Anyone else doing 30 day shred?

I heard lots about it and got the dvd. I'm on day 2 and can feel my muscles aching!
I'm trying to combine it with a diet too.

Is anyone else doing this/thinking of doing it?

Had a lay in this morning so feel like I have missed my window!

Will hopefully get it in before dinner tonight. I think I might actually be starting to enjoy it!? I quite like the fact that my arms are like jelly and I can barely get up the stairs

GettinTrimmer · 15/05/2010 15:10

I've just done day 2 of Level 1.

I tried to do full press-ups but couldn't manage them. If anybody's progressed to doing the full version how long did it take you to work up to it?

OurLady well done, some other dvds are like a walk in the park compared to this one - definitely be careful of your back, I hurt mine a little bit after my first attempt a couple of weeks ago, stopped for a while then started again.

Batty Don't blame you for having a lie-in!

I think it's the first time I have done sit ups properly, after Jillian said "your neck's not invited to this party" and to look at the ceiling!

babyball · 15/05/2010 15:29

I keep starting and stopping and mixing with walking, gym and Davina. Has anyone done the full 30 days? If so what change/s have you noticed? I have done it 10 times over about 20 days and although I am not doing it every day, I can definitely see the difference in my arms and tummy. I still have massive thighs though . Also, anyone obese (like me) and doing it? I am 15stone 6lbs and 5ft 2ins. I have noticed my knees hurt a little apart from normal aching all over but was wondering if anyone else has. Keep it up girls anyway. I think I am starting to enjoy it as well BattyKoda. What a masochist eh

LostGirl · 15/05/2010 15:55

Hi babyball, I did the thirty days and like you noticed the difference in arms, shoulders, chest and abs, but not so much in the lower body. I am a real pear shape and have done other things finishing the shred and whilst I have lost inches on hips and thighs now, proportionally I am still the same, so my things still look huge . Some things you just can't change.

GettinTrimmer, I managed to progress to full push ups in about three weeks, but I didn't start doing them on my knees I started by putting my hands on the back of the sofa, then progressed to the chair seat, then a step on a floor and then full military style. This way you are gradually building up the amount of weight you are putting on your arms rather than suddenly going from your knees to your toes which is a huge jump.

mummytotwins · 15/05/2010 18:12

nolda level 2 does get easier I promise though I am still a sweaty betty at the end!!!

I dont really enjoy level 2 for some reason, probably all that plank work, it kills me, think level 3 might finish me off lol!!

I am actually very excited to do the full 30 days though, I will admit I dont actually have any weights and cant afford any at the momnet so have been using tins of beans so my upper arms wont be bingo wing less but ho hum!

shinybootsofleather · 15/05/2010 19:03

Not sure what your budget is, but think Argos have some weights for a fiver (5lbs). I got mine from an ex-catalogue shop for a fiver. They seem to be full of that type of thing.

twinkle183 · 15/05/2010 19:09

Have been a complete pig today, first time in ages... Will shred later, shredded yesterday aswell went to zumba!!!

Not much else to report!!! Keep going girls xx

3Happy · 15/05/2010 19:12

GettinTrimmer - I think I'll use you as my shredbuddy - I'm on level 1 day 2 too, and struggling with the press ups!! I look forward to it all getting easier (though it scares me how impossible levels 2&3 must be to make level 1 look easy...)

MiaWallace - he's been really brave but his face is a mess. The swelling's going down but it's getting a lot more blue/purple now. What a shame!

vnmum · 15/05/2010 19:35

i feel really bad i have only shredded twice last week due to visitors or just running out of time. i havent done it for 3 days ina row now so must start again tomorrow. the annoying thing is i would have started again yesterday had i not pulled my inner thigh getting up from sitting on a curb while watching the kids ride their bikes. i wouldnt have minded if i pulled it while exercising but just doing that is a joke

i have stopped slimming world now as just couldnt get my head around it so am back on ww so im hoping i will see weight loss aswell as inch loss this time around.

Thanks for the motivation to get me back on track tomorrow

trumpton · 15/05/2010 20:09

Oh golly......2 large gin and tonics and a mini magnum.....Someone hold me back !!

Squidmission · 15/05/2010 21:45

Argh! I'm so annoyed that I haven't had time to come and read and post on here.
I'm still shredding and am now on level 3 but my eating has gone completely crap. I really need to get a grip.
I've promised that tomorrow is a new start.
I need to lose weight!
I DO NOT need to regain the weight I've lost!!

Here's to tomorrow...

Well done to everyone shredding and losing. I've been missing you all on this thread

OP posts:
trumpton · 15/05/2010 21:48

See you tomorrow squid I have had another gin and am off to bed.
My eating is ok but my alcohol consumption is maybe a little high .

Tortoise · 15/05/2010 22:42

Day 12 (day 3 level 2).
Hope it gets a bit easier soon!

I am 5'9 and weigh 12st 2. Would like to lose at least 1/2 stone.

