself today, couldn't wait! I've lost 1 lb since Weds better than a gain I suppose!

Thanks justaminute

I've got a few Davina DVD's, but I think the the one that really works is superbody workout.
Now I'm a bit fitter, the others (fit etc.,) don't challenge me as much. Still good to do though, especially as an add-on to something else as they are pretty short. I did kickfit after 30DS yesterday and felt really worked out.

Sorry to hear you're in pain YarningMonkey - sometimes doing a few stretches and exercising gently through it can help ease/reduce the muscle soreness.

YarninMonkey · 17/05/2010 11:35

Thank you quibbler, will have a walk this afternoon and get back into it again tomorrow

BattyKoda · 17/05/2010 11:36

"I did kickfit after 30DS"

Nolda · 17/05/2010 11:49

Just done day 5 of level 2. Is it getting any easier? Nope. My poor knees will get a break now until Saturday. OurLady, thanks for the knee exercises. I did do them for a few days and my knees recovered at which point I stupidly stopped and surprise, surprise, knees are bad again. Will get on those stairs later.

theQuibbler I love a got kickfit session but I can't imagine doing it right now - good effort to you.

Joby1970 · 17/05/2010 12:38

YARNINMONKEY ; the pain is quite natural - try & do the shred today & if youfeel you cannot manage it once you have tried then do it tomorrow - I managed to do 12 days in a row when I started - I just worked thro the pain - it does ease up promise.

theQuibbler · 17/05/2010 14:12

"I did kickfit after 30DS"
""

I was a bit thick impatient when I got the DVD and didn't read anything. Since it's so short, (if intense), I assumed you had to do the whole thing in one go.
I did level 1 and 2 and thought, "this can't be right; I'm dying here". Luckily, my brain kicked in before I attempted level 3

MiaWallace · 17/05/2010 14:40

Just completed day 8 of level 1. I really struggled though because my knee is really sore.

I have mixed feelings about moving on to level 2. I'm excited about the new challenge but I'm nervous about feeling like I did on day 1 again

notyummy · 17/05/2010 15:34

quibbler - now that would be hard core! My DH has tried all three at one time but couldn't manage it. I have done both 1 and 2 together a fair few times, but haven't attempted 2 and 3 together yet. Prefer level 3 and then the cross trainer for 25 mins or so - bit of variety.

3Happy · 17/05/2010 15:38

Oops, sorry Trumpton/Tortoise Maybe it's safer just to say happy borthdya to anyone who has birthdays in the family today...!

ha ha! Just read that back and decided to leave the typo in because it made me laugh!! Maybe I'm safer just saying nothing at all - I either get the name wrong, or can't spell birthday! Hopeless. I normally use the one-handed-bfeeding-typing excuse, but dd is napping just now so would be a total lie.

Welcome to theQuibbler, lol at doing all the levels in one go, ouch! chocolatestar - hope your DVD arrives quickly.

day 4 level 1 today. Still hating the side lunge/weight lifty thing (I did pay attention to what she called it, but instantly forgot. I say again, hopeless!). I think my triceps are definitely my weakest points. Except for my knees on the odd exercise, my legs no longer hurt at all, and my pecs are only minimally achey when I do the chest presses.

Now trying to avoid the chocolate in the fridge by making ds2 a spaceman outfit out of bubble wrap and a plastic garden cloche. Having kids has unlocked previously unknown crafty enthusiasm....... but sadly has not unlocked any actual talent