Am not too bad with food most days but have the odd day when i am pretty bad. Today i had chips and bacon double cheeseburger from Burger king! Haven't had one for years and it was scrummy!
Then had chips for tea. Followed by ice cream!
DD1's Birthday party tomorrow and Birthday Monday which = 2 days of cake eating! I am going to have to shred hard!

Tortoise · 15/05/2010 22:44

Just checked my BMI and it is 25 so classed as overweight. Interesting to see how that changes over the next few weeks!

mummytotwins · 16/05/2010 00:35

shinybootsofleather thanks for that I will have a peek in argos on Monday.

Level 2 completed now!!!

Im doing ww alongside this, next wi is on Monday, I dont feel like I have lost this week, I even gained a pound last week, its all muscle though honest

I love this thread it nice and motivating!

BattyKoda · 16/05/2010 08:26

Managed to squeeze in Day 4 Level 1 before dinner last night. Will hopefully get a window today to get it in, lots going on today though!

Food Focus is telling me I should have lost a pound since Wednesday, so fingers crossed. I'm going to weigh on Wednesday to see how I'm doing. I want to be 8st13lb by 2nd June.

mummytotwins Well done for completing level 2! Have you not got any weights yet? I'm still using tins so may pop to Argos myself!

tortoise Am very jealous of your Burger King!! Instead of banning myself from treats, I've just be 'adjusting' them. So instead of burger I would have chicken nuggets and maybe onion rings instead of chips to cut the bread and potato. I'm a sucker for take away currys, it is my absolute favourite! But I've cut out the naan bread, have a small portion of rice and have chicken or lamb tikka instead of the saucy dishes. Don't feel like I'm missing out as much then!

thrumpton Did you stop at 3 gins?

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 16/05/2010 11:37

Hi all just managed the whole of level 1!

Not too bad at all except for my pelvic ishoos on the starjumps.
Had to stick with skipping and butt-kicks .

I think this'll be perfect to do on non-gym days, not that I'm a fitness freak or anything, I just want to get myself sorted before the summer.

Btw, vnmum, I also find SW a pain, but don't they do the Extra Easy now, which is basically low-fat, and no red or green days?

Have been vaguely following it with DH and it's working, but slowly - I'm incapable of going sufficiently hungry to lose weight any quicker!

trumpton · 16/05/2010 13:35

Stopped at third gin ( but they were home gins so probably doubles ) got up this morn and did Level 3 . Sweat was dripping off my nose during the mountain climbs. Yuk ! But feeling good. Day 25 today. I can't do the rock star jumps without holding onto back of sofa..

GettinTrimmer · 16/05/2010 13:54

Hello everybody, did Day 3 Level 1 earlier on.

How are you doing 3Happy? I found the side lunges very difficult today, heavy on the arms. What weight dumbbells do you use?

Hope your ds is OK, mine got his nose whacked last year, luckily just a little bleed then he was alright!

ourlady IKWYM about the pelvic floor. It's worse for me with those jumps.

lostgirl Thanks for that advice about the press-ups. Full ones are just so difficult.

Is anybody taking measurements then measuring again after the 30 days?

marmalade32 · 16/05/2010 14:57

Hi all haven't posted for a while, but well done everyone. I have just done day 10 Level 2 and want to know how much harder level 3 is-I've skipped through but I don't think you can really tell until you do it. I'm still finding Level 2 hard - am following Natalie for nearly everything though- but I think if I want to lose inches and weight need to keep pushing. Don't know whether to continue on Level 2 for a few more days or go to Level 3 ? I've done the 20 days in about 25 - I work shifts and it's sometimes literally impossible to find the time in the day to do it, especially when I'm on nights and exhausted ! Or is that just lazy it is - probably a mixture if I'm honest. Have seen great results on inch loss and weight so far. What do you Level 3 peeps think ? Should I stay or move on.....

LostGirl · 16/05/2010 16:47

Give it a go and see what you think. I found the weight and abs sections weren't as tough as level 2 it was the jumping lunges, jumping squats and rock stars that nearly killed me

wideratthehips · 16/05/2010 18:42

have pulled one of my thigh muscles doing the squat thrusts on day one of level 2 (ow ee arggh hobble)

justaminute · 16/05/2010 19:05

Trumpton Snap! It is my Dd's birthday tomorrow too. The cake eating started yesterday here

Lostgirl thanks for the top tips regarding push ups. The difference between an Anita style and a Natalie push up is huge. I'm going to give your method a go - it is my aim to be able to do a full set of proper push ups by the time I finish my second round of 30ds.

I've given myself the weekend off - too much to do for my party girl and I feel like I have a spot of flu, but, I'm looking forward to starting again on Monday - finding this thread motivational - love hearing how you are all getting on.

justaminute · 16/05/2010 19:14

Marmalade Level 3 definitely works the legs and bum - I felt like a frog there is a lot of jumping involved. On the plus side - there isn't as much plank work! In a sadistic way I think I like level 2 best, it hurts the most.

LostGirl · 16/05/2010 19:33

I agree justaminute, I liked level 2 the most, it hurt without being too frog like! When you do the push ups start at your chosen level and concentrate on getting your chest to about an inch from the 'floor' or where the floor would be, so go as low as possible.
